We’ll…that was bloody good!

I enjoyed it, felt it was the end of an era. Ive liked really all of the Bond films. Sean Connery, Roger Moore etc played to a different era. I still get chills when I hear Shirley Bassey sing Goldfinger, the very first Bond film I ever saw, then I was hooked. Personally, I think they should end it with this one. Good luck to Daniel Craig in his next venture. He really is a superb actor and remember him for his brilliant role in Layer Cake all those years ago. No Time to Die was rather poignant at the end.

I liked it! Forgot who people were from the previous film but on a whole...Nice little send off!! Be interesting to see where it goes from here..

Those eyes!

I'm already trying to talk DH into New York next March....... Daniel Craig is doing MacBeth on Broadway for 15 weeks. Interestingly, Barbara Broccoli is producing this. I wonder if he will have some sort of production role on future Bonds, tbh.

BasiliskStare · 08/10/2021 14:05

@BrilloPaddy - Oooh v interesting I will tell DH and DS about that. Flowers

His eyes really are beautiful

I mostly liked it, but unsure about children being put in harms way, they’ve not done that before with Bond and I may be a big old softee but it made the film uncomfortably tense at time.
There will be more James Bond, it’s worth too much for there not to be.

I nearly cried at the end though. I think once he knew he was infected that he had to sacrifice himself because he wouldn’t be able to keep Madeline or Mathilde safe, because he couldn’t touch anyone ever again. Once the virus / bots are ‘out there’ they would just keep on moving between people until they found their target.

On the whole I thought it was a good send off for Daniel Craig’s Bond

MsWalterMitty · 09/10/2021 09:43

The only thing my 12yr old had to say about it was “who’s going to tell the Brockman kids that their dad is dead” 🤣

MsWalterMitty · 09/10/2021 09:45

@escapeyou

I agree the clothes were fantastic. Particularly Mr Bond in his black jumper which, when he took it off he wore a white long sleeve top with braces. Gorgeous!
Yeah, I liked the henley and braces look too strangely
MsWalterMitty · 09/10/2021 09:55

Right at the end of the credits it said ‘Bond will return’

KillingMeDeftly · 09/10/2021 10:18

I saw that too @MsWalterMitty but apparently that's standard in the end credits of all Bond films so who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 09/10/2021 18:47

I saw it today and feel quite numbed by it. I go to see Bond for action and escapism and the knowledge that no matter what preposterous situation he finds himself in, he comes out on top. I wasn't expecting to leave feeling quite so steam-rollered.

What would have been SO wrong with leaving him to retire with his little family to a Norwegian cabin?

PatButchersEarring23 · 09/10/2021 22:38

Can someone explain how the character of James Bond can return now he's died? I get that Daniel Craig is leaving and that 007 can be anyone, but James Bond is the character and now he's supposedly dead?! So how can someone else play the character?

Sorry if this has already been discussed.

MrsFin · 10/10/2021 00:42

He's probably not actually dead. Just badly injured or something.
Or it was all a dream, like Bobby Ewing's death

PatButchersEarring23 · 10/10/2021 08:25

I don't see how he can't be dead. And if he weren't dead surely he would be with his family. It was a good film but I left feeling very perplexed and a bit flat at that ending.

MrsWhites · 10/10/2021 10:11

Seen it last night, I thought it was a good film as an ending to Daniel Craig’s era but not necessarily a good Bond film if that makes sense.

I think he’s definitely dead, don’t think they would have gone down that route if they weren’t going to kill off the character. I think it opens doors for them to use a different actor as the next 007 and run the franchise in that way. They even hinted at that by giving the new agent the 007 status in this film.

PatButchersEarrings67 · 10/10/2021 11:35

They can use another actor/character as 007 but James Bond is a person so if he's dead then surely the next Bond can't be a Bond.

Hels20 · 10/10/2021 11:55

It has to be a complete reboot. They never refer to the Diana Rigg character as JB’s wife - instead we had the whole Vespa thing. He is dead but that had to the outcome. How many times had he tried to retire?!

I think they will reboot. If Spider-Man can do it then so can JB.

MsWalterMitty · 10/10/2021 15:12

It’d be cool if they did prequels and went back in time, using a younger Bond… like StarWars

FlorenceWintle · 10/10/2021 16:42

Just like they do with Spider-Man, Star Trek, Batman and whatever. New actor, new story arc but the same character.
Parsnipsandgravy · 10/10/2021 16:56

As someone who finds action films really boring and has half seen one other Bond (a Brianna one), I went last night and thought it was brilliant! Really exciting, moving and thought the cast was brilliant.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/10/2021 18:29

Bond doesnt have to die just because he cant see Madeleine who he hasnt seen for 5 years, and the whole daughter business, slightly annoying
i think he might appear again,

MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/10/2021 18:30

but he may of course be dead.

KillingMeDeftly · 10/10/2021 18:33

@MrsLargeEmbodied It wasn't so much that he could never see her again but that he could never touch anyone again without the worry that they'd touch someone else who'd touch someone else who'd touch someone else etc who'd touch Madeleine or Mathilde and kill them.

PeppermintMocha · 10/10/2021 18:40

Of course, they could solve that by killing off Madeleine and Mathilde!

And have Bond survive in some improbable and ridiculous way by diving off the cliff and being rescued in some bizarre coincidence.

We might see the new Bond living it up in seclusion in some remote place, with the world believing he's dead... until a few trusted people get wind of it, and it all starts again.

I doubt it, of course! I think he must be dead and they'll just restart it somehow without explanation. But they could do something like that if they wanted to.

It would be hard to do too much in terms of prequels etc as the normal gadgets we have on phones and computers and other tech wouldn't be available, so making all the amazing new Bond-gadgets would be strange as even things that seem ordinary to us now would have been Bond-esque 20 years ago (well maybe not quite!).

Parsnipsandgravy · 10/10/2021 18:46

Brosnan not Brianna 😆
