Well, that's two hours of my life I'll never get back- disappointing films you've seen?

Last night I snuggled down in clean PJs with popcorn and wine to watch the much-hyped "Girl on a Train". I noticed it was on Amazon Prime yesterday morning as was looking forward all day to watching it.

Well, what a completely bloody waste of time that was.

It was absolute horse shit and I genuinely went to bed feeling a bit deflated.

What disappointing films have you seen that you wish you hadn't bothered with?

The Tourist.
Stayed up late to watch it and realised I'll never get that time in my life back.

MrsSthe3rd · 07/08/2017 12:48

Sliding doors and Dad's Army.

The thought of both makes my heart rate rise!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 07/08/2017 12:48

R.I.P.D is a Ryan Reynolds film (called R.I.P.D it doesn't stand for anything)

PricklyBall · 07/08/2017 12:49

Batman and Robin
Haman (the Turkish Bath)
Titanic

90% of the kids films I have had to watch with DS.

slightlyglittermaned · 07/08/2017 12:50

The Charlie Brown movie - aimed at children, but totally incomprehensible and boring to them. DS watched the short bit with Snoopy and the Red Baron with interest, then got up and marched out of the cinema and refused to return. Playing in the lobby was clearly 10 million times more interesting.

The Lego Movie Another "kids" film that's really for adults. DS ignored it (on DVD), which is a good thing as the primary message seems to be that you can be brilliant, talented, hard working and dedicate your life to reaching the pinnacle of your vocation as a Master Builder, and a mediocre average American bloke will just stroll into the top job. You can be girlfriend as consolation prize.
I thought the message of "don't bother working hard to be good at anything" was surprising for a film lauded by geeks. They look thoughtful when I point it out though.

Bridges of Madison County

I read this book years and years ago and it was hands down one of the worst books I've ever read, utterly pointless. I couldn't believe it was made in to a film. I did plan to watch it at some point to see if I missed something, but maybe not.

Gingernaut · 07/08/2017 12:52

R.I.P.D. is a shite film the did tragically at the box office and deserved to.

A cross between M.I.B and Beetlejuice with a dash of the TV series Reaper thrown in.

wiki plot scenario (and spoilers) here

AWendyAteMyFitbit · 07/08/2017 12:53

Am with you op. Nearly fell asleep in the cinema with that one, but loved the book.

The new Trainspotting one too - none of the edginess of the original and too much middle-aged navel gazing, I hear enough of that in RL.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/08/2017 12:54

Mulholland Drive
Crash

I'm no fan of David Lynch films, it would appear!

LadyR77 · 07/08/2017 12:55

The Revenant - absolutely hated it. Really don't understand all the hype about it, and reckon Leo has had other roles that were far more Oscar-worthy than that!

starkid · 07/08/2017 12:56

I hated Eat Pray Love with a passion, went delirious with boredom.
Miss Congeniality 2 was dire.
Batman The Dark Knight- I fell asleep, just wasn't gripping. Prefer the X-men films.
The Producers- was awful.
Nine- I enjoyed a couple of scenes, but it wasn't what I expected and just disappointing.

Crinkle77 · 07/08/2017 12:57

Mamma Mia was just awful.

astoundedgoat · 07/08/2017 12:57

I turned off La La Land after 40 mins. Am stunned that it wasn't a complete flop.

GOTT wasn't so bad.

JuniUmiZoomi · 07/08/2017 12:58

King Kong, the one with Jack Black. It was so long and not interesting at all. We kept watching thinking it would get going but it didn't. Even the fighting two T Rexes wasn't exciting/interesting.

StuckInARut41 · 07/08/2017 12:59

I thought R.I.P.D meant 'rest in peace department' ? Because they're angel police type people? I think I laughed my head off at that film.

RaininSummer · 07/08/2017 12:59

I like Girl on a train and Human centipede but wanted to poke my eyes out in Million Dollar baby so tedious.

AWendyAteMyFitbit · 07/08/2017 13:01

Yes Crinkle! MM could be used as a torture device, just play it on the loop.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 07/08/2017 13:01

I watched RIPD last night on DP's recommendation and we both really enjoyed it Grin

Spiderman Homecoming. I fell asleep! I'm a big Marvel fan but it was so boring

HouseworkIsASin10 Manchester by the Sea - Double Shite

I have to thank The West Wing for teaching me that there is a fancy town in New Hampshire called Manchester; because otherwise I'd be wondering what sort of dreary Coronation Street-alike tosh this was going to be.

GingerKitCat · 07/08/2017 13:02

La La Land

Big fan of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone since their early careers. Love romance and musical genres.

Hideous! Shock

TheEmojiMovieLooksShite · 07/08/2017 13:02

AWendy I actually watched Trainspotting 2 last weekend.

I quite enjoyed it but not as part of the Trainspotting franchise (or whatever the right name is). I mean it was quite a good film when viewed objectively but when you compared it to, or at least saw it as a follow-on from, the original it was shite. And there was far far far too much music in it- I had a massive headache by the end.

Robert Carlisle looked hot as fuck though

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 07/08/2017 13:04

I couldn't get through 20 minutes of Mamma Mia. Dire

Big sci-fi fan but I hate Blade Runner and 2001: Space Odyssey. Boring as fuck

badabing36 · 07/08/2017 13:05

I once saw that Adam Sandler film the Waterboy, it is not possible for any film to be worse than that.

AWendyAteMyFitbit · 07/08/2017 13:05

You have more tolerance than me then TheEmoji. I left halfway through searching for wine. Have to agree about the Carlisle though Wink.

TeamCersei · 07/08/2017 13:07

Bridesmaids

Bridesmaid was the biggest load of rubbish.
Not even remotely funny.

I'd like to see a British remake of it.
