Well, that's two hours of my life I'll never get back- disappointing films you've seen?

Last night I snuggled down in clean PJs with popcorn and wine to watch the much-hyped "Girl on a Train". I noticed it was on Amazon Prime yesterday morning as was looking forward all day to watching it.

Well, what a completely bloody waste of time that was.

It was absolute horse shit and I genuinely went to bed feeling a bit deflated.

What disappointing films have you seen that you wish you hadn't bothered with?

Mamma Mia
Les mis
Becoming jane
I could go on....
So many films That on paper I should love but are, in fact, shit

InigoTaran · 07/08/2017 13:09

Gravity was tedious as fuck, my friend nearly fell asleep watching it. Went to bloody cinema to see it, so it was a waste of money too!

LittleMachine · 07/08/2017 13:10

I watched Human Centipede last night. Me and DH were howling, it's so ridiculous. It was entertaining though.
I turned The BFG off a couple of weeks ago. I'd been really looking forward to it and I was so disappointed.

happypoobum · 07/08/2017 13:11

Drive - I nearly died of the boredom.

Dirty Dancing - utter drivel

ComtesseDeSpair · 07/08/2017 13:12

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover. Watched it recently because people were astounded I hadn't seen this classic masterpiece. Dull, nothing happens, nothing is explained. And I'm generally a big fan if arthouse. I just spent two hours wanting to switch it off. What's its secret?

InigoTaran · 07/08/2017 13:13

The thing about Bridesmaids tho, is, it was a film STARRING MAINLY WOMEN THAT MADE A LOT OF MONEY! Meaning, Hollywood was more willing to invest in films like that. Also had some great comedy actresses in who have done lots of great things since. So not so bad Smile

PoppyPopcorn · 07/08/2017 13:13

Ghost in the Shell. Went with my 14 year old who loved it but I was counting the minutes until it finished, it was so bad.

Also saw La La Land recently and although it was OK, I was left wondering what all the fuss was about.

SarahSellsSeashells · 07/08/2017 13:13

The Signal was horrifically dire, can't even remember why, I can just remember mourning the time I'd never get back. The Lobster was also shit.
I've tried to watch Bridesmaids twice and fell asleep 5 minutes in, so there's a use to it I suppose.

gandalfspants · 07/08/2017 13:14

Another Earth - we went into it expecting crossover to happen, waited the whole film - it's a family in joke now.

Glowerglass · 07/08/2017 13:15

Babydriver was terrible.
The Saint was the worst I have ever seen . I did leave that one.

KatsutheClockworkOctopus · 07/08/2017 13:17

YY to the Charlie Brown movie. Very dull.

An oldie from the 90s called Shining Through. Michael Douglas, Melanie Griffith, Nazis, Mad plot twists. So awful.

Katedotness1963 · 07/08/2017 13:18

Titanic, utterly boring
Mama Mia, I think I watched 10/25 minutes then gave up
The English Patient, though happily I seemed to have blocked out just how bad it was. I just know I'll never watch it again.
Muriel's Wedding, supposed to be a comedy? Left me feeling depressed. I rewatched it years later but still found it severely lacking in the humour department.

FatGirlWithChocolate · 07/08/2017 13:18

Sully. I fell asleep in the cinema. Probably snored too.

Undecidedexpat · 07/08/2017 13:19

Oh no! I was going to watch The Girl On The Train tonight (didn't read the book after I heard the ending was disappointed and didn't want to loose days to it!)

What to do...

amousehaseatenmypaddlingpool · 07/08/2017 13:20

Captain underpants. Christ.

DS loved it but he'd have been happy with the adverts 🙄

AlletrixLeStrange · 07/08/2017 13:21

Deadpool. I LOVE Ryan Reynolds (cause he's funny and super handsome) but what on earth even was that movie?! Confused

happypoobum · 07/08/2017 13:21

Oh God! The English Patient - I had also blocked that out.

Aside from Juliet Binoche and her lover, everyone else was an utterly selfish wanker and I didn't give a shite whether any of them lived/died/or got to shag another day. Really unlikeable main characters.

Hendersonsisnotrelish · 07/08/2017 13:21

Young Adam
Nothing happened it was soooo dull that whenever me or DH watch a crap film we ask was that as bad as Young Adam? The answer is always no.

alltouchedout · 07/08/2017 13:22

I expect to not like films because on the whole I don't like films- there are maybe a dozen I actually would watch more than once. But films I have hated include Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and 300. Had genuine "what the fucking fuck are people on telling me this is a great film?'' moments with those.

MiladyThesaurus · 07/08/2017 13:24

I hated bridesmaids too. DH and I watched a bit but it was no excruciating that we had to stop about 30 mins in.

Eat, Pray, Love is dreadful. I feel really sorry for the PP who saved it as a treat for the end of a flight.

I tried to watch one of those awful recent po-faced superman films with the PILs. It was dire. We were all bring polite in case anyone was enjoying it, but eventually we all had to admit that we'd all rather do anything but watch any more. And it was so long too.

Suicide Squad is awful too. The reviews tearing it to shreds are far more enjoyable than the film. It's a good illustration of why getting trailer production companies to cut the entire film is a terrible idea.

The only film I've desperately wanted to get up and leave a cinema during (but couldn't because DH wanted to see it) was Watchmen (for context, I have sat through the cat in the hat in a cinema with DS1 and managed to enjoy that more). It was unbelievably awful in pretty much every possible way. And also long. Usually the crap films I give up on are things we watch on Netflix or now tv, but I really resented having paid specifically to see Watchmen.

Jupiter Ascending, on the other hand, is a spectacularly crap film precisely because it is utter Mary Sue bollocks. It's so bad it's almost enjoyable.

TheBusThatCouldntSlowDown · 07/08/2017 13:25

Muriel's Wedding is supposed to be a comedy?! Really? It was really upsetting.

I'd like to add The Hurt Locker to this list. Nothing happens, there's no story; I thought it was a very boring documentary until somebody told me otherwise.

MiladyThesaurus · 07/08/2017 13:25

Alletrix DH and DS2 (17) went to see Deadpool. DS2 utterly loathed it. He still brings up how much he hated it every so often.

TeamCersei · 07/08/2017 13:28

I loved Muriel's Wedding.
You're terrible! Bus!

TheEmojiMovieLooksShite · 07/08/2017 13:28

Undecided Watch it but reflexively Wink Then come back and tell us what you thought of it.
