Happy Birthday to your ds Derek!

Good idea Ursula! That will look perfect with a little dress. She wouldn't need to do her hair then, could just leave it in rollers.

Happy Birthday to all those reaching the 18 milestone.

One of DD's friends went into the city on Saturday for another mates birthday celebrations. She got refused entry to 3 places using her own ID! They ended up in Maccys as the planned restaurant refused her ID as well. Not sure what the answer is except to make sure they have a recognisable pic on their licence or passport.

catslife · 16/04/2018 09:27

Congrats to your dd ursula going to an event at the palace sounds awesome.
I think the latter about ID is true. dd now has a new passport within the last year and has had no problems with ID since she now has that and a photo driving licence.

catslife · 16/04/2018 09:29

At one stage we didn't think there was going to be a prom or leaving do at dds sixth form. One has now appeared on the schedule towards to end of June. My impression is that it will be much less formal than the one at the end of Y11.

Happy Birthday and belated birthdays to all the DC’s turning 18!
Dd turns 20 this year still can’t believe it
Dd has being to the doctors and she has a referral to ENT for lack of smell and bad balance
Letter is going to be written about health issues

She’s currently ill laid in bed but we need to leave in an hour for back to school. I just hope the school take her seriously house staff do but everyone else is like oh an abscess crack on Confused
Luckily if she needs to miss school ifs not so bad now as all content is covered

Nettleskeins · 16/04/2018 14:38

after being up all night again (on different timetable) ds has staggered off to school like a zombie. I think he is strangely relieved whenever he has to get up at a normal time Hmm

Strict instructions to tell us a) when his grade 8 exam is because we cannot book a holiday without knowing aaargh!
b) tell us what his most recent exam results were cos he still hasn't firmed his uni choice aargh mark 2!

I've spent most of today in a vain attempt to clear the house up. Dd is still here but she is in the library revising, ds2 and ds1 have gone back, but will return at 4pm..so not much time to remove the layers of crud from every surface. The shoes are the worst..I've put most of them in the garden to air.

Still the holidays were lovely. what a strain school is on the nerves!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/04/2018 18:23

dd has been given her expectations for revision - it's mind boggling the amount they are expected to do, on top of a full college day and travel.

Going to have to work out how to keep her going. I'm very glad she's stopped work for the time being.

DD has given up her Saturday job but is still. doing a bit of modelling for them in the evening from time to time. She is still visiting the horse every evening but I think she needs the horse smell.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/04/2018 20:43

They do need an outlet. A horse sounds perfect!

I need a horse to cuddle at the moment, between dd, my work and other stuff I can feel my anxiety levels are going through the roof.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/04/2018 21:02

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/04/2018 21:30

A - A - ACHOOOOOOO

I'm allergic to horses

UrsulaPandress · 16/04/2018 21:48

I'm a cat person but DD is allergic. Not that that mattered until we lost our last cat when she was 22. The cat not DD. I didn't feel I could inflict another on her.

She us of course allergic to horses.

HesMyLobster · 16/04/2018 22:55

What a beautiful horse!
I loved riding when I was young but was never lucky enough to have my own.
I had half a hope at the back of my mind when DD was little that she might get the pony-bug but dance got there first and there has never been time for anything else.

They do need a release.
DD has given up a couple of classes for the first time ever (she carried on doing the lot through GCSEs and AS) but she's finally realised she can't do it all.
She's still dancing 3 times a week, as well as teaching ballet on a Saturday morning and waitressing on a Sunday.

For now it seems manageable but when exams start she might have to drop a few more classes/shifts.
We'll see how she goes though.

She's insisting that she wants to dance in one final competition in May but we're waiting for them to release the final schedule before making a decision.

Then she'll have her Last Ever production at her drama school in July, but rehearsals won't ramp up for that until after exams thank goodness.

UrsulaPandress · 17/04/2018 07:03

Dd danced until her dance school sold to new people. She was never the best but enjoyed it. I still have all her show costumes hanging around in various wardrobes. 🤔

Does your dd work all day Sunday? She sounds very busy.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/04/2018 07:13

Wow Lobster, your dd is really busy.
