Hello ladies,

As we seem to have reached our limit on the other thread, I thought I had better start a new one!!

We have the 'positive' one started by our lovely BB - so I suggest we keep this as the 'anxious' one (i.e. the one where we can all say "OMG, it said on the news that someone v-d 200 miles away from me - am I going to catch it?!") We can share our worries, however silly they sound, without undoing the good work on the other thread. What do you all think?

I shall start off by saying that every time DD speaks, I think she's going to say she feels sick!!!

Now that really is neurotic...

Oh poor you Dot. Hope you feel better soon. I take it you haven't actually v'd then which is good.

Let's face it though anyone in any country can get food poisoning from all sorts of things. I'm very careful what i eat so wouldn't eat a mcdonalds burger in this country or any other!

mynaughtylittlesister · 24/01/2009 21:21

Hi Dot, I suffer a bit from anxiety. when I get really anxious I feel really sick, sometimes it makes me reach, at other times I can actually be sick.
Maybe it is the anxiety of all the bugs around at the moment. It is really horrid. I too have a emetaphobia. Which is awful especially as I get very anxious - feel sick etc, then constantly worry about DC (I have 3).

Hope that makes sense!

wiggleit · 24/01/2009 22:22

Hi naughty, welcome. I too suffer with anxiety and also retch which is awful. i've started retching a lot lately, i don't know why, maybe i am in a bit of an anxious state all the time, as you say, worrying about all the horrid bugs going around makes you anxious. I HATE this tiome of year!!!!!

Dottoressa · 24/01/2009 22:23

Hello wiggle. No v yet, thank goodness!! I am sure that I would have done already if I were going to. See - I am looking on the positive side...

I wouldn't touch a McDs in any country either. Aaargh.

Hello naughty. I feel for you! Fortunately for me (iyswim), I'm too scared of being sick to let myself get sick through anxiety - but unfortunately, I have definitely had a bug (high temp, flu symptoms, bad tummy cramps, and now this lingering sicky feeling ).

I just hope the DCs don't get it - not to mention DH!

Yeah Dot, think you would have v'd by now.

I remember years ago i had gastric flu for 2 weeks and felt the most sick i have ever felt in my life but i wasn't sick. I was soooo determined i wasn't going to let myself be sick. Not sure i could do that now though, i retch quite easily now, even just brushing my teeth has me gagging..awful.

imaginaryfriend · 24/01/2009 22:51

I wouldn't eat mcdonalds anywhere either.

The last time dd v'd was after a long train journey home from visiting family and we'd been forced to buy her some Burger King fries as nothing else was available. She threw them all up as soon as we got home. She was completely fine the next day and back to normal so I know it wasn't a bug. Put me off forever it did.

wiggle, do you never bring anything up when you retch? What time of day does it happen?

wiggleit · 25/01/2009 22:21

if - i (touching every single bit of wood i can find) don't bring anything up when i retch, it literally is just me gagging, it's awful.Going to mention it to the doctor coz i don't understand why it's happening. It happens at any time of the day. A drink usually takes the feeling away. How are you? x

How is everyone else?xx

mynaughtylittlesister · 25/01/2009 22:32

I have been accused of being pregnant because of my retching/heaving. I hate it, this kind of behaviour has been happening for me since November. (I know I am not pregnant!)

It wasn't until I was seeing a counsellor for something completey different that she asked me if I was stressed. I was so shocked that I said yes, we spoke briefly about it and she told me to speak to my GP about it - I did speak to GP although I didn't tell him about the reaching etc..... At the moment he has referred me to the GP counsellor!

Although the way things are here at the momnt, I think maybe I do need something else.

mynaughtylittlesister · 25/01/2009 22:34

Think that should say "completely not completey

imaginaryfriend · 25/01/2009 22:35

I'm ok wiggle, up and down as always. I sometimes feel like retching first thing in the morning and have found that immediately having a very sweet black coffee gets rid of it. It's weird isn't it? I also sometimes have a very unpleasant taste / sensation in my mouth that makes me feel like retching.

I was also never like this before either.

imaginaryfriend · 25/01/2009 22:38

naughty and wiggle, do either of you drink much alcohol?

I'm not a heavy drinker but because my nerves get quite bad I tend to have a beer and I wonder sometimes if drinking that on an often empty stomach is irritating my stomach?

I often have an empty stomach! I rarely eat anything during the daytime but I do try in the evenings to make up for it.

I take motillium / domperidone every night before I go to bed as I also tend to get very bloated.

mynaughtylittlesister · 25/01/2009 22:40

I do drink alcohol, not when illness is around though!

I do eat through the day, although I have to say if any of my DDs are ill(or if anyone is ill where I work) my appetite goes big time!

wiggleit · 25/01/2009 22:48

if - yes i do drink alcohol...not to the point of being bladdered but enough to relax me. I am worried about my drinking actually because it has become kind of a crutch for me..(that's the first time i've admitted that!) I do ask my DH if he thinks i have a drink problem and he says no but i do drink a lot more than i ever used to. scary..

naughty - good luck with the counselling. I tried it, it helped a little but i am still mega stressed! I'm going back to my GP this week to try and get some help with my mental health coz lately i really feel like i can't cope. I too take motilium when necessary. I also get stemetil from the Dr's but they can nake me drowsy but they do work.

imaginaryfriend · 25/01/2009 22:55

wiggle - do you mind me asking how much you drink?

