The lovely people at Twentieth Century Fox have given us a pile of DVDs to giveaway and we thought it was a nice chance to pull together your favourite and best DVDs for the whole family.

We all have snuggly DVD days evenings and with April showers on the horizon, we thought it would be great to hear about your best loved films to share.

What family friendly films do you watch over and over again?

Is there a great film for children that you don't mind watching with them or even better a film that will keep them transfixed when you need five minutes?

Share your suggestions on the thread and we will pick a name out of a hat on Tuesday 10th March for one lucky winner to get a whole bundle of DVDs.

Good luck.

Studio Ghibli, especially Ponyo.

Clayhead · 04/03/2015 17:05

Rango is a favourite here and Tangled and The Princess and the Frog both get rewatched by ds and dd.

Elf and Back to the Future also feature!

TheImprobableGirl · 04/03/2015 17:08

Oh god these all sound so 'proper'.... Dd loves barbie (in various guises, being a mermaid, being a popster, generally being a pain in the ass) and the Disney feature films - things like Sofias floating palace, and of course frozen, tangled, mickey mouse twice upon a Christmas in february

NerrSnerr · 04/03/2015 17:22

We love Never Ending Story, Cool Runnings and Finding Nemo here.

lionheart · 04/03/2015 17:22

Cinderella
Triple bill of The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo's Child and Room On The Broom

SillyBlueHat · 04/03/2015 17:37

We're a few years off being able to watch Harry Potter which I'm looking forward to. DD will only watch frozen!

whattodoowiththeleftoverturkey · 04/03/2015 18:01

Charlie and the chocolate factory. The original, obvs.

UnikittyInHerBusinessSuit · 04/03/2015 18:27

Recent favourites include Lego Movie (of course), The Pirates in an Adventure with Scientists, Arthur Christmas and Despicable Me 1 and 2.

Older faves are Labyrinth; Star Wars/Empire Strikes Back/Return of the Jedi, Back To The Future, Mean Girls and the first three Indiana Jones movies.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 04/03/2015 18:32

The Gruffalo (if that counts as a film)

Similarly - Room on the Broom, Gruffalo's Child, & The Snowman.

DS is only 2 so these are the perfect length for him!

Despicable Me, Shrek & Ice Age are big hits in this house too (mainly for me & DH!!)

PatriciaHolm · 04/03/2015 19:12

Galaxy quest, Mr Peabody and Sherman, Bolt!

MakeTeaNotWar · 04/03/2015 19:31

Bambi and Dumbo. True classics that make us laugh and make us cry that we can watch over and over again

FairyPenguin · 04/03/2015 20:02

As well as a lot of those already mentioned, my DC love Mary Poppins. Especially good for my sensitive 5-year-old as there's no scary/sinister music or baddies or jumpy moments.

BiscuitsForBreakfast · 04/03/2015 20:08

We love the Pirates of the Caribbean films and the Harry Potter ones. Have seen them loads and will no doubt watch them many times more.

HiawathaDidntBotherTooMuch · 04/03/2015 20:08

ET. DS lives it. We first watched it when he was 6 and he was absolutely engrossed. It was really special as it's one of my favourite films. I cry every time, without Gail.

We also all love Chicken Run. It's hilarious. It's my favourite of all the aardman films, though The Wrong Trousers does come close.

DS adores the original version of 101 Dalmations. Not the Glenn Close version which would terrify him, but the one from the fifties or whenever it was. It jus very sweet. Roger, Anita, pongo and perdy!

HiawathaDidntBotherTooMuch · 04/03/2015 20:08

Without fail. Not without Gail. Oh dear.

shatteredstudentmum · 04/03/2015 20:26

My two have watched Mr Peabody and Sherman four times since Monday, so I'd say that's a winner here!

The 8 yo also enjoyed the first three harry potter films
