If you've seen it, come here!

I m a bit sad about there being no more related characters. Dd thinks the kid at the end is a relative of Obi but I can't see how.

Loved the ending with Luke but I was surprised all the old guard have now gone.

Hated the hamster like creatures. It feels like R2D2 was 'cute' so they try to include 'cute' in the films.

Was obvious Kylo Ren and the killing of his enemy.

Am I the latest to the party?

Over long and over loud but held my attention, and you can't beat the shivers when the theme blares out at the start - and at Luke's last scene. Worth the ticket price, I thought.

I like the lightsabre chainsaws, although as always baddies queue up to fight rather than all attacking at once. Finn less annoying than last time, had forgotten all about po and still not sure what he is for other than to be a twerp. Flying Leia a bit silly, and ever reducing number of rebels even more so.

Surprised they didn't re edit given the sad casting problem for the next one, but we shall see. Back in two years!

iklboo · 02/01/2018 20:12

I was thinking FFS Holdo, why didn't you lead with the warp jump instead of watching most of the Rebel Alliance get wiped out first?

JeremiahBackflip · 02/01/2018 20:39

Only just watched it today.

Bloody loved it.

All of it.

Except Phasma. I just wanted the helmet to be removed - why couldn't we see her face?

Loved everything else though.

HanSolo · 02/01/2018 20:57

I have to wonder why, if they can jump to hyperspace through a ship in that devastating way, it hasn't been done before? Confused

NurseButtercup · 02/01/2018 22:24

Glad to see I'm not the last to join this conversation. Saw it NYE and loved it. But I don't do the analysis that super fans do and pick apart the story.

The only storyline that made me Hmm is the Rose and Fin "I love you" declaration. It was very awkward and dare I say an unnecessary plot addition? Oh well....I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm planning to watch Star Wars The Force Awakening this weekend on Netflix Grin

NotDavidTennant · 02/01/2018 22:43

Finally watched it today and was disappointed. Just a disjointed mess of a story. The clearly didn't have enough faith in the main Rey/Ren storyline so had to throw in numerous rebel "last stands" in order to create extra action, not to mention the Casino sub-plot that amounted to nothing.

Lweji · 02/01/2018 22:53

I have to wonder why, if they can jump to hyperspace through a ship in that devastating way, it hasn't been done before?

For one because it kills you, I suppose. But it should be really hard to do. You'd have to hit it before entering hyperspace.
But, they are supposed to just jump to hyperspace and not accelerate as such.
So, I've chosen to ignore that bit, as I did the concept of tracking through hyperspace. Having said that, light speed is not possible, nor does the Force exist or force fields, so I don't care.

IVFNewbie · 03/01/2018 12:09

I found it good in parts but generally quite awful. I am an old fan, and it was written by someone who clearly has never 'got' Star Wars.

Lweji · 03/01/2018 12:11

I'm curious. What is it that makes Star Wars that they didn't get?

SkeletonSkins · 03/01/2018 13:00

I quite liked it, it had some good messages and agree that it plays it's role as 2nd film in a trilogy. It was too long though.

The one thing that bothered me, is that if you're on a ship that is about the run out of fuel/be destroyed, why does someone need to stay on to drive it?

NotDavidTennant · 03/01/2018 13:09

The more I think about it, the more I think the script was an example of the kind of bad writing where things happen to fit the writer's objectives, not because they are motivated by the plot or the characters.

Example: Smoke is a super powerful baddie, until he serves his purpose and is killed off really easily, there's a token fight scene and then everyone carries on as if his death was of no consequence (because to the writer he was just a plot device and of no consequence).

ElenaGreco123 · 03/01/2018 15:23

We loved it with DS. DH fell asleep. We only took him in case we needed the toilet.

Hopy Kylo Ren and Rey end up together. Their scenes were quite intimate even with their tops on.

I love the films, but haven't read the comics, etc. so Leia being trained in the Force did not bother me. We haven't seen a good 30 years of her life. She could have had her own Jedi order for all we know.

I did not remember any romantic tension between Poe and Finn or Rey's visions. Will have to rewatch.

Thanks for all the wonderful explanations and theories. Flowers

DH and I love Oscar Isaac since seeing him in Show Me a Hero. Our favourite is Inside Llewyn Davis. If you ever wanted to see Oscar Isaacs, Justine Timberlake and Adam Driver singing and playing the guitar together:

heateallthebuns · 03/01/2018 15:32

I liked it after I'd first seen it before Christmas. Now I think it was like the prequels - too many creatures and jokes.

iklboo · 03/01/2018 17:09

It could all be stopped by someone giving Kylo Ren a jolly good smacked bottom, some time out on the naughty step and removal of light sabre privileges Grin

And if Domhnall Gleason doesn't stop chewing the scenery there'll be none left for the next film. Wink

HanSolo · 03/01/2018 21:40

It could all be stopped by someone giving Kylo Ren a jolly

That's all that showed in my threads I'm on... thank goodness you finished with "good smacked bottom"!!Grin

Honeybooboo123 · 03/01/2018 22:47

Domhnall Gleeson can chew my scenery any time he wants... ;)

I think General Hux is going to be bigger and badder in the next one, and a real threat to Kylo Ren

badbadhusky · 03/01/2018 23:01

And if Domhnall Gleason doesn't stop chewing the scenery there'll be none left for the next film.

Domhnall sure is purty. I look at his pa Brendan and it right befuddles me that he could produce such eye-pleasing offspring.

HanSolo · 04/01/2018 01:41

I'm guessing his mother is utterly gorgeous?

OrinocoDugong · 04/01/2018 02:24

I think it's only additional weight and unfitness that makes pa look like less of a catch. If you look at images from his earlier films you can detect a decent bone structure that produces a pleasing aspect when combined with a lean and toned musculature.

Lweji · 04/01/2018 03:33

Domhnall sure is purty

No way.

nooka · 04/01/2018 03:54

My dd fancies Domhnall Gleason. She really likes Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac too plus she really likes Gwendolyn Christie and is a fan of Carrie Fisher. So sad that a film with all of them in it was so shit. We spent most of Christmas complaining about it. Good family bonding I guess! Right now we've all said we don't want to see 9.

nooka · 04/01/2018 03:55

Domhnall fans should watch Ex Machina. He's very sweet and vulnerable in it, although Oscar Isaac is a (very good) fat drunk bald letch!

iklboo · 04/01/2018 07:48

Ooh yes Ex Machina is really good. And Domnhall was in a Black Mirror episode - Be Right Back. Also very good.

badbadhusky · 04/01/2018 09:07

Nooka - you’re not wrong about the criminal waste of such a good cast.

sakura06 · 04/01/2018 20:41

I'm very late to the party here, but thought the film was fun, albeit totally lacking in storyline or plot!

I absolutely loved the chemistry between Kylo Ren and Rey. I'd have been happy if it was just about them!

I was a bit baffled by the Finn/Rose love storyline as I'd thought after The Force Awakens that Finn and Rey would have a love story going on (plus it seemed racked on here).

I agree with a PP that the scene where Finn and Rose are about to be executed which cuts to the Stormtroopers being near them. I also completely agree with @PricklyBall that it was really strange that Leia slapped Poe. Very unprofessional!
