New thread for sharing Gousto recipes

I enjoyed the last Gousto thread but it seems to have disappeared so thought I would start a new one.
Anyone had a box this week?
I have had the Goan style basa and spinach curry which was really good. Also had the pork with bubble and squeak mash and the sesame hoisin chicken. All have been lovely so far. Smile Just the Thai red curry to go now which I am looking forward to.

Yes we got the free popcorn too! Put it in the snack cupboard will give it a try on movie night.

Pee’d off this week that my general tso’s meat-free chicken has become tofu, I mean it will be tasty I’m sure, but I deliberately wanted to try the meat-free chicken!

How annoying. Did they email you to say they had replaced the ingredients? We have been sent parsley instead of dill to make the apple and dill slaw so had to make a supermarket trip to get the correct ingredient. They say they are having supplier issues.

Just had the Indian spiced fish fingers. Wasn’t sure what to expect as didn’t know whether curry flavoured fish fingers appealed to me, but we enjoyed them. Not sure I would order again but they were nice enough.

Is anyone still whipping up Gousto meals?
We had the Sri Lankan chicken curry tonight and it was so good. Definitely one to recreate.

Ive got one coming next week actually - my first in ages. They send me a 20% off voucher when I cancel the box which never works so then I have to get in touch so they apply it….

I have peanut and chicken stew with sundried tomato couscous, Korean beef and candied bacon burger, spiced beef with Greek cheese bulgar and trapanese pesto linguine.

Can’t actually say I fancy any of them now though!

It drives me mad that you can never get those discount codes to work! They need to get it sorted as they never ever work.

Hope you enjoy your meals this week. Sometimes it’s the ones we are least looking forward to that we enjoy the most. Smile

I have a box coming on Wednesday. It usually comes on a Monday but they delayed it due to Easter. I can't actually remember what I ordered.

We had Spanish style stew with herby cod and crispy chorizo last night, very tasty.

I also just made the Lebanese-style halloumi wraps for lunch. Very yum, but not wraps! They use naan breads like a loaded flatbread.

I’ve just made menu selections for week of 9th May, and there is a free Aperol spritz kit when you get to the market section!

I have a box coming next week. Tried a Hello Fresh this week but not very impressed. The meat and fish were all short dated, my courgette was battered and I have never seen such a tiny spring onion! The meals just don’t have as much flavour as Gousto either.

Last night we had the Chinese style chicken and sweetcorn stirfry.

Far too much 5 spice and it was very overpowering which was a shame. Very nice crispy chicken skin.

This evening we had the chicken with mozzarella & red pesto, with over roasted veg and rosemary roasted potatoes- delicious and I will be making it again.

The chicken dish sounds lovely.

I have a box coming this week. Had gone for the hot and sour prawn stir fry but just seen that the one review it has (it’s a new dish) has only one star so I have changed it for the oven baked prawn Thai curry which we have had before.

had my first box in ages this week!
trapanese pesto prawn linguine - decent actually, I don’t often have pasta dishes but I wouldn’t have put the flavours together myself, so glad I tried it!
spiced beef with feta bulgar - enjoyed it, nice kick to it and would make again
Korean beef burgers were a revelation. A bit of a faff to make but SO worth it!
just had the last one, chicken and peanut stew. Not sure I rate it, it was quite spicy and if I’d followed the timings to the letter, the chicken would only have been cooking for six minutes which didn’t seem right!

Korean burgers sound good.

I have just selected my meals for mid May from the new selection. Really liked the look of quite a few of the choices and found it hard to chose.

i agree actually, there was loads I could have chosen. Some new interesting sounding dishes.
i went for poutine, crispy chicken and Thai rice, chicken with apple and sage lentils and the buffalo chicken burger.

though I’ve just realised they are ALL chicken!

I have gone for the crispy chicken and Thai rice too as it looks tasty, the jumbo prawn bhuna with Bombay aloo and the lamb tortilla samosas. I was really tempted by the buffalo chicken burger too. Might have to add it!
