Hi girls, i have started a new thread for us all. The other was too long. Hope you all find it.

Hi ladies

Have had a pretty busy week and have been out enjoying this lovely weather.

Have been running a couple of times this week, and have started to walk the mile journey to pick ds from pre-school. He needs the exercise, he's gotten a bit lazy due to playing on the wii and watching tv too much

How is your toe now Yommy? I've got a couple of blisters today from wearing my trainers without socks. Hope you've had a good week.

You're hair sounds lovely choclab, how did the gym go? Glad that your ds had a nice birthday. Well done with PMA- keep it up!

Dd1 is at a party this evening so I am going to put the other 2 to bed in a minute and have an hour or so to myself. Looking forward to a nice, sunny weekend

kildare34 · 26/04/2010 18:17

Evening everyone. Sorry I haven't been in contact. I've just had a busy week. The good weather tends to make me more proactive. So what have I been up to... Well joined an exercise/dance class which was great fun but nearly killed me! Then I minded our nephew (who is 2) for 2 days as a favour, so was kept busy. Met a friend for lunch, Garden is keeping me busy etc, running after 2 mad ds. The usual!

So how is everybody doing? Choclab- you hair sounds lovely! How did you get on in your induction to the gym?

Blissa - you have got the fitness bug. You are putting me to shame! How does your ds enjoy the walk home from pre-school?

I am in good form this week no real anxiety this week. However, I am having really vivid dreams!! Like adventure dreams? Anyway talk later. x

blissa · 26/04/2010 21:15

Hi kildare

Know what you mean about the nice weather making you more proactive- it just seems to make everything easier. Well done on the dance class- what sort of dance is it?

Haven't been running since thursday, but I am planning on going tomorrow. Ds is very good on the walk home, there are horses he likes to stop and say hello to!

I've been busy planting seeds and weeding the garden. I started growing a bit of veg last year as something to help me with the anxiety. I really enjoy it now, although dp gets better results than I do.

Hope everyone else is ok xx

PiggyMad · 28/04/2010 15:37

Hi Ladies,
Can I join? I've spent the past two days reading over the whole thread and have found it really comforting knowing other people have the same issues.
For me I've always suffered from panic attacks since the age of about 20 (my mum and gm also have them) but I'm usually ok when life is going well. Just in stressful times my anxiety rockets and I have a bit of everything - health anxiety, general anxiety, bit OCD about germs and contamination etc - and the general panic attacks!
I had a really bad time of it last summer - having to relocate as partner got new job, we were struggling to get on, I was on a work placement and struggling financially trying to do a part-time PhD. Anyway, everything just crashed and I was in bed for days convinced I had something terribly wrong with me. Took trips to four different doctors for me to accept it was anxiety.
Just starting to get back on top of things but have good and bad days. Like most of you I HATE Tesco, motorway driving and public transport!!
Anyway sorry for the rant (quite therpaeutic actually). Hope everyone is feeling ok!

blissa · 28/04/2010 19:26

Hi PiggyMad, wow you read the whole thread?!!. Of course you can join us.

Sounds like you had a very rough time last year, but it's good to hear you feel you are getting back on top of things. It is very therapeutic to rant here, and to talk to others going through similar, it helped me a lot.

Not sure where everyone has disappeared to though!

I have spent my day in the garden weeding and sowing things. Not sure anything will grow in my soil, but I've done some in pots as back up. The high light of my day -not- was fishing a dead squirrel out next doors water butt,he couldn't face it. Poor thing must have fallen in, we have a family living at the end of the garden.

Ds is not well tonight, he's coughing and has a bit of a temp. Dp is working tonight so I have to keep ds up and take him and dd2 to pick dd1 up from brownies in a bit.

Hope you are all ok xx

Morning Ladies,

Sorry not been on for a while, been so busy. Have been reading, but just no time for tying, lol! Infact I did do a big long message the other night and I lost it, was so peed I couldn;t be bothered tying it all again!

