Just love a musical. DD2 and I just back from Rhyl where we watched Joseph.

I have tickets booked for Cats, Rocky Horror, Joseph (again, somewhere else) and Chicago - which I've never seen yet.

River dance and lord of the dance. Not technically musicals but absolutely amazing.

Took my mum too before the Alzheimer's got her.

Oliver! (Dd loves this as well)
Sound of Music
West Side Story
Oklahoma

I saw Buddy once because my Dad wanted to. I didn't know what to expect but it was absolutely brilliant.

Carousel when they sing "You'll never walk alone", especially the second time. Oh the tears.

Does Frozen count? It's got some cracking songs Grin

Les Mis and Rent are my favourites but have seen a fair few.

Really want to see Jersey Boys

Anything by Sondheim, with my favourites of those I've seen A Little Night Music and Sunday in the Park with George. In terms of more mainstream stage musicals, I have a guilty liking for the 1980s lunacy of Phantom, and also like the Lerner and Loewe/Rogers and Hammerstein classics.

Billy Elliot, which I only saw because I was escorting relatives, was unexpectedly good, but Wicked is gidawful, and has only two decent songs. I don't get the love at all.

Miss Saigon is my absolute favourite. I think I've seen it twelve times now.

I also love Jesus Christ Superstar.

My username may give away another favourite musical of mine!

MadamDeathstare ooh, yes, Oliver and My Fair Lady would be a good start.

MaryFlynn unfortunately taking them to the theatre here is just not in the budget. Mary Poppins was here over Christmas and it would have cost €300 just for the tickets for the 4 of us. I resent paying €70 for a show for a 4 year old who may not manage the whole show.

My plan is to indoctrinate them first and then pay the money for the shows when I know they'll appreciate it Grin (or when we can go to London and have a good choice)

I don't know how I forgot Guys ana Dolls. I love it. We did it at school. I was just a random chorus member drawback of being an alto, they always want you in the chorus

Hope you don't mind me posting, it looks a good place to ask! My DD, 4, loves singing and dancing so I thought she might like a musical, but I've no idea where to start or what is suitable for young children. I just got confused on Amazon. Can anyone recommend one? Would have to be a dvd version as we can't travel to shows.
