I'd be really grateful if you lot would critique our dinner tonight, to see how healthy/nutritious it is.

Each plate had:

55g rump steak
2 X baby potatoes roasted in olive oil
1/4 pink onion, roasted with pots
60g champignons, sautéed in butter
130g mixed salad
10g crispy noodles (on salad)
Approx 3tbsp mustard gravy, made with steak juices, tbsp wholegrain mustard, and a few gravy granules

I'm inAus, so it was tonight's dinner but we've just had it.

I've realised why the uproar, I miscalculated, and the steak portion was 110g each, so sorry for the confusion. I can see why that would seem ridiculous. All the other amounts were correct though.

I'm 10kgs overweight following illness so that's why I weigh everything. The noodles weren't sautéed, they were crispy on the salad. I realise it sounds a bit strange but it did kind of go.

I suppose I just wanted opinion as to how others thought of the meal.

This is such a strange thread Shock why champignons instead of mushrooms? Because they sound a bit posher? Make the meal sound less 70s steak Diane?

It's a tiny meal. You've already eaten it.

You say it's for tonight yet you've already eaten it and found it filling? Wtf?

RoganJosh · 29/06/2016 11:35

Why are you asking?

Dontyoulovecalpol · 29/06/2016 11:35

But this thread is worth it for the cheese- teaspoon for scale picture alone

Letmehaveausername · 29/06/2016 11:36

Fecking I would judge you if you didn't eat that cheese Grin

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 29/06/2016 11:37

its all god but why measure the veggies so tightly? have unlimited veggies

and yeah, 2 carbs! that's weird

SpaceUnicorn · 29/06/2016 11:38

But this thread is worth it for the cheese- teaspoon for scale picture alone

Here's a teaspoon/noodle comparator Grin

SpaceUnicorn · 29/06/2016 11:39

Oh bugger, it won't attach the pic Sad

WorraLiberty · 29/06/2016 11:40

It sounds lovely and I would be very happy and stuffed after that.

I had to Google 'champignons' and was rather surprised to find they're button mushrooms Grin

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 29/06/2016 11:41

Believe me, there's nothing posh about me. I called them champignons as that's what they were called in the grocery store. I don't really do mushrooms, maybe that's why.

Again, I was purely curious as to what others thought. As for the two carbs, the noodles were honestly only 10g crispy noodles on the salad, so really hardly a second carb.

KoalaDownUnder · 29/06/2016 11:43

It sounds pretty normal to me.

The crispy noodles are obviously just to add a bit of texture to the salad. I don't think they count as an 'extra carb'.

GoudyStout · 29/06/2016 11:43

Nice starter - what's the main course?

SantanaBinLorry · 29/06/2016 11:43

Im imagining the gravy was more of a thick sauce on the steak, rather than a boat full of runny stuff?
Salad and sauce normal were I live.

Sounds like a nice meal now we know the steak was a proper size. Id cry if someone served me a 2oz steak Grin
Maybe a touch salty with butter/granuals/mustard???

Im more interested in how you did your crispy noodles? Pray tell...

KoalaDownUnder · 29/06/2016 11:44

Cross-posted!

MitzyLeFrouf · 29/06/2016 11:44

It's probably a zucchini/courgette things.

KoalaDownUnder · 29/06/2016 11:47

Nah. Champignons are very small, closed-cap mushrooms. They're a type of mushroom, like enoki or shiitake.

Benedikte2 · 29/06/2016 11:51

If someone else cooked it I'd eat it with enjoyment and thank you and mean it.
If one hates gravy on salad one can eat it from the side plate. Personally I'll eat salad with almost anything except stew and soup.
BTW there are many types of mushrooms and that's why these would have been labelled differently. They were probably displayed next to Porto Bellas or some such.
The meat portion is about right IMHO many people, especially men, eat too much red meat.

FeckinCrutches · 29/06/2016 11:53

LetMe yeah the cheese didn't last long. I was having cheese and onion on toast with Worcester sauce.

Notso · 29/06/2016 11:56

Weird.

firesidechat · 29/06/2016 11:56

It's a teeny tiny meal. Something you might get in a 6 course tasting menu. I would starve to death if all my meals were so small.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/06/2016 11:57

Salad and sauce/ gravy normal in my house!

Tiny steak, that's one mouthful for my teen ds, he'd cry!!

VioletBam · 29/06/2016 11:58

It sounds Australian people. I'm in Oz too and the things OP has listed are NOT unusual served together here.

OP it sounds lovely to me.

CocktailQueen · 29/06/2016 12:00

Sounds nice, but small. 2 baby potatoes? That's 2 mouthfuls! I wouldn't have the crispy noodles on top of salad.

I'd have had some more substantial veg than onion/mushrooms/salad, which are mainly water.

Why are you asking??

firesidechat · 29/06/2016 12:01

And gravy and salad on the same plate?

And the noodles?

And steak and gravy?

Confused
VioletBam · 29/06/2016 12:05

Fire I often have a side of salad with my roast dinner. I do think it's a particularly Aussie thing. It's no different to broccoli or something really. I have rocket.