Glad to hear you are all sounding well! I have been okay too! Although our weather has been back to pants rain again!

Blissa, how is DS today hope he is feeling better?!

Welcome pigymad, nice to have a new face

choclab - well done on the gym I have still be going too! Loving it!

Be back on later - promise

blissa · 29/04/2010 10:41

Morning ladies

Glad you are enjoying the gym choclab, don't think I'd be able to manage many yoga postitions , I struggle to touch my toes! I have to straighten my hair too, I'm very of my friend who can just blow dry hers and it is all nice and straight, mine is very wavy.

Good to see you yommy. Weather here isn't brilliant today either, it's not raining, but the suns not out.

Ds is still hotstuff. He had a temp of 39.2 this morning so I have kept him at home today, he is sat watching Bolt! He was up a few times in the night so I hope to get him to have a nap later, but he doesn't seem keen. He's still coughing too. We were supposed to go over to my friends for dinner later, but have had to cancel.

Just pottering about at home today

PiggyMad · 29/04/2010 11:47

Morning ladies!
Hope the gym is going well choclab! You're better than me - I joined an expensive gym where we used to live and went swimming about once a week - when I worked it out the swimming sessions came to about twelve quid!! eek!

Hope DS gets better soon blissa - shame about having to cancel dinner.

Weather's all hot and sticky here and a bit grey - hate it.

Had mini meltdown last night after smelling burning really strongly and not being able to locate the source - convinced myself I have a brain tumour (fault of Married Single Other as I had no idea this was a sympton until I watched that!). Much better this morning apart from very puffy eyes after crying myself tp sleep Have decided I'm converting to Sainsbury's - been for the shopping this morning and was fine - even quite enjoyed it. Maybe Tesco has funny lighting ?!

Hope everyone has a good day - I've got a chapter to write so am forcing myself to turn the tv off and get on with it!! xx

blissa · 29/04/2010 13:27

Are you writing a book PiggyMad?

Well done in Sainsburys- they are building a new in town so I will test out your theory when it opens

Glad you are feeling better this morning, I never knew that was a symptom of a brain tumour- interesting.

Ds is absolutely refusing to go to sleep- even though he looks like he needs match sticks to keep his eyes open. I've just put some blueberry muffins in the oven, and am making a start on dinner

PiggyMad · 29/04/2010 13:34

Apparently smelling burning rubber is, but I'm sure that must be along with other symptoms - I've not had the balls to google it and to be honest, try to avoid google now!

I'm doing a phd in children's literature. It's really interesting but sometimes I do have to push myself to get motivation!

The muffins sound yummy - DS is probs wanting to stay awake to nab one! I'm also envious of your garden and vegetable patch! We live in a flat at the mo so don't have any private outdoor space. Do live near a lovely park though so it's not all bad!

Back to procrastination work!

blissa · 29/04/2010 14:10

Yes I've learned the stay away from Google lesson too!

Your phd sounds interesting. How long have you been doing that. I tried to a starter OU course a couple of years ago, but I didn't finish it- no motivation.

Muffins are done and I've tested one! Ds doesn't like cake . He seems to have cooled off slightly but looks awful.

The veg patch isn't all that tbh. We rent our house, and hope to move at some point so I don't want to put in all the work.

choclab · 29/04/2010 18:06

Hi all .
Piggy ...how you doing now ?

I watched that program and was in totall shock when that part of story was in it was really enjoying up till that point ... i have to not allow myself to press the google botton to ....

