What is the worst film you have ever seen?

I was looking at the Super Mario game on the DS for my brother when someone mentioned the film.
I remember seeing it, Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo. God it was dire!!
What the worst film you've seen? Any reason whatsoever, however irrational it may seem.

any of those deuce bigalo/american pie/40 yr old virgin/white chicks kind of films

I just dont get it

SecondhandRose · 04/03/2007 08:48

Another vote for The Royal Tenenbaums and another one for Lost in Translation.

LIT was nominated for various awards and I invited the girls round to watch it, what a pile of crap. We ended up leaving it on but chatting to see if anything actually happened.

Probably the early Star Wars, dh banged on about it for years and I finally watched them, and gave up after the first one i could take nay more, probably because they are so dated now.

I can cope with the new ones though

mrcandmre · 04/03/2007 09:01

I have to agree with the star wars thing, but worse I feel are-

MR BEAN THE MOVIE
VANILLA SKY
DUMB AND DUMBER
CABLE GUY
ACE VENTURA PET DETECTIVE

LOL Jim Carey isn't very popular on here, but I do like him...just not in any of the above

Marina · 04/03/2007 09:06

I can't believe no-one has mentioned Thomas and the Magic Railroad yet bad script, bad acting, bad "sfx"
I tend to be a real review slave so I've just refused point blank to see some of the definitely shite films mentioned on here: Showgirls, 9 and half weeks, Vanilla Sky etc
I can contribute two dire continental turkeys though: Rouge Venise (a bunch of Eurotrash producers attempt to do an Amadeus on Vivaldi ), and Bertrand Blier's vile Tenue de Soiree [bleurgh].
Bionicle Ray of Light is also well worth missing if possible...

NappiesGalore · 04/03/2007 09:11

that one where they all dance on the bar... whats that called? coyote ugly! is truly the shitest film ever. and people actually recommended it to me ... lost all respect for said people. im not usually the judgemental sort fo person to allow that to happen...but the film was sooooo bad, i couldnt help it!

ghosty · 04/03/2007 09:13

I can't remember the name of the film that I think has to be the worst film ever made: It is about a meteor that is on its way to earth ... with Morgan Freeman as the President of America ... It is called something like "Impact" or "Maximum Impact" ...

Truly awful film

Eyes wide shut. Without a doubt the worse film ever. We sat in the cinema assuming it had to get better. It didn't.

Ditto Circus and Open Water.

Moulin Rouge we had out on DVD and turned off after 10 minutes.

And I agree with the "anything with Adam Sandler in it" comment from earlier.

aDad · 04/03/2007 09:26

already mentioned earlier - AI: artificial intelligence. Long plotless, sentimental, cheesy, spielberg bolleaux.

Caligula · 04/03/2007 09:26

Oh I only managed about 10 minutes of moulin rouge as well. Uttlery unwatchable

NappiesGalore · 04/03/2007 09:28

i loved moulin rouge! i had no idea what to expect when i saw it tho...i do think sans expectations of any kind is really the only way to appreciate a film. not that thats possible in most cases (you go to see it coz youve heard its good, right?)

naughtynoonoo · 04/03/2007 09:29

Its got to be a toss up between the Truman show and Borat. Maybe Borat is a mans thing but WTF?

Bugsy2 · 04/03/2007 10:10

Love Actually - was horrific. Cringed for the duration of the film. Barftastic senimental scmaltz.

trillium · 04/03/2007 10:16

Cape Fear.

Walked out of cinema.

Crap.

(Don't like Robert de Niro)

Catbabymummy · 04/03/2007 10:17

Battlefield Earth, that was 2 hours of my life I will never get back... and most of my scientolgy friends agree

Bugsy2 · 04/03/2007 10:17

Robots, Hoodwinked & Over the Hedge were barely endurable. Feel asleep during Hoodwinked so that must have been dire.

LazyLine · 04/03/2007 12:08

Ghosty, it's Deep Impact!

RedLorryYellowLorry · 04/03/2007 12:16

Right now its The Number 23. Never liked Jim Carrey so don't know why I agreed to go! Complete shite. Didn't help matters that dh filled car up with unleaded instead of deisal (sp??) and we broke down on the way Arse!!!

RedLorryYellowLorry · 04/03/2007 12:17

That's nothing like diesel My brain's gone blank -ddddddeesul???

franca70 · 04/03/2007 12:19

I actually didn't minbd deep impact . Always had a soft spot for disaster movies (has anyone seen avalanche with mia farrow and rock hudson?)

gorgonzolasouffle · 04/03/2007 12:20

Bonfire of the Vanities
Hudson Hawk
Magnolia
Bee Season
War of the Worlds
Vanilla Sky

Soo many

grouchyoscar · 04/03/2007 12:45

Was not impressed by Gangs of New York or The Departed. Just couldn't get the hype over substance issue there. Thank god Marty got the oscar this time and he might stop wasting 3 hr chunks of my life now

Felt the same way about Mistic River too.

Also had the same with 'Million Dollar Baby' but in hindsight it is a slow burner and it did leave an impression on me some time later.
