The lovely people at Twentieth Century Fox have given us a pile of DVDs to giveaway and we thought it was a nice chance to pull together your favourite and best DVDs for the whole family.

We all have snuggly DVD days evenings and with April showers on the horizon, we thought it would be great to hear about your best loved films to share.

What family friendly films do you watch over and over again?

Is there a great film for children that you don't mind watching with them or even better a film that will keep them transfixed when you need five minutes?

Share your suggestions on the thread and we will pick a name out of a hat on Tuesday 10th March for one lucky winner to get a whole bundle of DVDs.

Good luck.

Matilda. My girls were transfixed the first time they saw it!

MissDexter · 04/03/2015 11:22

Has to be Frozen, drives me crazy but DD almost goes in to a trance when it's on!

MagersfonteinLugg · 04/03/2015 11:23

Toy Story 3
Makes you laugh, cry and cheer whether you're 5 or 50.

ByronBaby · 04/03/2015 11:29

Bolt - just lovely and funny and cute. Also Ponyo - much loved by my children for years.

Waitingonasunnyday · 04/03/2015 11:31

Megamind is ace. Oww! My giant blue head!

Also Totoro, which I am convinced has some special brain changing trickery. We're all calm after and drift round the house singing 'totoro, totoro' on an endless loop.

Dolallytats · 04/03/2015 11:40

Despicable Me 1 and 2, every time.

Waspie · 04/03/2015 11:52

Mr Peabody and Sherman. It's very funny and my (7 year old) son loves it - particularly Agamemnon. This has triggered lots of readings of the children's Greek Myths book we have. So that can't be a bad thing Smile

AGirlCalledBoB · 04/03/2015 12:02

Tangled. My son really loves it and dances along to the songs. He does like most of the Disney films as do I Blush

Interrobang · 04/03/2015 12:04

All three Toy Storys.

DS also loves the Julia Donaldson Trio that have been made into little films: The Gruffalo, Gruffalo's Child and Room on the Broom.

pillowaddict · 04/03/2015 12:05

Both How to Train Your Dragon films have been loved in our house. We watch the first one on DVD a lot but have not bought the second one yet. Also Despicable Me 1 and 2 makes us all laugh, we are so looking forward to the Minion Movie!

grassroots · 04/03/2015 12:32

Harry Potter - fabulous music at the start really sets the mood.

julker · 04/03/2015 12:55

Shrek films are enjoyed by all ages here Smile I think Pixar & dreamworks films are a safe bet for a wide range of ages

BearAusten · 04/03/2015 12:57

How to Train Your Dragon (Leaving the second one until dc are a little older.)
Aladdin
Ratatouille
Wallace and Gromit:Curse of the Were-Rabbit (Cannot wait until Shawn the Sheep is out on DVD - went down really well when we went to the cinema and saw it.)
Ice Age:The Meltdown
Shrek
(The reason for the volume is that we have had quite a few illness this year.)

skyeskyeskye · 04/03/2015 14:48

DD is now 7 and it has been lovely seeing how her tastes change in the films that she watches. A few years ago, it was Toy Story 1 2 and 3, on a loop, then it was Tangled, then of course Frozen....

she loves anything Disney and cartoons and loves the older films such as Sleeping Beauty, The Aristocats, 101 Dalmations, .

She also loves Babe, Marley & Me, Despicable Me 1 and 2 and anything with Wallace & Gromit in.

Now she is getting older I hope to be able to start getting her into Harry Potter and other things.

ShatnersBassoon · 04/03/2015 14:57

Mousehunt is a firm favourite here. We're all looking forward to seeing Paddington again too.

icclemunchy · 04/03/2015 15:00

Jurassic park Blush DD has just turned 4 but has been obsessed since she was 2!
