The lovely people at Twentieth Century Fox have given us a pile of DVDs to giveaway and we thought it was a nice chance to pull together your favourite and best DVDs for the whole family.

We all have snuggly DVD days evenings and with April showers on the horizon, we thought it would be great to hear about your best loved films to share.

What family friendly films do you watch over and over again?

Is there a great film for children that you don't mind watching with them or even better a film that will keep them transfixed when you need five minutes?

Share your suggestions on the thread and we will pick a name out of a hat on Tuesday 10th March for one lucky winner to get a whole bundle of DVDs.

Good luck.

Funnily my kids really love old sci fi films.

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers
The Day The Earth Stood Still
The Thing

They all so love old comedies

Abott and Costello
Laurel and Hardy

Then they love your typical kids films at the moment they're favourites are

Wreck It Ralph
Night At The Museum
Toy Story 1,2 and 3
Despicable Me 1 and 2
The Tinkerbell Movies (all of them)
The Fox and The Hound
Turbo
Planes 2

I love curling up on the sofa by the fire having sleepy weekends watching movies. I also love watching my kids faces as they watch, they're expressions are priceless. Nothing beats putting a film on, even better a one they've seen a thousand times and know off by heart because the way they react and the way they light up during certain moments. It's just brilliant.

Frozen, Cars/Planes franchise, any of the Toy Story franchise, Madagascar, they are all movies we watch over and over and I don't mind at all!

Butteredparsnips · 04/03/2015 22:05

Oh pass the popcorn.
Up, despicable me, Madagascar, all the shreks and frozen, are our recent favourites.
A special mention too for chitty, chitty, bang, bang and Mary Poppins. DS used to re enact "up on the rooftops" along the back of the sofa's and other furniture.

bobs123 · 04/03/2015 22:11

Harry Potter - the first one had me entranced.
Classic Disney
Despicable Me
100 Days of summer

Theimpossiblegirl · 04/03/2015 22:30

Even as they are getting older the DDs still have favourites from their younger days- Monster's Inc and Monsters University, the High School Musical Trilogy (not me so much), The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Despicable Me.

More recent favourites as they hit their teens are Blended, Twilight (etc.) and Elf, any time of year.

Where to start?! We love;
Despicable me 1 and 2
Roger Rabbit
Star Wars
The Muppets

Normally accompanied by a snuggle blanket and a big bowl of popcorn.

crimsonwitch · 04/03/2015 23:11

Frozen
despicable me 1 and 2
the nightmare before Christmas (ds1 absolute fav)
stardust
all the harry potter's watched repeatedly over and over and over ad infinitum..
they love anything that's a little bit "rude", add a fart joke or two in a film it becomes their new fav so the shrek films are always winners too.

ThatBloodyWoman · 05/03/2015 00:19

I'll go for the ones I don't mind watching too - for this I went digging back through my own childhood/adolescence for the classics and together we've watched and my son has loved things like:
-the labyrinth
-the flight of the navigator
-the neverending story
etc

He also loves the old indiana jones type films that we used to watch as 'family' films when i was a child.

UnicornFart · 05/03/2015 06:07

All the Night at the Museum films.

Very funny, educational & we all love them Smile

ShoeJunkie · 05/03/2015 06:29

DS is just getting to the stage where he can sit for a whole film. He loves Cars and Cars 2. DH also introduced him to the Lego Movie which transfixed him!

ChasedByBees · 05/03/2015 06:32

I have a v sensitive 3 year old but I think Mary Poppins could work well for her. She is obsessed by the Frozen songs and clips she's seen.
