Grin chocolate!

I guess until the actual exams happen though, who knows what will happen, especially with the pressure on the day. It's just good that it doesn't seem impossible at this point. I was worried about it. Hopefully it will just click for your dds friend Lobster, it seems there's a cognitive leap, then it just slides into place. I'm glad it's not me though. Your dd seems really dedicated. Good for her!!

dreams - yes, but they've been based around losing dd, in one horrid dream she was swept away. It seems as though I may be having letting go issues. That's not a surprise!

I'm getting so irritated with ds in real life I don't need to have any dreams about him! Today he asked us to wake him at 10am tomorrow so he can get some revision in before school (exam day) We pointed out that today we had woken him no less than 4 times and he still had not got up until 2pm, so what was the point of relying on us to prompt him? He needed to wake himself up Angry Then he tried to steal ds's blue pen "I need it because I'm revising...oh the pettiness of siblings..

FantasyAndHope · 02/04/2018 22:32

Dd has being having dreams someone will come up the stairs and murder her Shock like Ann frank, she dreamt Nazi SS officers came and got her the other day
She has rather large cysts appearing and we’ve figured out its when she revises for 7hr which also coincides with why she doesn’t remember much if she does a 7hr day as opposed to 4/5hrs
hes
I’ve had worrying dreams but nothing like gcse’s

TeresasGreen · 03/04/2018 17:47

DD received a lovely “limited edition” print from Brum today. DH and I were all “oooo” and “ahhhh” and “they must really want you” and her reply was a simple “can’t be that limited if they’ve sent one to everyone with an offer Hmm”.

I’d love it if she would consider it though. It is the closest to home by quite a distance. With her MH being so shaky it would be good to know we could drop everything and be there in a couple of hours.

FantasyAndHope · 03/04/2018 18:32

Dd has 3 abscesses went to A&E on antibiotics, not what she needs currently she feels guilty for not revising and she refuses not to go to work tomorrow Hmm incase her manager gets arsey
She’s currently laid in bed aching going hot and cold....
It’s a never ending circle with her health and we’re all feeling a bit deflated

FantasyAndHope · 03/04/2018 18:32

Also Teresa
Dd has had similar things and I had a similar reply if it’s a marketing scam don’t be fooled Confused

TeresasGreen · 03/04/2018 18:49

I think most DC are fairly marketing savvy these days. I feel sorry for the unis trying to do the "choose us" dance tbh!

DD has made her choices (not finalised) so far on a mix of ranking for her subject, and the people she met on her interview/offer holders days and how much she liked the labs. My feelings are less and less rational. Blush

doistayordoigo · 04/04/2018 07:31

TeresasGreen DS also had the print from Birmingham yesterday, not that I've seen it...I had to wait for DH to get home from work to mention it as DS failed to. Although he did cook a chicken curry for dinner for himself and DS2 without having to ask too many questions so I'm taking that as a positive. If only he would make a decision though....

TheSecondOfHerName · 04/04/2018 09:05

Northampton sent DS1 a pair of socks! Grin

TeresasGreen · 04/04/2018 09:13

I now have sock envy. Grin

puppypower1 · 04/04/2018 09:42

We haven't had a print from Bham. Still sitting on 5 offers here, worried about hitting predictions so doing lots of past paper Qs. Suspect he will decide close to deadline - hasn't been to any holder days as didn't want to miss school (he has Saturday school), so all info being gathered from the internet 😳🤓

UrsulaPandress · 05/04/2018 08:38

Dd has had nothing. 🤔

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/04/2018 08:47

dd had an advent calendar telling her how much fun she would be having at that university each day the following Christmas if she went there.

Given that the university was shut for most of the period it covered we decided that was quite hard of thinking.

TheSecondOfHerName · 05/04/2018 10:13

DS1 is hoping that the freebies are a sign that the non Russell group universities are concerned that they might not fill their places this year (for the less competitive subjects).

He knows he is unlikely to meet the grades for his firm offer, but really wants to go there, so he's hoping they'll accept him anyway, with the somewhat lower grades he is actually likely to achieve.

FantasyAndHope · 05/04/2018 13:27

Dd is hoping goldsmiths will except with lower grades
She has to have her abscess operated on next week Confused
Very worrying with exams around the corner

YokoHama · 05/04/2018 13:36

Socks? Shock that’s another level.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/04/2018 14:14

Hopefully it will be a nice quick job Fantasy and that she will recover quickly. Rotten timing, but hopefully far enough away so that it's all sorted.

OP posts:
TheSecondOfHerName · 05/04/2018 15:13

Fantasy hopefully it'll be straightforward and she'll recover quickly.

This week's addition to DS1's bottom drawer / hope chest is a clip-on LED lamp, that could be attached to a desk or the headboard of a bed.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/04/2018 15:44

Doing better than us still TheSecond. We put a tray in an empty box.
It's a start!

OP posts:
HesMyLobster · 05/04/2018 17:27

Love your weekly update on the bottom drawer stash Second!
Lots of good ideas so far, keep them coming!
Although I am forbidden from even thinking about it, never mind buying anything yet! (Room set ups and requirements very different for DD's first choice than her insurance so any shopping one way or the other will obviously "jinx" it!)
I think we will be joining the scrum at IKEA the week after results day Hmm

HesMyLobster · 05/04/2018 17:29

Fantasy Fingers crossed your DD's procedure is simple with a fast recovery, and that her health improves now ready for exams Thanks

FantasyAndHope · 05/04/2018 21:46

Thankyou everyone! She’s been to work now laid in bed resting
I don’t envy her tomorrow, no amount of anaesthetic numbs the pain.
Hes
I suspect they will continue to worsen from now due to stress all the doctors can do is provide antibiotics and lance them, but it’s about managing the pain and stress

Dd is semi prepared for uni in regards to items because I’d of boarding school

starfleet · 05/04/2018 22:51

Wishing a quick recovery for your DD after her procedure next week Fantasy.

DS is 18 today. We have spent the day together which was just so lovely. I was told that under no circumstances could I make any speeches when we were out for his birthday dinner with the family....apparently the balloons and banners were enough fuss.

Littledrummergirl · 05/04/2018 23:04

Fantasy, wishing your dd a speedy recovery.
Starfleet, happy birthday to your ds.

We haven't got anything prepared for ds1 yet do you are far ahead of us on that front I still like the plan of him buying it all when he gets there Easter Grin

derekthe1adyhamster · 06/04/2018 09:12

I found DS in tears in bed yesterday (whilst he should have been revising) he'd had a message from his GF saying that her depression was coming back. Cynical Me thinks there may have been a correlation between these messages and the fact that we were away all day wednesday at a family funeral and he left his phone in the car, yesterday was DS 2's birthday and we were due to go out for a meal in the evening, today he's seeing an old friend and tomorrow we 're off to my mum's for the day = no time spent with her. So we went early for the meal and he went round there afterwards.
I know they are attracted because of the MH issues, but if she pulls any of these tricks during the exams it will floor him at the moment. I'm not really sure how to build resilience in him......
