Tears here!

DD exceeded all expectations - predicted AAB, got BCD in mocks…and ended up with A*BA!!

Monkey, she went from a D to an A in geography, thanks to you!

Stellar results picc! 💐👍

UCAS have confirmed acceptance at DS firm, but he received an email from insurance saying congrats you've been accepted but he hasn't received an email from his firm! He's panicking. Is this usual?

@Babyroobs . Sounds like he has missed his firm. But what was his insurance? He still has very good grades, but I know psychology is very popular. I’ve can look at clearing for psychology , or see if Liverpool have something else he likes in clearing, apply for that and the try to transfer, but that is high risk. There are loads of courses with big elements of psychology , but other stuff too.
@Benjispruce4 with those grades, she can do better than York St John, although it is ok. Leicester has sociology in Clearing. I haven’t looked at others. Try Sheffield, Lancaster.

Thanks Zebracat. His insurance was Aston Birmingham, but not sure he is keen on there now.

Thread is moving so fast I’m having trouble keeping up with who got what.

Congratulations to those who got what they wanted and commiserations to those who didn’t. I hope you are all able to make
other plans, it’s so hard seeing your DC unhappy.

DS needed ABB for Cardiff but got BBC so has got into his insurance choice of Brighton.
He is quite disappointed. He’s tried to call them but was on hold for half an hour and then the phone cut off and then said it was having technical difficulties and now is just engaged?
Is it actually worth him calling or should I be encouraging him to stop and come to terms with his insurance/look for something else?

Comefromaway · 18/08/2022 10:41

York St John always had a good reputation for would be teachers

Fiddlersgreen · 18/08/2022 10:43

Also he hasn’t heard anything from Brighton, UCAS says he’s in but should they have sent something to say congratulations/welcome?
I don’t know how we sort accommodation or anything yet

Delphigirl · 18/08/2022 10:43

Hope everyone ok

DS got 3 x A star.

Hey hey hey that’s amazing. So last minute collywobbles were just that! Fab!

No that’s not right. He needs to get onto ucas and sort that out.

cariadambyth · 18/08/2022 10:47

Dd is in her firm, RH. We are delighted. DH has booked a table at a lovely restaurant for lunch but all I want to do is fall asleep!!
I’m sorry to hear about those who have been disappointed this morning, I do hope they get sorted soon. Such a difficult day and so hard to see those around them celebrating x

ZandathePanda · 18/08/2022 10:47

@Benjispruce4
Look at the East Coast train line. Newcastle to York is around 50 minutes hassle free and cheap with a railcard. There’s loads of trains each day. That opens up Northumbria Uni and Newcastle. Xx

drumandthebase · 18/08/2022 10:48

That's was my feeling too. Thanks for replying

Benjispruce4 · 18/08/2022 10:53

Thanks @Babyroobs she is looking at U of Sheffield now. Two possibilities and on train line to bf in Leeds.

Mmm A level Music is such a small Cohort I'm wondering about the boundaries etc

We just looked at RHU on UCAS and was saying B in Music required but their own clearing pages say as you do. Just waiting for grade print out. Sorry I've not had time to read updates

Hmmmm, me too now re grade boundaries. Was it Edexel? Dd just found out her (small) music class, where no one was predicted lower than B and most of them were predicted A, have not a single one of them got higher C. One of them predicted A got a D. Only one of them got their place and that’s because she applied to a conservatoire and had her place confirmed a while ago via her audition.

Pieceofpurplesky · 18/08/2022 10:57

DS smashed it - AAB. Off to Keele

Fiddlersgreen · 18/08/2022 10:58

When can we find out the grade boundaries?

DS and his friend were both very surprised to have dropped a grade in the same subject, they have their marks but no idea how close that is to the grade above?

Comefromaway · 18/08/2022 10:59

This is really concerning with regards to music.

So a really bad day in the exam hall for Music and composition downgraded , she wasn't near the grade boundary as it turns out.

Cardiff had changed her offer to unconditional, which is how she got the place.

She is worried about her anxiety at Cardiff due to distance. But she has come on so well in that respect over the last few months.

On hold to Southampton which I just feel is a waste of time. No places in clearing and didn't meet the low offer they gave her.

Anyone know how long a grade appeal takes?

Mumwithbaggage · 18/08/2022 11:00

@CinnamonOrangeCremeBrulee thank you for the pointer over here. Dd got her course of choice at Liverpool and required grades but she's not overly happy with her marks. Wishes she'd done 3 not 4 A levels now. We are going to Liverpool for a couple of days next week - no need to cancel my Booking.com now!

Wishing all the best to you all - I've had a (very clever) child who didn't get required grades first time and one who utterly aced it so I know how you feel, except this year is definitely stranger.

Edexcel - qualifications.pearson.com/content/dam/pdf/Support/Grade-boundaries/A-level/2206-gce-subject-grade-boundaries.pdf

OCR - www.ocr.org.uk/Images/658475-as-and-a-level-grade-boundaries-june-2022.pdf

I can't find AQA.

For us, Edexcel Maths has barely changed, OCR Physics went down much more than I expected.

Fiddlersgreen · 18/08/2022 11:02

Thank you @Monkey2001 and @PaddingtonPaddington it’s AQA I need and I can’t find it either

SirVixofVixHall · 18/08/2022 11:03

All A stars, off to Oxford. Very, very happy for her.

ParvuliThankYouDebbie · 18/08/2022 11:03

RH just answered the phone after 1.5 hrs……waiting waiting 😐

Dreikanter · 18/08/2022 11:04

AQQ A level grade boundaries:

We were just collecting the one AS result today - a B in Further Maths, which DS is happy with.
