I'm looking for knock-your-socks off romance - bonus points if it's available on prime! Any recommendations?

I love Definitely Maybe and About Time!

MotherOfDragons27 · 01/08/2018 23:24

Me before you is not your typical romantic film but it's beautiful.

restingbf · 01/08/2018 23:31

Titanic

DianaT1969 · 01/08/2018 23:34

Once - set in Dublin, indie film about 2 musicians.
Others here will hate it, but I liked Sex & The City 1.
Bridget Jones 1.
Dirty Dancing
Ghost
You've got Mail
Sleepless in Seattle

Not exactly a romance, but good, Celia Imrie & Imelda Staunton's 'Finding your feet'

annandale · 01/08/2018 23:34

Gregory's Girl
Persuasion (ciaran hinds version)

NapQueen · 01/08/2018 23:35

Serendipity
Youve got mail
Notting hill
Cruel intentions, in its own odd way.

RosemaryHoight · 01/08/2018 23:36

I just finished a book called Call Me by your Name. The film is meant to be more moving than the book.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 01/08/2018 23:58

I wanted to like Serendipity but I felt so sorry for his fiancee

I bloody love Gregory's Girl. And Truly Madly Deeply. Sadly romantic, I'd go for The Remains Of The Day.

Movablefeast · 02/08/2018 00:21

Another vote for Truly, Madly, Deeply especially because it stars Alan Rickman and Juliet Stevenson.

needyourlovingtouch · 02/08/2018 00:31

Gone with the wind?
Truly madly deeply
The English patient

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/08/2018 00:34

Holding the man.

Forkrightorf · 02/08/2018 06:27

Lots of good ones, thank you for the suggestions. DH is away this evening so I've got some ideas to watch without him moaning. I might got for Truly Madly Deeply.
@Shosha1 Outlander is my fave, I've already watched the whole lot twice Blush

An old, old black and white movie with Bette Davis, Paul Henreid and Claude Rains, called "Now, Voyager" (first half, bogs down a bit in the second half).

It's probably awfully dated, but I love it. Swelling violins, a Cinderella story, soulful and longing glances, fantastic use of cigarettes and one of the best last lines in a film.

Patchworkflock · 02/08/2018 06:44

@grumblebumble you are so right. Breaks my heart every time. Beautiful.

Forkrightorf · 02/08/2018 06:56

@froodledoodle that sounds amazing, I love old movies. I'll look it up, thank you.

I was going to say The Silence of the Sea but you can't get it for love nor money, well. you can on Amazon for £60 Shock

So I'm going with The Notebook.

zippey · 02/08/2018 07:07

I love Casablanca.
Sense and Sensibilty with Kate Winslet and Emma Thompson is fab.
I like Howard’s End as well.

LadySpratt · 02/08/2018 07:09

Pride and Prejudice - the BBC version with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. 6 hours of pure joy.

Secretsquirrel101 · 02/08/2018 07:14

About Time, it's such a lovely film and makes me really think every time I watch it! Plus it's quite funny too Grin

SergeantPfeffer · 02/08/2018 07:14

Strictly Ballroom

foofooyeah · 02/08/2018 07:18