Nice to have u back yoummy

i had a dizzy spell at work today really set me back a bit ....
i was busy all day standing im a hairdresser and went from client to client , didnt eat much grabbed a cup of decafe but that was about it ... was hot to ...
the only thing i can think is i was , dehydrated? my period is due tomorrow or next day , could that make me feel like this ?
I have had it before a bit around this time ...
I had FBC and other bloods done in FEB all fine . doc daid i am low iron but not anemic .
should i worry ?

trying not to worry ..

really dont want to go into panic mode again ... as been doing so well ..

thanks for listening xx

PiggyMad · 29/04/2010 18:17

Hi choclab - are you feeling better now? the dizziness is the worst part of the anxiety for me. I sometimes get this thing where it feels like things shake from side to side randomly. I just put it down to stress, but I am always worse and 'wobbly' before my period too. Also could be tiredness/dehydration/lack of food. Try not to panic (says me - hypocrite!!) but I don't think it's anything to worry about - probs just one of those things.

Was so peeved when the programme ended like that - had been watching and enjoying it and then they throw up a distressing storyline - which I now avoid like the plague or I myseteriously 'develop' the symptoms of any illnesses the next day!!

Hope the muffins were nice blissa! We rent too and are trying to save a deposit but it's quite disheartening going with out stuff and still being miles away from a decent deposit. Nevermind, no rush really - no DCs yet but am desperate to start trying (hence me being on netmums ). Think DP is concerned that pregnancy and new baby would have adverse effect on recovery from anxiety, but I suppose my argument is that at least if I've suffered before then i know how to deal with it and what to expect, which is perhaps 'better' than someone totally oblivious suffering from pnd or post natal anxiety? What do you think? Forewarned is forearmed?!

choclab · 29/04/2010 18:46

Thanks Piggy

Trying not to worry , do you suffer with HA ? like me ?

and i was like you when that program ended like it did ...
not good for me to see ... as i go self checking when things like that come on ...

Ho you get any help with your Anxiety at all ?

Buffins sound nice Blissa

iv been without a oven cooker for 6 weeks ... my new one just arrived today but got to wait till sat to get fitted ... so ding dinners again tonight im affraid ...

looking forward to cooking some nice meals again thats for sure ....

x

PiggyMad · 29/04/2010 19:47

choclab - Can't believe you've managed 6 weeks without an oven - what have you eaten?! I've just been diagnosed with Anxiety and Panic Disorder, but I think it's more health anxiety tbh. I've never been on medication, but saw a private counsellor who was lovely just to get a bit of confidence back. I saw an nhs cbt woman once but as she was younger than me (and I'm only 25!!) it felt a bit uncomfortable and weird so I never went back (I'm not ageist, just felt like a younger sister).
I've done online cbt - have you heard the website livinglifetothefull.com? and there's another one I can't remember. The website nomorepanic.com is good too and has good forums. The thing that helped me the most was Claire Weekes' book Self-help for your nerves as it describes and explains all of the physical symptoms. Generally I try to cope by walking lots, relaxation cds and lavendar oil burners and nice baths and mainly keeping busy. It's just hard when you think you're getting better and then have wobbles and panic thinking 'oh no, I'm going back again'.

blissa · 29/04/2010 19:56

Glad you are feeling better choclab. I get dizziness and the shakes quite a bit too, especially when I don't eat. I think it was probably because you hadn't eaten and you had been on your feet. Maybe you should try and eat more iron-rich foods if your levels were a bit low. Try not to worry, just make sure you eat more regularly.

6 wwks is a long time to be without your cooker- not sure how I would have coped!

Muffins are nice but the dds have decided they don't like them so I have lots to eat!

I think you're right about being aware of the fact you could be more prone to pnd Piggy. Are you going to finish your phd before you try for a baby?

Ds has not slept all day and is struggling to settle now, although he is very tired. His eyes and nose are streaming and he is still very warm. Probably be up again with him during the night. Might have a nice glass of wine

choclab · 29/04/2010 20:01

sounds as though your doing quite well ..

its horrid HA i had now for almost 4 years ...
panic attacks are awful , maybe my dizzy today is combo of it all ...peirod due ...hormone changes i guess .

i had a lovely full body massage on monday was bliss
she did some hot stones massage to , never had that before
was amazing .... would highly recommend , i felt so chilled after ... only trouble is i want it once a week now but will try keep up and treat myself to once a month .

