Please tell me which horror film/s made you genuinely scared (preferably a jumpy one)?

I've always loved horrors (except for a few years after I had my DCs and for some reason just could not watch them) but now I can't seem to find a single one that I find actually scary at all...Interesting and entertaining, yes, but not scary. Help!

Insidious did it for me.

Hungry675tf · 17/09/2021 22:56

Not really horror, but The Trueman show messed with my head for years.

FrownedUpon · 17/09/2021 23:01

Suspiria

merrygoround88 · 17/09/2021 23:01

Not a horror but I didn’t sleep after silence of the lambs

ShaneTheThird · 17/09/2021 23:02

I watched suspiria the other day and I still don't know wtf I watched...

nannannanana · 17/09/2021 23:03

28 days later. It terrified me
The sciences of london just with no one about. Omg

Durbeyfield · 17/09/2021 23:04

I can’t take horror films any more but Dark Water was unbearable (the ending!!) all of it!!

FireandBrimstone · 17/09/2021 23:04

The Babadook

And Sinister (omg, the creepy music 😱)

pickingdaisies · 17/09/2021 23:04

The ring (Japanese original)
Blair witch project.
One whose name escapes me, something like Inheritance, but not that, anyone know what I'm thinking of?

Durbeyfield · 17/09/2021 23:05

I should add - the Japanese Dark Water ( not the US version)

AlbertBridge · 17/09/2021 23:05

The Conjuring 2. 😱

fedup078 · 17/09/2021 23:05

@pickingdaisies insidious?

PivotPivotPivottt · 17/09/2021 23:06

The conjuring

FireandBrimstone · 17/09/2021 23:06

@pickingdaisies is it Hereditary?

pickingdaisies · 17/09/2021 23:06

Forgot the babadook! Also the Invisible Man had me jumping out of my seat the other day

QuestionableMouse · 17/09/2021 23:06

Event Horizon. Will never watch it again.
The Descent. I'm claustrophobic so had an extra layer of scary!
13 Ghosts - no idea why but it really got to me!

JessCat75 · 17/09/2021 23:06

Placemarking, love a good horror movie..

Birdkin · 17/09/2021 23:07

The Descent

ichundich · 17/09/2021 23:07

The Hole is truly awful and depressing.

VienneseWhirligig · 17/09/2021 23:08

Creep. It made me wary of the tube at night for ages after.

(I was brought up on horror films by my grandmother, I lived with her from 6 and we used to watch them on her black and white TV in bed at night so even the Haunting of Hill House didn't scare me)

fedup078 · 17/09/2021 23:08

House on haunted hill scared me when it first came out but I find nothing really makes me jump these days
The Woman in Black scared me at the cinema . I don't like watching horror at the cinema

LukeEvansWife · 17/09/2021 23:08

Patrick. It’s a 1970s Australian film and it’s mainly a man in a coma and a nurse. I was so cynical before I watched it but spent several hours watching comedies after because I was too scared to go to bed

pickingdaisies · 17/09/2021 23:09

@FireandBrimstone yes, thank you! It was absolutely terrifying ( until a bit near the end which made me snigger) but I saw it at the cinema and held on tight to DH all the way home.

Miliao · 17/09/2021 23:09

Dark Water (original) is scary. Shutter (original) also quite scary.
