If you've seen it, come here!

I m a bit sad about there being no more related characters. Dd thinks the kid at the end is a relative of Obi but I can't see how.

Loved the ending with Luke but I was surprised all the old guard have now gone.

Hated the hamster like creatures. It feels like R2D2 was 'cute' so they try to include 'cute' in the films.

Was obvious Kylo Ren and the killing of his enemy.

Noeuf, you're right. Luverly hair.

Not too keen on the facial growth though, but I remain a keen admirer of the resplendent locks. 😍

Unfortunately it looks like he already has his eye on Rey as future wifey material.

Hauntedlobster · 15/12/2017 22:52

Super leia was ridiculous

BelfastBloke · 15/12/2017 23:48

Those of you who are starting to love Kylo Ren, are you familiar with Adam Driver's other work? Particularly in Girls?

My wife started off that programme hating him (and his looks) and then fell for him hard. Was that the character or the actor...?

ButchyRestingFace · 15/12/2017 23:58

For me, it's all about the hair.

He was no oil painting on Girls. But his character had to put up with whiny ol' Hannah, so maybe that piqued your wife's "rescue" instincts.

SouthWestmom · 16/12/2017 00:11

Not seen him in anything else.

I liked the purple haired woman - didnt see her being a 'goodie'

Assumed the coder would rescue Rose and Finn at the end

Think Ray and Kylo are less controlled as Vader etc , not sure if they are as powerful.

Just back from seeing it with DS1(14).

We both really liked it, overall.

Annoying cutsey creatures were too obviously a marketing opportunity for me to like them Hmm
Some continuity errors in a couple of really complex scenes (bothered DS1, not me)
Some plot lines did not make sense IMO (bothered me, not DS Grin): why on earth go off on hugely dangerous mission (Finn/Rose/code breaker) when the plan was to get off the ship on the transporters and to the abandoned rebel base in the first place?? And why did Laura Dern's character not tell Poe that there was a plan and what it was??
Unnecessarily complicated and makes it harder for me to suspend my disbelief.

Lizzzar · 16/12/2017 05:35

This does now appear to be totally messed up Disney (still with marketing opportunities); maybe the warped love of Kylo Ren and Rey could balance the galaxy. But no more quasi revolutions and things blowing up, so probably not.

Dozer · 16/12/2017 08:33

He was great in Girls too, nasty yet vulnerable. Ugly/attractive.

He “negged” Rey, saying “you’re nothing” etc “but not to me” - and she didn’t fall for it and rejected him.
Which was good.

Disagree about Rose - good character and good to see a woman of asian ethnicity in a role like it. And much as I like john boyega it wouldn’t have made storyline sense for Finn to have been in the “main” plot, and Poe deserved a good plot too. I just didn’t buy Rose’s love for finn.

Have just arranged to see it again after xmas while on a trip to see family, going to a daytime viewing with dad, DH, siblings and some of the DC. Star Wars has always been a family thing for both DH and me, nice to bring it to a new generation!

SouthWestmom · 16/12/2017 08:35

Wasn't the mission because they were being tracked by light speed so if they'd gone to the abandoned base they would have been followed? So they had to destroy the bot that could track them

I am not feeling AT ALL motherly towards Kylo Ren!

RJnomore1 · 16/12/2017 10:26

I've only seen him in one other film which is about a couple who have a baby absxsge becomes psychotic, won't feed the baby, thinks he's trying to kill them. He does that vulnerability thing incredibly well, there are very few male actors who can although Ido think he overacted a few wobbly lip scenes in TLJ!

He's got beautiful eyes and hair. Something reminiscent of keanu reeves there although not as classically handsome. He may be growing on me somewhat.

The sky walker men are a bunch of shiny navel gazing little shits really arent they? Quite like kylo being dynamic and decisive himself, that's the solo side coming out I reckon.

Dozer · 16/12/2017 10:33

Yep, I never liked the Skywalkers, Han Solo all the way for me!

Of the current men Poe is very handsome but Finn is most my type, his wide eyed, blundering earnestness is quite like my DH! I don’t fancy “bad boys” like Kylo.

ButchyRestingFace · 16/12/2017 10:45

I am not feeling AT ALL motherly towards Kylo Ren!

I thought the exposed chest was rather nice myself.

And so did Rey.

scrabble1 · 16/12/2017 10:55

That scene 😍

RJnomore1 · 16/12/2017 11:00

Has anyone read the emo kylo ren twitter about that scene? 😂

But yes it was certainly a highlight.

YuleBeSorryInTheMorning · 16/12/2017 11:09

Re Force stuff - surviving in space is in the lore. Doing it via shit cgi and a bad superman impression is not.

JustHappy3 · 16/12/2017 12:24

I am struggling a bit with my conscience though. Have always been unimpressed by Leia's totally unnecessary skimpy gold metal bikini.
But one sweaty bare chest scene and i'm like "oh yes"!
I waa trying to absolve myself of double standards by thinking -well, because the supreme leader was trying to manipulate them so it would make sense to turn up the intensity of the encounters. And then i just wished the supreme leader had waited til he was in the shower!! Blush

papayasareyum · 16/12/2017 13:01

I’m a little bit in love with Adam Driver, he’s gorgeous!

ButtMuncher · 16/12/2017 14:11

I was really disappointed tbh. The scenes with Rey and Ren were fantastic - superb, and weirdly I now have a crush on Adam Driver too. He has a very commanding presence.

The humour was dreadful, so gimmicky and Marvel-esq. SW has always had humour, largely directed among and toward the characters (nerf herder, basically anything Han said in the originals) but this humour wasn't funny. The bit when Rey and Ren are communicating and she asks him to put on a shirt was so so awful.

General Hux was absolutely awful - he was reduced to looking like a total imbecile - Tarkin would be rolling in his grave. The bit at the start with Poe trying to speak to him felt so cheap.

Finn/Rose story arc was, to me, frightfully pointless and I hated feeling that way because I really wanted it not to be.

I can tell Hamill disagreed with Luke's direction because I did too. Having Luke consider killing Ren for his dark side was so utterly unLuke like - that section would have worked better had he considered his powers and consulted Kenobi, that would have been far more believable.

I HATED the bit with Leia in space. It was so bad. She's not even force trained.

But Rey and Ren, that was brilliant. I didn't even care that they didn't expand on Snoke after all the fanfare. That bit was brilliant.

ButtMuncher · 16/12/2017 14:12

I also realise like I sound like a bitter keyboard warrior aged about 17 Grin

ButchyRestingFace · 16/12/2017 14:13

I’m a little bit in love with Adam Driver, he’s gorg

The magnificence of his hair is being discussed at length elsewhere.

ButchyRestingFace · 16/12/2017 14:17

I HATED the bit with Leia in space. It was so bad. She's not even force trained.

But she is force sensitive. And she was in extremis.

AND it was the only way to get her back alive to the ship.

”The Force is strong in my family
my father had it
I have it
my sister has it”

ButchyRestingFace · 16/12/2017 14:21

I say ”Enchanted to meet you.

When steaming, I might throw in a little curtsey.

ButchyRestingFace · 16/12/2017 14:21

Whoops wrong thread!!!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

HidingBehindTheWallpaper · 16/12/2017 14:47

Have I watched a different film?

It was so dull, nothing happened.
The plot was as thin as cheap ham and had plot holes you could fly the falcon through.
A complete waste of time and money.
