you alright skerries? LOL

Avalon · 08/12/2005 12:59

Yes, DC.

skerriesmum · 08/12/2005 13:00

No... ha ha. Must be the Canadian winter freezing my brain cells! Anyway it's the Irish shopping bill website that had a report on which brands were healthiest, best value, etc. so if you go to their homepage you can link to the article.

DaddyCoolNippingAtYourNose · 08/12/2005 13:01

Avalon - I like that one where the woman is looking forward (profile) and the other tart is wide mouthed saying something funny to her and it's the advert for the shopping.

I always think she must be saying "this place is sooo crap eh?" and the other one is nodding and smiling and saying "yes. yes, it certainly is"

throckenholt · 08/12/2005 13:04

we have Bird's Eye ones about once every fortnight - but I must admit I wonder about the crumb coating and the colourings in it - in an idle - can't be bothered to find out about it kind of way.

DaddyCoolNippingAtYourNose · 08/12/2005 13:04

the colour is paprika.

throckenholt · 08/12/2005 13:05

just read back through the thread - is the orange colour really just paprika ? May have to go and google now

DaddyCoolNippingAtYourNose · 08/12/2005 13:06

i'm pretty sure it is. the only E number I think is just baking powder.

DaddyCoolNippingAtYourNose · 08/12/2005 13:07

oh no, sorry, that's nuggets. I'm all confused now.

Enideepmidwinter · 08/12/2005 13:08

I do fish fingers despite being a no junk nazi.

the batter ones are MUCH nicer than the breadcrumb ones btw

DaddyCoolNippingAtYourNose · 08/12/2005 13:09

batter ones? i've never tried the batter ones. i do like ff's. I never have them (because I'm 30!) but if I do have the odd bit off DS's plate, I find them very tasty indeedy.

ParrupupumScum · 08/12/2005 13:09

I like fish fingers too. Might have some for lunch in fact.

throckenholt · 08/12/2005 13:10

aha - google saves the day !

Cod Fillet (64%), Batter (Water, Wheat Flour, Potato Starch, Salt), Breadcrumbs (With natural colours: Curcumin, Paprika Extract), Sunflower Oil

throckenholt · 08/12/2005 13:10

now I will have to find something else to ponder while cooking them - maybe what goes into the onion rings they also have with them ?!

DaddyCoolNippingAtYourNose · 08/12/2005 13:12

onions?

throckenholt · 08/12/2005 13:12

I had them a lot while pregnant - in a pita bread with spring onions and tomato ketchup - yummm

DaddyCoolNippingAtYourNose · 08/12/2005 13:12

ooh, that sounds nice!

Avalon · 08/12/2005 13:13

What does the Cap'n say about his dippers?

Enideepmidwinter · 08/12/2005 13:14

honest try the batter ones

they are LUSH

throckenholt · 08/12/2005 13:14

google asked me if I meant birds eye diapers - is that a freudian slip ?

OComeOliveFaithfOil · 08/12/2005 13:15

My dad looks like Captain BirdsEye.

Of no relevance whatsoever to this thread though.

I need a lie down.

throckenholt · 08/12/2005 13:15

chicken dippers Ingredients

Chicken (51%), Batter (Wheat Flour, Cornflour, Salt, Maize Starch, Skimmed Milk, Powder, Breadcrumbs, Baking Powder (contains Raising Agents: E450, E500)*), Water, Sunflower Oil, Breadcrumbs, Salt, Natural Flavouring

  • E450 and E500 are the basic ingredients of Baking Powder, which is used to make the batter light and crispy.

same promise as with FF

Enideepmidwinter · 08/12/2005 13:16

batter ones probably less healthy

but my children are skin and bone so I don't care

god they are good in a white bread sarnie with loads of tartare sauce

OComeOliveFaithfOil · 08/12/2005 13:18

Usually end up in the bin anyway.

Enideepmidwinter · 08/12/2005 13:19

about the non-homemade nuggets

they ARE shite

the chicken crap that goes into them

a friend bought them for the dds when we went to stay - they STANK
