The lovely people at Twentieth Century Fox have given us a pile of DVDs to giveaway and we thought it was a nice chance to pull together your favourite and best DVDs for the whole family.

We all have snuggly DVD days evenings and with April showers on the horizon, we thought it would be great to hear about your best loved films to share.

What family friendly films do you watch over and over again?

Is there a great film for children that you don't mind watching with them or even better a film that will keep them transfixed when you need five minutes?

Share your suggestions on the thread and we will pick a name out of a hat on Tuesday 10th March for one lucky winner to get a whole bundle of DVDs.

Good luck.

diamondsrock · 05/03/2015 14:33

We love The Lego Movie, Toy Story 3, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Home Alone, and Back to the Future.

mamato3luvleys · 05/03/2015 17:03

Most of our favourites have already been recognised in other posts;

Frozen
Despicable me 1&2
All the disneys and ET
My oldest son also has now watched stand by me which was one of my favourites as a youngster.
There's also another that me and my da and dd were all in tears with but I cant remember the name I think it's hyachi" it was about a very loyal dog who used to wait for its owner at the train station but the owner died and the dog still waited for him off the train each day.

OinkBalloon · 05/03/2015 17:55

The Shreks (well, 1 and 2, at least), the Toy Stories, and the Despicable Mes are firm favourites here.

'Allo 'Allo and Mr Bean are well-loved here, too.

PeopleOnTheEdgeOfTheNight · 05/03/2015 18:20

Lady and the tramp and Mary Poppins are good as they have no scary bits.

HappySunflower · 05/03/2015 21:19

Both the Nanny McPhee Films, Madeleine, Mary Poppins and all three Toy Story films- those are our favourites!

EmLH · 05/03/2015 21:21

The films we most like watching as a family are Gnomeo & Juliet, Epic, Despicable Me 1&2, The Croods, Rise Of The Guardians and How To Train Your Dragon 1&2. I think I enjoy these as much as DD!

The film she and DH most like to watch together is the 2010 version of Alice In Wonderland.

As DD is getting older (now 5), we are finding different types of films for her to enjoy and I am getting to re-visit some films from my youth such as Home Alone and Santa Claus The Movie. We love family movie time on a Sunday afternoon or a rainy/cold day Smile

Monsters inc, my favourite bit is at the beginning when Sully is doing his training "bunk beds- grr grr" Grin

duplodancer · 06/03/2015 07:40

Winnie the Pooh, gruffalo, toy story, finding nemo, monsters inc, all the tinkerbells.

Find some of the disney stuff too scary for my sensitive 4 year old DS.

Spirael · 06/03/2015 08:57

The Sound of Music! DD1 absolutely adored it, and still does. It's not got any scary bits (that she understands) and she loves the music.

Added bonus that, being so long, it's a great film to put on when you have lots of jobs to do and need a distraction...

thewomaninwhite · 06/03/2015 09:45

Elf (even when not Christmas time!)

solitudehappiness · 06/03/2015 10:29

The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe was an absolute favourite when ds was little. As was Bugs Life and Finding Nemo. Lovely simple, easy to watch and utterly adorable.

We will also watch the Harry Potter films on a constant loop, school holiday "activity" in this household.

The whole toy story collection is ace and we watch it a lot, my dd loves shark tale and I like the music so that's a good one. Other favourites are all the disney ones, particularly the jungle book, cinderella, snow white and rapunzel. I also love ratatouille.
