Wanted to start a thread about the new Michael Jackson film, just got home from watching it!

I don’t know why the critics are slating it, I absolutely loved it! Yes, it didn’t show his whole life picture but I think people are forgetting this was just showing one era of it … there is no way you could fit his life story into a 2 hour film!

What’s your thoughts if you’ve seen it ???

OP posts:
Illbefinejustbloodyfine · Today 10:30

@Unforgettablefire I know you werent addressing me, but I remember watching a documentary and thinking WHAT THE FUCK ARE THESE PARENTS THINKING??? Absolutely not.

That said, one if my dc loves his music, I do too if Im honest. We have seen the film yesterday. Dc knows about the allegations, and that he was not found guilty.

The thing, for me, is that MJ was one of a kind. I dont think you can compare to Jimmy Saville and Gary Glitter. Neither produced the music, videos etc that MJ did. Neither had that huge worldwide folliwing, millions and millions of fans. This does NOT excuse it at all. I cant even really explain what i mean tbh.

No of course there’s no disputing his talent.
I loved his music too but like millions of others I can’t enjoy it now.
And millions thought Jimmy Saville was the bees knees all that money he made for charity. They hide in plain sight there’s no defence and people allowed it to carry on.

I would like to see people boycotting this or the money made from it to be shared out amongst the victims but that’s not going to happen.

No, it would be quite hard to explain you and your son going to watch a film that celebrates the life of a man who slept with little boys.

Allegedly.

Foughties · Today 14:02

I thought the sleepovers were fact. Is that not right?

Illegally18 · Today 14:08

Unforgettablefire · Yesterday 22:19

Do you have kids?
Hand on heart would you have been comfortable leaving them to sleep in his house overnight knowing what he was accused of?

Yeah, but the parents of the alleged victims allowed their children to sleep in his house overnight. Who does that? The parents are guilty of pimping/trafficking.

Araminta1003 · Today 14:09

Jaafar Jackson was outstanding! The whole thing surrounding MJ is and always will be controversial. They did portray him as very “different” from the norm, right from the start.
Any idea why Janet Jackson was not alluded to at all? Perhaps she did not agree to be included.
Also, I read there might be a Part 2, but could be rumours.

I meant his sexual abuse of children

Alleged... I don't believe it.

Janet disagreed with the movie and her family profiteering from Michael. There will be a second. "The story continues" was on screen at the end.

Foughties · Today 14:18

The parents were groomed too.

Stop excusing him.

I was at the cinema when the trailer for this was shown and there was a collective gasp and a couple of ‘wtf’s. I’m really shocked this has been made and that people are eagerly planning to see it

Thank goodness! Was thinking the world had gone mad. As I said, I was a huge fan from childhood, but, you know, duck butter.

Yeah yeah of course there was 🤔😏

PeonyBulb · Today 15:11

DD went to see it last night with her BF and they both said it was brilliant

PurpleEmerald · Today 15:14

It looks like a visually incredible film and the two actors playing Jackson are striking in their appearance and mannerisms but come on… we’re not going to watch a film about Jimmy Saville, Ian Watkins or Rolf Harris’ childhoods are we?! I know Jackson was never convicted but you must be willfully ignorant or incredibly naive to believe he was totally innocent. Believe women but not children it would seem.

Janet didnt want anything to do with it I understand, due to her brothers crimes

In my heart I believe he was guilty of child abuse, so I don't want anything to do with him and am not quite sure why he's still so lionised.

Me too. It's weird.

The parents were beyond stupid, no denying that. They made it really easy for a disgusting monster to abuse there little boys, it’s neglectful and criminal. It doesn’t change the reality that a fully grown man SA little boys. If there’s a hell let’s hope Jackson is burning in it.

That’s right. People, including me, were appalled.

amibeingaknob · Today 17:45

I saw the trailer at the cinema too the other day - there were audible gasps, and someone muttering about nonces. Me and my fella were utterly shocked it has been made. We talked at length about it afterwards actually, and said as much as we loved his music (80s kids), and what an icon he was at the time, there is no way we could watch it. We googled it and the proceeds all go to the Jackson estate to. So again - no way. I am so pleased others feel the same, as I was reading the first posts of this thread I felt like I had fallen into a parallel universe! People taking their DCS and DGDs - I mean WTF!

Wrong🙄. She wanted to protect her brother's legacy if you care to check out her Instagram.

Im not on instagram and read it somewhere else

Ok so thats not the reason then you say, thats a shame. Both the sisters at one point seemed to have come to their senses (actually I think there might be another sister somewhere) and understood the horrible reality about their brother but then both must have back tracked. I see them both as incredibly vulnerable as well so like others he has hoodwinked, they're included.

Apparently Janet has also fallen out with Jermaine. Possibly because of his allegations?
