Well, that's two hours of my life I'll never get back- disappointing films you've seen?

Last night I snuggled down in clean PJs with popcorn and wine to watch the much-hyped "Girl on a Train". I noticed it was on Amazon Prime yesterday morning as was looking forward all day to watching it.

Well, what a completely bloody waste of time that was.

It was absolute horse shit and I genuinely went to bed feeling a bit deflated.

What disappointing films have you seen that you wish you hadn't bothered with?

We watched The Autopsy of Jane Doe last night. It is an utterly awful film, terrible script, doesn't make sense, and a huge waste of my Sunday evening Angry

It was well reviewed and starred Brian Cox so I was expecting so much more!

I also hated Birdman which was also critically acclaimed. Pretentious boring guff.

I concur with treacle about The Lobster and also The Fundamentals of Caring (with the ever lovely Paul Rudd)

Wheelycote · 07/08/2017 13:33

Jupiter ascending - what was that about!

IHaveBrilloHair · 07/08/2017 13:33

Black Swan, boring tosh
Room, but I hated the book too

Wheelycote · 07/08/2017 13:33

Inferno with Tom Hanks

mylittlephoney · 07/08/2017 13:35

Fantastic beasts tried to watch it twice. Twice I fell asleep.
Lala land. I wanted my money back.
Deadpool I so don't do comic book films

Nannplum666 · 07/08/2017 13:37

One day with Anne Hathaway - loved the book and normally love her acting but her accent was terrible, everyone's acting awful and I ended up turning it off!

MrsMozart · 07/08/2017 13:38

Started to watch GoaT. Got very bored very quickly and gave up.

These days if a film isn't gripping or at least bearable by about ten mins in then I stop watching.

ginghambox · 07/08/2017 13:40

Prometheus
Pacific Rim
Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom
The Gunman
Bastille Day
Star Trek Beyond
There may be a link between these.

Girl on a Train was terrible. I couldn’t finish the book as it was so boring so I’m not sure why I thought the film would be any better.

HOW did that book become a smash hit?!?

kernowgal · 07/08/2017 13:44

Astonished that nobody has mentioned Bridget Jones' Baby or Ab Fab The Movie.

Just utter, utter mindless dross. Ab Fab not even funny and I love French & Saunders.

I did like Bridesmaids tho, will always watch it if it's on.

Heathcliff27 · 07/08/2017 13:44

Ok, i'm going to tell you and then run away and hide. I've been slated many many times before for not getting this film but i do not apologise. Disclaimer- I absolutely love the actor and love love everything else he ever did but this.... just no!!!!

Dead poets society

squoosh · 07/08/2017 13:45

Bridesmaids was about an hour too long and would have felt much sharper if they’d pruned all the many unnecessary scenes. But I think it comes in for extra criticism because it’s an all female cast. It’s as though people think ‘that’s meant to appeal to me, well ha! It doesn’t’.

squoosh · 07/08/2017 13:46

I'm indifferent to Dead Poets' Society. But I did think, just wait a few months and your dad will no longer have any control of your life!

Undecidedexpat · 07/08/2017 13:46

TheEmojiMovie - see, I have a few unexpected hours alone today. I'm on the net and kind-of watching tv. I did consider having it on in the background but thought I'd savour it tonight. I'm disappointed now...

BaDumShh · 07/08/2017 13:47

The book of Girl on the Train was awful too. Completely predictable, I guessed the ending about a third of the way in. I enjoy a good thriller novel and I've read several that were much, much better. Don't understand how that book got so much hype.

Black Swan - hated that film. Awful, awful drivel.

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 07/08/2017 13:47

Avatar was painfully, neverendingly (literally, it seemed) shite. I can't believe James Cameron still thinks the public give enough of a fuck about it for him to start churning out sequels.

American Mary was fucking dire. I know the body modification 'artist' who 'advised' the production team, and honestly I wanted to punch him in the mouth.

Syriana was tedious beyond and I walked out when George Clooney started getting his fingernails torn out.

Annabelle and Sinister were both shit.

Any of the Fast & Furious franchise is 100% guaranteed to send me into a coma.

Black Swan was painful. In fact all of Darren Aronofsky's films are pants.

Sorry Daz!

QuietNinjaTardis · 07/08/2017 13:51

My husband made me watch open water last night. He said it was meant to be really good. It wasn't 🦈

Kpo58 · 07/08/2017 13:51

Cloverfield was unbelievably crap.

ShatnersBassoon · 07/08/2017 13:53

Baby Driver. So disappointing. Thin plot, cringeworthy dialogue, flat humour. The soundtrack was the star of the film, which isn't what I go to the cinema for.

Gingernaut · 07/08/2017 13:55

There's a poorly reviewed TV film called "Revenge of the Bridesmaids" which, to my eye, knocked "Bridesmaids" out of the park.

Mrsmartell08 · 07/08/2017 13:55

Some of the worst...nearly walked out of the cinema films...
Angela's ashes
As good as it gets
The lake house
The bridges of madison county

demirose87 · 07/08/2017 13:56

Fantastic Beasts I found really boring and just couldn't get into. Agree Girl On The Train was boring also. Took the kids to see the Moomins film a few years ago and fell asleep