i tried a little CBT and got many books , when get chance to read them they are good ...

blissa · 29/04/2010 20:06

of your massage choclab- good for you

I found the nomorepanic website very helpful too. Can totally relate to what you say about having a younger counsellor Piggy, I think I'd feel a bit weird.

choclab · 29/04/2010 20:06

Thanks Blissa ... will try eat bit better , i am one of those ones that do normally eat regular but today was bad as i was busy , didnt get chance to stop ...

i normally have breakfast then 10.30 sandwhich or yogurt /fruit then at lunch sanwhich or pasta , then mid afternood something els apple , then bout 7 dinner .
other wise i do get the shakes and can get really grumpy ..

Hope DS is on the mend and manages to have good sleep....
and you get that glass of wine

blissa · 29/04/2010 20:09

Got it choclab all is quiet...

choclab · 29/04/2010 20:46

blissa x

YommyMommy · 29/04/2010 21:36

Evening Girls,

Told you o'd be back tonight! Threat has been busy today! Taken me ages to read it all! lol!

Been so busy this ast few weeks. And this week have been run off my feet. My mum is in host haveing an Op so been up and down to visit her and trying to get the boys organised. DH has gone back to work, so its been tough. Been feeling a bit anxious again most the "what if" thing.

Anyway, enough about me.

Blissa - you're poor DS - hoe you all get a better sleep tonight. I was up through the night with my DS too, think its his teeth.

Choclab - I get dizzy spells too. It only last for slipt second but can really throw you. I get them if I've not eaten, near my period and in stressfu situations. All part of the lovely anxiety . So jealous about full body massage! Sounds amazing!!!

Piggymad - i think you will be okay with a baby - might be hard work with the anxiety, but you already know how to cope! I had my second DS while I was suffering and I did just fine

Going to head to bed - got another long day tomorrow! Weekend can;t come fast enough.

P.S. I'll share the muffins Blissa

kildare34 · 30/04/2010 10:46

Morning everyone, and welcome PiggyMad! Well such a mad few days My dad(he is 61) was in hospital since Monday evening with feeling dizzy. He was feeling dizzy/weak over the weekend. Dad has 4 stents in his heart and they had to run a load of tests to rule out blockages/bloodclots etc. So you can imagine we were all worried about him. Anyway turns out that his medication has to be adjusted because his blood pressure is dipping. Nothing that can't be fixed, thank god! Dad and my mother are both very relieved. So he is back in work next week.

Went to my therapist on Tueday and had a very good session. Feel I am coming to the end with her in my own mind as I feel I have talked through all the issues/feelings with her. I think I probably will have 2/3 more sessions. Will see how it goes. She is excellent and even my dh sees the difference it has made to me. So all good!

Well enough about me. YommyMommy - Hope you are feeling ok today, how is your mother doing? It can be very stressful trying to get the children minded when you need to be with your mother. Thinking of you

Blissa - How is your ds? I hope you all had a nice sleep last night!

Choclab - I can feel dizzy when I don't eat regularly or when I am tired. So by the sounds of it you were on your feet all day and probably didn't have time to eat. I am very jealous of your back massage! I love when they use the hot stones, they are fab!

PiggyMad - Fair play to you on your PHD. I have a friend who completed his and it is very mentally/physically draining but so worth it. Be kind to yourself.

Better go, domestic bliss awaits me
p.s. I went to a hip hop dance class (don't ask) NEVER AGAIN....

blissa · 30/04/2010 14:16

Good to hear your dad is ok kildare, must have been very worrying for you all. Your counselling sounds like it has been very beneficial to you. And I have to ask about the hip hop class

Hope you're ok Yommy. How is your mum? My mum was hospitalised a couple of years ago and needed an op- it can be very stressful. If I could bring you some muffins over I would

Ds had me up most of the night so I am pretty tired today. I helped out at pre-school this morning so dp looked after him. He is a bit better today, certainly not as hot.
