From Too Good To Go! Have had mixed results previously, once I got some sourdough bread, organic lamb, organic pork and lots of veg for 4 quid! But last time it was a gone off artichoke, peaches and squashy bananas. Does anyone else use it?
One bag is from the local health food shop, and one from a local cafe. Might ask for recipe suggestions later depending on what I get.

We have a subway next to Budgens, I wish they did it!

There's a chocolate place on my app, magic bag for £10 ment to be worth £30 but I'm not sure if o should take the plunge or not. It's a bit different getting a rubbish one for £3/4

dizzyupthegirl86 · 19/07/2022 17:13

Yes possibly - I live near a medium size shopping centre and as far as I know, all of the Starbucks and costas there (six or seven?) are on there, but greggs aren’t.
I’ve got a fruit and veg bag to collect tonight from ‘the company shop’ - usually STONKING value.

I got one once for £8, which seemed like a lot. Honestly it was so disappointing, I complained about the value. That place now gets decent reviews but I could never bring myself to go back!
here’s a pic of it - not included was a leaking bottle of ‘butterbeer’

The Costa one is fab. I keep missing out on my local Costa

CharlieAndTooManyCharacters · 19/07/2022 19:02

I got 5 scones (3 fruit, 2 cheese) and 4 big bits of cake from a local cafe this afternoon. For £3.05.

dizzyupthegirl86 · 19/07/2022 19:25

No idea what I’m gonna do with 5kg of peeled potatoes but this was mine!

Do people ever try booze offers? There are a couple of breweries that do "magic pints" or cans. I tried one a couple of years ago and it was literally a couple of pints of their beer in a weird takeaway tetrapack milk carton kind of thing. Another brewery on there recently said they had manufacturing problems, so the offer was for cans that were mis-printed or may not be full, I would have tried those but it was an awkward collection time.

A local brewdog pub in town are on sometimes but they have a note saying the cans are listed as having been to the value of the price they're sold for in the bar - which makes me suspect it wouldn't really be a great deal compared to buying the same in a supermarket.

Justjoinedforthis · 20/07/2022 15:06

Magic Pints!!! Wow not heard of that before, but I like it!

dizzyupthegirl86 · 20/07/2022 15:23

I’ve tried them. Was bitter, it was awful. I’ve seen the brewdog one but I’m nowhere near. I’m fussier with beer than I am with food though!

DeanStockwelll · 20/07/2022 16:59

Ooh I like brewdogs hazy Jane . .

. .
Goes off on another search 🍺

I didn't get a magic bag today but I did go to our local Coop at reduction time and got the following for £3.50 total:

Chicken Caesar wrap
Single cream
450g yeo valley mango yogurt
2 packs puff pastry
Cabbage
Basil
Sweet potatoes

givemushypeasachance · 21/07/2022 11:04

I've just had a check of what's on at the moment and there's a pub in a town a few miles away with magic pints, £3.50 for three pints which is a bargain. I wonder if that would be in a tetrapack again! 12-2 middle of the day though and I'm at work, boo.

Several bubble tea/chai places locally do offers as well but always late evening which isn't practical for me where they're located.

I’m picking up two magic bags today. One from a cafe on the high street and one from a social enterprise shop/cafe in the city centre.

I need to distract myself from some shit life stuff so cycling around collecting magic bags (and then having a surprise assemblage of stuff for dinner) seems like a good way to spend my afternoon.

It might be cake for dinner and little else. But it’s a risk I’m willing to take!

CharlieAndTooManyCharacters · 21/07/2022 16:52

local cafe: 4 cheese scones and 4 strawberry blondies (£3.05)

social enterprise shop/cafe: 4 rolls, granola bar, a vegan main meal (in the box), bag of Doritos, packet of fudges, beetroot, big bag of sliced apple (£4).

NightOwl101 · 21/07/2022 17:45

That's a decent amount!!

I've managed to get one tomorrow from a really good bakery, everyday they go online they sell out within a few minutes and tomorrow they've only put one online which I got. I've had a horrible week so this has been a nice little smile

TheGriffle · 22/07/2022 23:51

I got 2 Costa ones again the day before yesterday but forgot to take a photo! In one bag I got a bacon roll, fruit salad pot, tuna sandwich and a ham and cheese toastie and in the second 2 sausage baps and a ham and cheese toastie. Sorted me and Dh out for breakfast one the first day and lunch on the second, dd2 ate the fruit pot on the way home from collecting the bags and dd2 ate the tuna sandwich as a snack before tea!

Bit meh about my two Greggs bags today - 4 sausages rolls and 2 baguettes in each. Decent enough value but would have liked at least something sweet! Not put off trying them again though.

That's loads for the price you've paid!
And I'd far rather fewer sweet things in fairness, but that's the point, you don't get the choice! 😀

Cafe Nero round here do regular bags and pastry bags. I wish they'd do savoury bags too!

Ah I know, I was just hoping for a Yum Yum to have with a cuppa after all my beige 😝 Our usual TGTG pick up is a hipster type artisanal bakery which does amazing value bags so we are a bit spoilt by that. As I said, I will definitely try Greggs again some time for the price as it fed us nicely as a picky Sunday night tea 😄

dizzyupthegirl86 · 25/07/2022 18:54

3.34 from the spar 30 seconds from where I was walking the dog. I wouldn’t have got it but for the fact that I was curious about what it did to deserve the whopping 4.9 rating!

I wish my local Neros did bags I love there brownies .

With coffee shops, cafes , takeaways I get that you would just walk up to the counter and ask , but who / where do you go to in supermarkets?

DeanStockwelll · 25/07/2022 23:16

@dizzyupthegirl86 , that's amazing , I don't like them burgers but I reckon them alone would cost you £3.
