I enjoyed the last Gousto thread but it seems to have disappeared so thought I would start a new one.
Anyone had a box this week?
I have had the Goan style basa and spinach curry which was really good. Also had the pork with bubble and squeak mash and the sesame hoisin chicken. All have been lovely so far. Smile Just the Thai red curry to go now which I am looking forward to.

I've got a box coming today, I'm picking different recipes from usual now as we are doing low carb. Is anybody else doing this ?

cubangal · 01/06/2022 08:54

Last week we had

Kansas ribs with bbq beans and wedges...I'm doing this today for a teenage gathering.
Peppercorn mushroom and steak sandwich (the low carb person skips the bread)
Greek cheese and crispy gnocchi (delicious as an occasional treat)
Rump steak with mustard sauce (no potatoes for the low carber)

What did you think?

Switched and DH had the chicken pittas as I forgot I had to take DD for her prom dress fitting 🙄 So will have the gnocchi tonight and the sticky pork tomorrow I think.

Not getting a box next week as I have no discounts 😛

florenceandthemac · 02/06/2022 08:54

What was the gnocchi like? I considered ordering that one.

I haven't had any discount codes for ages so have been paying full price for about two months, however I am saving quite a bit not doing a weekly online big stuff and buying things we don't really need!

pinkchampagne1 · 02/06/2022 09:29

We had the spicy prawn and tomato spaghetti last night. It was really quick and easy to prepare and we both enjoyed it.
Eating out tonight so having a night off cooking but think we will try the chicken laksa on Friday.

The gnocchi was delicious. I did it with peppers instead of courgette and added some charred sweetcorn with crushed red chilli.

CornishGem1975 · 02/06/2022 20:51

I liked the gnocchi too, though it perhaps wasn't as cheesy as I would have liked but then I have cheese issues 😛

Also - the sticky chilli pork was so good - loved that!

cubangal · 02/06/2022 23:49

I never get discount codes 🙄

CornishGem1975 · 03/06/2022 06:59

I just pause my subscription and within about 4-6 weeks I normally have a discount offer.

I like the Gousto boxes but I also really enjoy meal planning and looking for new things to cook so I quite enjoy my weeks between!

pinkchampagne1 · 03/06/2022 19:26

We had the chicken laksa tonight and really enjoyed it.

I have got offered a discount in the past when I pressed to cancel a delivery.

New box today for me. What has everybody else got this week?
I've just had delivered:
Mushroom risotto with crispy bacon
One-Pot Beef Keema Aloo Mattar With Naan
Spanish-Style Herby Cod & Crispy Chorizo Stew

pinkchampagne1 · 07/06/2022 17:59

We have had the Spanish style cod before - it’s really good!

We still have one meal left from last week’s box to cook so haven’t got a Gousto ordered this week.
I am really liking a lot of the new recipes that have been added today for the end of June though. I am struggling to know which 4 to pick!

Just had the cod, was so good!
And last night's aloo matar was delicious. Will defo make that again.

I have already done next weeks meals, but was looking a few weeks ahead before and there's a week where I can't choose anything! (Well there's probably a few things I like but will be high in calories so I tend to avoid really unhealthy ones ☹️)

pinkchampagne1 · 07/06/2022 21:14

I couldn’t find anything I fancied the week after next but saw lots I was tempted by the week of the 27th June. I don’t tend to go for the very high calorie meals either.

We have Korean style chicken udon noodle meal left to cook. Had the curried chicken kati rolls last night. The coriander chutney was a little too spicy so maybe shouldn’t have used the whole chilli.

OP posts:
florenceandthemac · 07/06/2022 22:20

What did you think of the actual kati rolls? I thought they were quite bland

florenceandthemac · 07/06/2022 22:20

Although I, surprisingly, enjoyed the coriander chutney

pinkchampagne1 · 07/06/2022 22:26

I thought they were quite bland too. I was excited to try them as they sounded really good but they didn’t wow me at all.

The mushroom and crispy bacon risotto was nice

29ac · 08/06/2022 22:10

I usually love our gousto recipes but this week has been a giant disappointment! We’re veggie and usually love the meals but this week both the black dal with herby kachumba and naan just tasted bitter and meh, and the roasted veg and meat free sausage pasta was also just so meh.

TooMuchToblerone · 09/06/2022 18:58

This week I've got:

  • Philly cheesesteak sandwich with potato salad
  • One pot beef keema aloo mattar
  • Creamy chicken curry loaded baked sweet potato
  • creamy bacon Alfredo with mushroom tortellini
Can't properly comment on these yet as only cooked the last one and only DH and DC had it but they liked it. However, having the Philly steak tonight - I genuinely imagined that there'd be Philadelphia or cream cheese with it! There's not.
BellePeppa · 09/06/2022 20:52

We had a burger, I think it was called a cream
tea burger or something. It was pretty good. I liked the chilli jam and clotted cream combo on the burger, which really surprised me.

pinkchampagne1 · 09/06/2022 22:06

I saw the cream tea burger but wasn’t sure if it appealed with the clotted cream.

I didn’t put too much cream on it as was a bit wary but it really wasn’t bad at all. It was good with the chilli jam. My teenage son and I both liked it and he can be quite critical of some of the recipes I choose.

pinkchampagne1 · 10/06/2022 08:18

Oh I might have to give it a try next time it pops up.

Has anyone tried the katsu chicken burger? I have added one to my order for a few weeks time.

every burger I’ve had has been lovely, but they are never that healthy and always a real faff to cook. And I resent cooking terrible chips (no air fryer) at the same time!
