Crikey what a morning. I’m so pleased for everyone who has what they need, and to those who don’t, I’m really pleased you are on here with this fantastic bunch of really supportive, helpful and knowledgeable people, because I know they will help make it tolerable.
So sorry for our lovely @CinnamonOrangeCremeBrulee , who has been a rock for all of us.but it sounds like there are great options, just keep channeling Maureen.
I didn’t have Mumsnet for my other kids. When I suddenly found myself with an extremely traumatised school phobic14 year old, with no idea about GCSEs, these threads were a lifeline. You’ve all seen us through GCSE S and COVID and A level choices and UCAS, through really difficult times when I didn’t think I could do it. So glad I found you.
You have been so wonderful. From the very bottom of my heart, Thank You to all of you.

DS one grade short for first choice. Is there any hope for him? He can't get through to UNi?

Zebracat · 18/08/2022 10:18

Have they turned him down @Babyroobs . Tell us more. What subject, what Uni?

Benjispruce4 · 18/08/2022 10:18

Been in to school. Teacher advised against jumping in to something on clearing. Looking at York St John on clearing as that would mean she’s still in York , close to bf. Any thoughts or knowledge of York St John?

Psychology at Liverpool. needed ABB and got BBB. It's tricky as he isn't here so sporadic communication, he is at girlfriends home.

ZandathePanda · 18/08/2022 10:19

A star
A star
A (2 marks off an A star)!

For those of you who know Dd’s circumstances, you’ll smile to know even the exam officer was in tears!

Decorhate · 18/08/2022 10:20

@kepisback Would he consider Leeds Beckett? They had quite a few politics thoe courses in clearing when I looked & not high entry requirements

Does he just have to go through clearing now? he has tried to call Liverpool but says their call line not available today which seems odd ? I'm highly anxious here.

I should add he's a bit hapless at time, just hoping GF is guiding him through things, she is already at Uni.

Fruitygal · 18/08/2022 10:23

@EwwSprouts cant find you? How’s it gone ?

singingstones · 18/08/2022 10:24

Oh Also congratulations that's amazing - I have been hoping you would come on with good news!

Hattifatteners · 18/08/2022 10:24

Sorry to those who have missed their offers. Such a stressful time.
Congratulations to all who have received good news.
DD got A star, AA and is off to her first choice Bristol.

@Babyroobs has UCAS been updated ? Just jumping on their website, it looks like there are virtual advisors

Decorhate · 18/08/2022 10:26

Thanks @Monkey2001 Fabulous results for your Ds. I hope he gets snapped up.

Thanks have messaged him to look at that. Sorry not sure about UCAS - he just said he had not got into Liverpool so presumably that means UCAS has updated. So stressful.

MrKlaw · 18/08/2022 10:27

anyone with a DC set on taking a year out, got decent results and considering clearing for this year?

Benjispruce4 · 18/08/2022 10:28

Oh @ZandathePanda I am soooooo happy for you all. Go DD!

ParvuliThankYouDebbie · 18/08/2022 10:30

DD can’t even go through other clearing options unless she can accept or reject, and if Royal Holloway don’t make a decision soon she’s going to explode with the stress - she’s feeling she’s going to lose out on possible clearing options whilst waiting for them to decide…….been on hold for an hour…..

pangolinfan · 18/08/2022 10:30

DD into her firm, Edinburgh, for Economics and Politics. Dropped a grade, so had 15 mins of worry between results and uni email but all is well. Such relief. Heartfelt congratulations to all of our young people, and wishing those who are spending the day negotiating Clearing all the luck (and patience) in the world - we fully expected to be doing that too.

CinnamonOrangeCremeBrulee · 18/08/2022 10:31

ParvuliThankYouDebbie · 18/08/2022 10:03

Similar situation here, except dd hasn’t had a decision from Royal Holloway yet. Email from UCAS says sorry your Uni is still considering your application. She’s never got less than a B in music (usually As) but she got C and she’s sooo disappointed. However she did much better than expected in two others - including an A in EPQ. As she hadn’t got her results from Grade 8 yet she was allowed to submit a performance recording. Also her overall grades are above what RH are offering in clearing in music (they’re offering CCC). The wait is excruciating and she’s on the phone but on the hold music for about half hour now. But if they’re offering CCC in clearing, surely they’ll accept her won’t they?

Mmm A level Music is such a small Cohort I'm wondering about the boundaries etc

We just looked at RHU on UCAS and was saying B in Music required but their own clearing pages say as you do. Just waiting for grade print out. Sorry I've not had time to read updates

The Notts Staines massive continues successfully.
Hope Heifer is ok.

Last we heard from @crazycrofter was she was waiting for DD to get up - have we heard more and I've missed it?

Oblomov22 · 18/08/2022 10:35

Zanda that is so cool.

Hope EwwSprouts is ok.

Heifer, sorry got you now. Hope Crazy is ok.

Just got back from School. Atmosphere was nice. Queue up to get your envelope. Very old fashioned. Saw a few parents known from primary school.

A* Sociology
A* Psychology
A Business
A EPQ

I went up and thanked and shook hands with his favourite teacher sociology.

Really pleased.

So fantastic oblomov. Well done!!

Volterra · 18/08/2022 10:36

Hope everyone ok

DS got 3 x A star.

Zebracat · 18/08/2022 10:38

@Babyroobs . Sounds like he has missed his firm. But what was his insurance? He still has very good grades, but I know psychology is very popular. I’ve can look at clearing for psychology , or see if Liverpool have something else he likes in clearing, apply for that and the try to transfer, but that is high risk. There are loads of courses with big elements of psychology , but other stuff too.
@Benjispruce4 with those grades, she can do better than York St John, although it is ok. Leicester has sociology in Clearing. I haven’t looked at others. Try Sheffield, Lancaster.
