From Too Good To Go! Have had mixed results previously, once I got some sourdough bread, organic lamb, organic pork and lots of veg for 4 quid! But last time it was a gone off artichoke, peaches and squashy bananas. Does anyone else use it?
One bag is from the local health food shop, and one from a local cafe. Might ask for recipe suggestions later depending on what I get.

I collected mine. One of the 3 bags got cancelled but I got from One Stop, 2 x 3 pack of onions, 1 x reduced sesame bagels and 2 x reduced bags of clementines. Not brilliant value really but worth the £1.99 I guess. Costa, no pastries which I was a bit gutted about but we got a tuna and sweetcorn sandwich, a tuna melt panini and a tomato and mozzarella panini so that’s lunch sorted for tomorrow for £3.

There is a knack to it I think. If you browse places in your area (the shopping bag at the bottom) and save the ones (heart at the top of them) even if they're sold out it pushes them to the top and adds them to the favourites so you get more of a chance of the good ones. It also says what time it sold out so you can check later on..

Seems I'm in Manchester like another poster but here are mine and I only got so many by saving them

This one was great though! The bags contain a rocky road and a sultana scone. Easy double the value it should have been, and only cost me £3!

I'm pretty addicted to too good to go, the lucky dip element appeals to my blind bag compelling roll the dice again nature! I'm in a biggish city that has a nice range of places. Probably best are independent bakeries - I've had bags with several loaves of sourdough or posh seedy bread, focaccia sandwiches, pastries and cakes. Chain places can be hit and miss - Greggs and Starbucks good at times. Once I think Costa gave me two untoasted vegan toasties and a croissant, and I thought that was pretty pointless. Carveries can be good! Used to like the hotel breakfast buffet ones but haven't been back since they've started up again just as the timings are often impractical for me. Co-op have just started up here. Sometimes you hope for treats and snacky things and end up with a bag of 'ingredients' and think sigh, the universe is telling me to stop being lazy and cook isn't it...

Greengrocers I've sadly had bad experiences with - tried a couple of places but always seem to get very bashed about, sad and wilted and bruised stuff. I'm fine with freezing overrripe bananas and making soup from old veg, but I don't really want yellowed broccoli, apples that are more bruise than not, and tomatoes with gaping holes in them.

Ooh @Starlightstarbright1 that looks like a good haul , would you mind saying how much it cost

NightOwl101 · 15/07/2022 22:56

I picked up my first from Starbucks tonight, I got:
1 blueberry muffin
1 strawberry and cream muffin
1 vegan cookie
1 bannofie loaf cake
1 crossiant

inappropriateraspberry · 16/07/2022 22:40

I picked up a couple on Thursday. A Costa and a Greggs. No photos I'm afraid. Mostly sweet stuff as I think it's not selling in the heat.
Costa: £3
Tuna sandwich
Pastrami sandwich
3 choc tiffin
2 tropical muffins
2 bakewell slices (gave to my mum as we don't like them!)

Greggs: £2.59
Chicken & bacon sandwich
4 yum yums
3 gingerbread men
1 muffin (smells like raspberry)

Pretty good value and given us all some treats over the weekend. All have kept well. Would have liked some more savoury maybe, but can't control what's left over!

DeanStockwelll · 16/07/2022 23:27

That's a great haul and very good value .

Everytime I looking its only ever Starbucks bags I never tried their food because I can't stand their coffee so I'm not sure whether it will be worth it it always seems to be at the wrong time I don't drive so I need something I can get to or from work not at 10 oclock at night.
I will keep hunting though

inappropriateraspberry · 17/07/2022 07:58

I live fairly rurally so, I only try and pick it up when I'm in town! There aren't many options as it's a small place, but there are a few fancier spots around that I'm tempted to try if timings work! We have a restaurant/deli type place at an old farm and there's a hamper place somewhere that sells chocolates and beer! Very interested in that one...

DockOTheBay · 17/07/2022 08:17

Well I went to order my first "surprise bag" today from Costa in my town. Pickup between 5 and 5.30. Drive down there and get a message at 4.58 to say the restaurant has cancelled.

Pretty off-putting for a first experience.

Justjoinedforthis · 17/07/2022 09:36

@DockOTheBay oh sorry how annoying!

I’ve got a greggs one later but I’m not sure I can be bothered going out at 8pm to get it!

At least maybe it will be less unbearably hot by 8 (if you’re somewhere where it’s hot). Good luck!

I cancelled it, I just had a feeling it’d be all sweet stuff like a previous poster had when what I want is things that can double up as lunch. But on my way back from the supermarket I nabbed another box of brownies.

inappropriateraspberry · 17/07/2022 16:22

Just reserved a Budgens one to collect tomorrow. Perfect timing as I pass it just at collection time! Interesting to see what I get.

PurplePeach62 · 18/07/2022 16:24

Thanks to this post I've had my first one from Greggs - four doughnuts, a tuna crunch baguette and a steak bake!
Really pleased!

DeanStockwelll · 15/07/2022 22:36

Ooh @Starlightstarbright1 that looks like a good haul , would you mind saying how much it cost

£3.59...

inappropriateraspberry · 18/07/2022 20:11

Picked up my Budgens bag. Had to wait while she took stuff off the shelves, I think because it was chilled items.

4 apples
2 packs of ham
4 small pots of fruit salad
A pot of tzatziki

Fruit salad is a bit fizzy, but the rest looks ok. Def worth more than the £3.39 but nothing amazing.

minesalargered · 18/07/2022 21:14

Mine from Subway today, what a haul, there were 7 cookies in the bag and all sorts of types of bread. £2!

Starlightstarbright1 · 18/07/2022 19:34

£3.59...

That's really good !

@minesalargered I didn't know subway did them depending on where I am working I can pass 4 on the way home I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for those

minesalargered · 18/07/2022 21:44

It's a Subway within my local petrol station, if that helps? Not sure if Subway chain participate, but assume so.

dizzyupthegirl86 · 18/07/2022 22:04

They do, but not many of them. On that note, I wonder why some branches of the same company are part of too good to go, but not all. There’s a greggs five minutes from me that’s not on there, but the one fifteen minutes drive away is!

DeanStockwelll · 18/07/2022 22:29

I wonder if its to do with the franchise I know all subways are franchise I don't know about Greggs so I maybe it's down to the managers of each shop rather than the chains themselves
