Just love a musical. DD2 and I just back from Rhyl where we watched Joseph.

I have tickets booked for Cats, Rocky Horror, Joseph (again, somewhere else) and Chicago - which I've never seen yet.

My absolute favourite is Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

Wadingthroughsoup · 08/04/2016 23:32

Les Miserables is my favourite. I think I've seen it 3 times. Second favourite is probably the Lion King- I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I thought it was stunning! I cried quite a lot in the first 5 minutes, let alone the actual sad bits 😂

Saw Wicked recently, which was brilliant but I didn't find the music as memorable as most other shows I've seen.

SerenityReynolds · 08/04/2016 23:33

I used to love Starlight Express - loved the whole cast on rollerskates Smile. Joseph I saw several times (Jason Donovan!) and we listened to the soundtrack loads in the car as kids. Phantom was amazing and I really liked Chicago too. Found Les Mis a bit meh I'm embarrassed to say Blush

MrsJayy · 08/04/2016 23:33

My favourite thing in the world to talk about love a musical i have a soft spot for Joseph also saw it with pip schofield he was brilliant and then again with some guy off a reality show cant remember his name in 2009. Lion king was amazing and wicked was great saw that 2 years ago. The ones i havnt seen live but have Dvds that I like are chicago, hairspray if i am feeling a bit over dramatic i stick Dreamgirls on and warble my way through it badly. My ambition is to see Les mis though I adore the whole miserable 3 hours of it

flutterworc · 08/04/2016 23:34

Wicked. Love it. Great to sing along to in the car too!

JeanSeberg · 08/04/2016 23:34

Gay, the musical.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 08/04/2016 23:34

The only "proper" live, in a theatre, musical I've ever seen was Singing in the Rain when I was at school so over 30 years ago now but DD and I are off to Manchester tomorrow to see American Idiot Grin
I love musicals on film but I think seeing one live will be so much better , I can hardly wait Grin

vvviola · 08/04/2016 23:36

Les Mis definitely (saw it years ago with Colm Wilkinson as Valjean. That voice. )
Chicago, West Side Story, phantom. Jesus Christ Superstar.

Wicked was a bit disappointing though. Great stagecraft, wonderful singers and dancers and a clever (too clever?) storyline, but the songs just didn't do it for me.

I'm trying to get my DC into musicals. They are 8 and 4 and I reckon are ripe for brainwashing (so in a few years DH won't have to be dragged along to the shows anymore, DDs can come instead), but I'm not quite sure where to go next (started with Sound of Music, which was a massive success)

Dowser · 08/04/2016 23:37

Also seen the doyley carte perform The Mikado and pirates of Penzance....both fabulous.

MrsJayy · 08/04/2016 23:37

West side story gang warfare to jazz hands Grin. I like we will Rock you but the story is rubbish but i love queen.

Dowser · 08/04/2016 23:38

That's how I felt about wicked.

Oh I've also seen Jesus Christ superstar...hated that too.

God spell was a million times better.

MrsMoggy · 08/04/2016 23:39

Loved rocky horror show...Newcastle.

ChaostheCat · 08/04/2016 23:42

Love a musical, favourites are Les Mis, Miss Saigon, Wicked, Chicago. I'll confess that the number of times I've seen The Rocky Horror Show goes into double figures!

Dumbledoresgirl · 08/04/2016 23:43

Definitely my favourite all time is JC Superstar. My first album aged 13 and the soundtrack of my entire teenage years and early 20s.

Joseph also, since performing it in school in 1974.

Favourite film is the sound of music.

I saw Buddy live, that was a great evening out.

Two of my kids are currently obsessed with Les Mis and I enjoy the soundtrack and the film was OK so I am thinking of taking them to see that. But I do feel we have missed our chance to see the best performers in it.

MrsJayy · 08/04/2016 23:44

Rocky Horror unnerves me a wee bit not sure why. Dds school did musicals loved going to see them.

MrsJayy · 08/04/2016 23:45

Also love a good musical (and even a few bad ones). Saw Gypsy last year and thought it was amazing. Also loved Merrily we Roll Along and Sweeny Todd. Ooh and saw Into the Woods in the outdoor theatre in Regents Park which was very atmospheric.

MaryFlynn · 08/04/2016 23:49
