I'd be really grateful if you lot would critique our dinner tonight, to see how healthy/nutritious it is.

Each plate had:

55g rump steak
2 X baby potatoes roasted in olive oil
1/4 pink onion, roasted with pots
60g champignons, sautéed in butter
130g mixed salad
10g crispy noodles (on salad)
Approx 3tbsp mustard gravy, made with steak juices, tbsp wholegrain mustard, and a few gravy granules

"Google says that pink onions are just plain old red ones."

Surely pink can never be "plain old red"?Sad

KoalaDownUnder · 29/06/2016 16:38

Feckin , OMFG 😂😂😂

SpaceUnicorn · 29/06/2016 16:38

Dinner From Down Under

Grin

(Not to disparage your efforts, but it does look mank)

FeckinCrutches · 29/06/2016 16:40

Unfortunately not having everything to hand, you will have to pretend the lemon is an onion, and the grapes are champignons, and the chutney is mustard gravy, and the cheese is the steak. But it's art innit?

SantanaBinLorry · 29/06/2016 16:43

I too disagree with the pink onion being a plain old red onion...
wishes I didnt use up pink onions in yesterdays salad so I could provide photographic evidence

KoalaDownUnder · 29/06/2016 16:54

Santana, thank you for noticing my rather avant-garde photographic arrangement; we do like to do things a little differently down here. Wink

And yes, everything is slightly larger. To wit:

There are times when MN pisses me right off. And there are times when I could snog you all. This thread is hysterical GrinGrin

SantanaBinLorry · 29/06/2016 17:04

What can I say KoalaDownUnder I have an eye for great art, obvs!

That link has made my day, I didnt think anything could get better than this thread Grin
I can decide what is my fave,.the big boxing croc or the terrifying massive koala, or the prawn...or the potato!
Also, Big Ayres Rock is surely small Ayers Rock..
Confused

SantanaBinLorry · 29/06/2016 17:05

Can't !!!

StickTheDMWhereTheSunDontShine · 29/06/2016 20:52

TheFirie do they not cook with butter in France, like? because it's news to me, if they don't

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 30/06/2016 00:08

Wow, I have woken to a lot of teaspoony strangeness!! But it has made me laugh. I honestly never knew our meals were so strange.

Just so you don't all think I'm nuts more than you already do, I give you, baby potatoes, and pink onion, but sadly no teaspoons:

Glad you've taken it in good spirit OP Grin

AuldYow · 30/06/2016 00:26

Grin brilliant thread and unexpected teaspoon art deviation. I love MN

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 30/06/2016 07:44

It was very funny. I won't be in a rush to share future menus though! Grin

Caffeinator · 30/06/2016 08:34

But what size are everyone's teaspoons? These were bought from the same shop, look at the difference.

SantanaBinLorry · 30/06/2016 09:01

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat Glad you found it funny, and I thought your meal sounded lovely (still like to know how you do your noodle tho!) We have much smaller meals in a warmer climate, we'd not be ae to move here with a good 'ol british sized dish.

Caffeinator Whhhhhaaa?!?!
Actually, I think the smaller one is a 'condiment' spoon?

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 30/06/2016 09:14

Ah, sorry Santa, forgot you asked. Take fine chow mein noodles, soak in hot water for five minutes, drain and pat dry with paper towels, then lightly fry in a very little sesame oil until crisp, pat again with paper towels, then once cooled, store in air tight containers, all broken up. Yum Smile

FeckinCrutches Grin, you win the thread!

FeckinCrutches · 30/06/2016 09:36

Thanks Grin

FeckinCrutches · 30/06/2016 09:37

So your crispy noodles are like those things we used to get in Vesta Curries in the 80's?

SantanaBinLorry · 30/06/2016 09:49

So your crispy noodles are like those things we used to get in Vesta Curries in the 80's?

Thats what Im hoping!! Cheers OP.

And yes, well done FeckinCrutches (manky). Dinner Down Under is a work of art Grin

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 30/06/2016 09:49

I've never heard of a vesta curry. Were they nice?

Actually I'm embarrassed to say that your meal, feckin, if you removed the two minute noodles, looks tasty enough. I'm starting to reckon I'm weird.

OP posts:
GoudyStout · 30/06/2016 09:56

This is a Vesta curry (I can't swear to that being a tea spoon though).

I'll leave it up to you to decide if "nice" is a suitable description.