I feel similar in that I like to have a drink to calm my nerves but as it's such a small amount I don't seriously consider it a problem. I tend to have 1 or 2 4% beers in the evening. I've worked out that's only 2 units a day, a pint, and so I'm not over the recommended weekly limit.

wiggleit · 25/01/2009 22:57

if - its funny that you say you don't eat much in the day but make up for it at night..night time is my worst time,i dread waking up in the middle of the night feeling sick so like to go to bed feeling hungry, but i will eat in the day. I do eat at night if i'm feeling brave or if we are out having a meal with friends and it can't be avoided but if i have the choice i won't eat late. I always have my anti-emetics to hand, wherever i am!

The alcohol thing is wierd and has kind of crept up on me coz at one time i was tee-total but now barely a day goes by that i don't have a drink.

It relaxes me but in a weird way i think of it as maybe killing off any germs (i drink whisky or brandy and red wine (not all at once! )..someone once mentioned to me that they had brandy after meals in foreign countries to avoid food poisoning ??? (not sure if there is any truth in it but i'm giving it a go! )

wiggleit · 25/01/2009 22:59

if - i drink more than i should i know that, it's more than 2 units a night. I do measure my drinks but can easily have 4 or 5 units a night HELP! x

imaginaryfriend · 25/01/2009 23:02

I'm also terrified of feeling ill in the night that's why I take my motillium before bed.

But I can't eat and go out and as I'm usually busy in the day - work / school runs / shopping then I don't tend to eat anything. My most enormous fear is to v while out. Particularly in situation like traveling on the tube.

mynaughtylittlesister · 25/01/2009 23:04

IF, I normally have a good couple of glasses of wine (or beer- my fav!!!)

To help me sleep of course!!

You are right, it does become a problem, because I cant imagine a night with out it!

I am talking probably 3 small glasses of wine (not a bottle worth, more like a bottle every 2 nights) my wine glasses are sherry glasses!

wiggleit · 25/01/2009 23:14

if - i understand the fear of v'ing while out..for years i never used to eat anything if i was going anywhere, i seem to have overcome that now, don't ask me how! I NEVER used to eat out at all but i do now so i suppose i've made a bit of progress that way. Saying that, i do have to take a valium if i'm going out for a meal in order for me to be able to eat otherwise i get that tight feeling in my throat and can't swallow. nerves!

naughty - i too drink to help me sleep (that's my excuse and i'm sticking to it!) I couldn't drink a bottle of wine in a night, i've had enough after one glass (usually with food, my tea)but then i go onto the shorts and just carry on topping up. It's just become a bad habit that i need to get a grip of. I never have a hangover or anything which is quite worrying in itself that my body is used to the amount i drink. I daren't mention to my Dr how much i drink coz i'm too embarrassed but i know i want to cut down. I don't want ot stop entirely because i enjoy it and it's mostly a social thing. If anyone comes round we'll have a glass of wine or a whisky rather than a coffee. Not good.

mynaughtylittlesister · 25/01/2009 23:20

Glad its not just me then!

night night all, off to bed now, catch up soon

By the way, I am a name changer I am normally pinkbubble, just wanted to share that with you guys as you are being so honest! thank you! Good night sleep tight!

wiggleit · 25/01/2009 23:31

I'm not a name changer but i might be now! If you see nowatAA that'll be me!

Thanks for being so kind about things, you are definitely not on your own naughty.

Nighty night xx sleep well

mynaughtylittlesister · 27/01/2009 22:57

I am actually panicking at the moment as my youngest 2 DDs are doing a pantomime this week at Sch.

I find that when I know my DDs are actually intermingling with other year groups , I really stress! - big time!

Although DD3 was ill just before Xmas, we have really been let off lightly with what has been going around and so now I am worried constantly with every moan and groan.

AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH

They have also got a dance show that they have been practising for a good few months, please let them be well......

imaginaryfriend · 28/01/2009 09:37

I worry about things like that too. Dd has an achievement assembley and now all I can think of is that she'll get unwell and be unable to attend. I'm the same for myself too. If I've got anything important going on I worry that I'll come down with something and miss it / ruin things.

dottoressa · 28/01/2009 13:03

Same here!!

I'm always convinced that one of us will be v-ing on a day that really matters, and I worry about it for weeks beforehand ...

OP posts:
wiggleit · 28/01/2009 13:29

Same here too!

I am worrying atm about getting ill nxt week coz we are going to benidorm..i am convinced one of us be ill either before we go or while we are away. I dread any of us being ill away from home.

Hope all goes well for you and your DDs naughty. They'll be fine! ( sending you positive vibes! ) xx
