Don't be embarrassed - keep forgetting you don't all live in Scotland. It's a mountain - highest in UK, if I recall correctly. Not a climby type mountain, mind - you can just walk to the top, I believe. DH is reassuringly chicken about these things, so I suspect he won't go. Actually, that's made me think - do you like porridge? If you can manage a little bowl of that in the morning, it will really help your energy levels during the day.

bellavita · 06/09/2008 14:33

I did not realise it was the highest (I did have to check with DH that it was a mountain and ask where it was though ns)

What Habbibu says about the porridge is very true - 95% of the time on a morning tis what I have for breakfast. A sliced banana on top is even better, or what about some berries on top - I have just bought some more raspberries and blueberries this morning. They are very good for you.

needsupport · 06/09/2008 14:33

well i have learnt something new at least!
erm only porridge we have in is js.dont know where we stand on sharing yet
but yes i really do need to go walking so will get weathered up and go off for a little while.then if i can manage any sleep later i would have done my 3 'things' today!

bellavita · 06/09/2008 14:35

have a good walk ns, I really need to get my arse into gear and do some tidying up.

speak later. x

Habbibu · 06/09/2008 14:44

J would probably be fine eating normal porridge by now - it's also much cheaper! And if you're making some for him, it's as easy to make more. When I don't feel like eating much, I find things like porridge a bit easier, because you just do a spoonful at a time, if that makes any sense. I don't think it does, actually... Have a good walk - hope you come back with rosy cheeks.

snaptoit · 06/09/2008 15:09

On the porridge front I use smaller oats as it cooks faster and I figure easier to digest for my 8 mth old. I add lots of things too. mushed up pear - stewed apple, mashed banana. DD loves it!

Hoping the rain has died down a bit for you. Have just read this thread and think you are an amazing woman. It's tough with a wee one and I have a lot of support.

You are a real inspiration to me and I think of you a lot. So thank you for being you from the bottom of my heart. You have no idea how your story has touched so many people - me included. All these kind words from near strangers are so thoughtful and make me well up.

Be strong - all our hands are on your shoulders

oh jesus.have just made total tit of myself leaving the hardware store
am feeling quite angry with myself actually

Habbibu · 06/09/2008 16:05

what happened?

needsupport · 06/09/2008 16:09

god this is so ridiculous it almost pains me to write it down.
id been in to see if they sold flasks.managed to get a small one so went and paid etc.went to leave and someone was coming in as i was leaving.he reached out to hold the door open and i freaked crying at him to just let me past please.lady from shop came down and asked me if i was alright and i bolted out the door
grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Habbibu · 06/09/2008 16:12

Oh, god, don't be angry at yourself! It's not ridiculous - it's sad that you feel like this, but totally understandable. Please don't let it blight your day too much - you're doing so well.

Habbibu · 06/09/2008 16:14

What do you think you're most upset about? That you're still very wary of strange men? That you feel embarrassed?

needsupport · 06/09/2008 16:17

im most upset that i cant even do a simple shopping trip without over reacting to something anyone else wouldnt think twice about.im very wary of men.couldnt even look at psychos husband
oh god i just want to do normal things again!

needsupport · 06/09/2008 16:18

wish i hadnt gone out tbh.this has fucked up my day

Habbibu · 06/09/2008 16:22

Oh love. Other people would only "not think twice" about these things because they haven't been through what you have. That's the only reason why. You are doing normal things, and you're doing so well. Please don't let it bring you down too much - it's a setback - but you went out, did what you needed and came back. And you're ok. You had a fright. A totally understandable fright that set your heart racing and brought your fears back. But you are ok. Keep talking, please.

Habbibu · 06/09/2008 16:26

I have to go and get dd up, cvq (long sleep this afternoon), but I'll be back later. Hang on in there!

needsupport · 06/09/2008 16:28

all he did was reach out to hold the door open and i instantly thought he was going to grab mefor fucks sake i was having such a good day.and now i feel like a total twat.as soon as i could break away i just ran
i dont think im ever going to get rid of these feelings

MatNanPlus · 06/09/2008 16:33

You have had these feelings near the surface for a but so they will be fresh.

I am sure they have both thought on it and forgotten it.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Habbibu · 06/09/2008 16:36

I'm back - she's conked out, and I didn't have the heart to wake her! Right, listen. You are NOT a twat. The way you felt may not be rational, but it is totally understandable. You reacted quickly and got an additional adrenalin reaction from that, which won't have helped your stress.

The feelings won't disappear, but they will gradually fade. In the meantime, can you try to do some of the calming techniques that have been suggested earlier in this thread. So much of this day has been good for you, and you've done so well. This is a little setback. That's all.

You can do this. I know you can. It won't happen straight away, and there will be setbacks, but you will get through this.

Notquitegrownup · 06/09/2008 16:41

CvQ, please don't let that incident spoil your day. Yes, it happened, but you also managed to get there and buy your flask, so that is a positive from today, to balance out the negative.

You could look at it as one more thing to add to your list of things to deal with in counselling in the future - finding techniques for getting past men in the street - but you don't need to bother about that now.

Sleep well tonight - at least you will be able to have a midnight cup of chocolate now, if you want one.

Thinking of you.

needsupport · 06/09/2008 16:45

gahhhhhh im so bloody cross with myself though.i didnt even make to the chemist to get that stuff.yes a setback maybe but i was having a fucking good day for once

bellavita · 06/09/2008 16:45

Anyone that has been through what you have would have reacted exactly the same way.

Only a tiny step back that's all. But hey, look at the positive outcome of today -

  1. You have been out
  2. You have bought a flask
  3. You can now have a hot drink upstairs
without waking your Mum

So, smiles all round.

bellavita · 06/09/2008 16:48

......and soon ladieees, we are going to have to start a new thread with a positive new name as this one is reaching nearly a 1000 posts!

Habbibu · 06/09/2008 16:51

Oh, so we are. Come on, what will we call it? cvq, you should have the honour of first pick.

needsupport · 06/09/2008 16:52

i dont know waht you mean?
