New thread for sharing Gousto recipes

I enjoyed the last Gousto thread but it seems to have disappeared so thought I would start a new one.
Anyone had a box this week?
I have had the Goan style basa and spinach curry which was really good. Also had the pork with bubble and squeak mash and the sesame hoisin chicken. All have been lovely so far. Just the Thai red curry to go now which I am looking forward to.

Ah I had this one…. Wasn’t into it at all, sorry! It was just a bit bland. The sauce never really came to anything, just tomatoey water. The pork belly itself was fine but the rest of it was just potato chunks and chickpeas with no real flavour.
It wasn’t hard to cook, and I did love the method of cooking the rice, but it wasn’t worth the money at all.

Does anyone else yet absolutely tiny shallots? I looked at the instructions ‘chop shallot into wedges’ and held up my m&m sized shallot, and thought…. How!

Tonight is the halloumi and muhammarah dish. Rated 4.2. But I’m getting more conscious of gas/electric usage so I’m loathe to put the oven on for half an hour just to blacken one pepper. Im wondering if I’d get the same effect charring it on the hob.

We had the loaded BBQ chicken cheesy fries tonight…they were so good!

Dizzyupthegirl86 I've postponed cooking it as have something else due to expire. I think I'll try it with passata instead of tinned tomatoes and see if that helps......
Love the sound of BBQ chicken loaded fries. I'm quite greedy - I tend to add an extra potato or two to recipes like this!

@TooMuchToblerone I’ve had an email about the recipe, it says ‘one of your ingredients has a shorter shelf life’ but the email itself actually has a change to the cooking instructions. So maybe they’ve ballsed up on the cards! Talk about timing :)

The BBQ chicken cheesy fries were amazing! I recommend them if they come up again.

I like the look of some of next weeks recipes but haven’t ordered a box as my husband is away all of next week.

@dizzyupthegirl86 I haven't had an email! Still not cooked it.
We had the salmon, lemon and herb spaghetti last night. Thought it was quite average. Nice enough but had higher hopes!

@TooMuchToblerone here you go - the card says 600 or 700ml of water I think.

Thank you @dizzyupthegirl86 just checked my recipe card and it says 600ml of water (or 1.1 litres if doubled up). I never got the email! Will use a lot less water.
Very naughty - they ought to refund something if the mistake makes it a bit yuk.

Yeah it was really watery and insipid. Hope you get on better with it now!

@dizzyupthegirl86 thank you - we actually rather liked this. I only used 500ml water for 4 servings which is less than half of what you have used. It must have made a big difference.

We had the butternut squash laksa tonight. Very tasty.

Does anyone have a good system for storing/organising the recipe cards? Like a tin they fit in or something?

You can get a folder from gousto to keep them. If you go to the marketplace thing once you’ve selected your recipes, you’ll find it there ( it’s free)

Yes, just scroll through the marketplace extras and you should see a red recipe folder which you can add for free. I have 3 of them and may soon need to add a 4th!

Hmm just looked through the marketplace for my next few upcoming orders and there’s no recipe folder option. Maybe they’re out.

Oh yeah, you’re right - I can’t see them on mine either. It’s the same packaging and colour as the vegan burger patties!

I also can't see them which is a shame as I wanted another too.

They come in and out of stock so check next time.

What are we all having this week?

I’ve not ordered, none of the next three weeks menus seem very inspiring for me. Next week is going to be a busy one so I haven’t really got the headspace for cooking new stuff every evening, and the week after is a bit uninspiring. Even the week after that when I looked yesterday didn’t wow me!

I haven’t got a box this week as my husband’s away. Next weeks choices didn’t wow me do plan to recreate some of our favourites. We have ordered a box for the week after though as I liked the look of the herb crusted Spanish style fish and the beef goulash.

We're getting a chorizo pasta, the mild curry, bolognese ragu with tortellini because it's quick, and beef empanadas - we've had them before and the kids really liked then.

@poshme I did the smoky beef empanadas tonight. They are lovely but I felt there was too little pastry for the amount of filling, and I did roll it out thinly. They ended up a bit misshaped and the filling falling out as I was determined to get it all on!

Oh do report back what the bolognaise tortellini is like. I really liked the look of that and would have ordered it if my husband had been home this week.

Another uninspired by the menus coming up. I'm trying a HelloFresh box next week. It's more expensive but I got a code from a friend.

I think the price rises have hit Gousto and this is the result
