Damian Lewis is the favourite to play the next James Bond. What do you think?

I know most secret agents probably look like John Major but I do think the fictional ones at least should be suave and sophisticated. Damian Lewis looks as though he should be working for the council, in charge of assigning allotments or something equally as dangerous.

I just can’t imagine him arse kicking and seducing his way across the world in pursuit of the baddies. He looks as though he'd stop mid scrap to tell the villains that his bad hip was at him and could they please reschedule.

Friendly, but I thought Bond was from not quite the right kind of background; a bit of an arriviste who was given some of the advantages of the upper classes and can talk the talk but isn't posh through and through.

Which is why I thought Sean Connery was so good; he knew how to behave and look in 'Society' but wasn't quite naturally part of it.

Damian Lewis just seems too innately posh, by comparison.

M is a title, not a set person so can be male, female, black, white ....
My faves are Idris Elba and Michael Fassbender. I like some of the other ones like Mark Strong, Paul Bettany and Jason Isaacs but not my best.
Colin Salmon couldn't do it as he had quite a major part in several of the films (the Rory Kinnear type character). I always liked Jack Davenport but maybe a bit too smooth?
That Simon bloke is weird looking and I can't forget him as the bum boy in LA Confidential and anyone in a series called "The Mentalist" can't be taken seriously.
What about Nicholas Hoult or Jamie Bell? Too young for me but possibilities?
