gigglewitch · 05/09/2008 23:28

i mean when you wake with a jump when you're not ready to wake up really, and end up all shaky and head-achey.
can you get some more rest or is there stuff flying round your head now?

needsupport · 05/09/2008 23:30

mummylin2495 · 05/09/2008 23:30

Ns ,you have great strength of character which we can all see in you.You prove your strength by caring for your little son and for the way you are constantly seeking for help.As i said in my last post ,you have undertaken a very stressful task for yourself today,it is reasonable to think that you would be unsettled by it.You are a very brave girl.Eventually you will find the peace of mind that you deserve.

gigglewitch · 05/09/2008 23:32

shite when that happens

I'm watching complete twaddle on telly, i can recommend it if you need distraction

thumbwitch · 05/09/2008 23:33

hi lovey, it's probably just a reaction to what you have achieved today, as you said, your bod is in shock.

Well done you for going and how fantastic that you only had 1 panic attack - that's great! Sounds like you have a great counsellor there - did you have your mum sitting in with you for any point during the sesh or did she just wait for you outside?

Have yourself a cup of sweet tea or another hot chocolate - that will help with the shock.
Have you got any rescue remedy yet? if not, get some tomorrow - it is perfect for times like this, just takes the edge off and allows you to deal with things without the physiological reactions getting in the way.

(((((((((hugs)))))))))) and for you - you are an amazing girl who is coping far better than you give yourself credit for - yay you!

gigglewitch · 05/09/2008 23:45

needsupport · 05/09/2008 23:48

Wezzle · 05/09/2008 23:55

goodnight wezzle x

thumbwitch · 06/09/2008 00:00

well, we can always try and recreate the calm feeling for you - did you manage to get some nice relaxing music today while you were out or was it just to your appt and then home again?

i have just looked on Youtube for relaxation stuff for you and found this guided meditation for stress release and relaxation - there are a few there so you might find one that you prefer, or even just some relaxation music.

Have you done the "safe place" thing at all with anyone? This is something that is useful when you are feeling panicky or stressed up. You need to be in a fairly relaxed state to start with - then you think of a time and place where you were truly happy and felt safe. You concentrate on this place - see everything in detail, check the colours of what you can see, make it brighter if that's what makes it better or dimmer if that improves it.
THen you concentrate on the sounds that are associated with this place - listen to them in your mind, have them as loud or as quiet as makes you feel the best.
Then focus on the feelings in your body - the temperature around you, what you are in contact with, is there any breeze gently wafting over you - make these as pleasant as they can be.
As you concentrate on honing this scenario to perfection, allow yourself to relax, breathing more slowly and deeply. Then, when you feel the best you can, name this safe place with an appropriate and memorable name. Say it to yourself 3 times, each time in a deeper and slower voice. This helps to "set" the feelings and pictures in your brain, so that you can recall it at a moment's notice.

THen, whenever you are feeling panicky, scared, overwhelmed or whatever, you can say the name of your safe place and it will come to mind, bringing all those feelings of comfort, peace and relaxation with it, helping you to deal with the problems that arise.

This is the best I can do on MN for you - it is derived from genuine therapeutic techniques, not just made up stuff!

Bach rescue remedy isn't particularly expensive, you get a titchy bottle tho but it really stops the symptoms of panic and anxiety
this is the stuff. I have absolutely no clue how it works, but can testify that it most certainly does, and i was a huuuuuge sceptic. Get it, if you have occasion to need such stuff. DC pre-exam nerves, anything. fabulous.

gigglewitch · 06/09/2008 00:02

T'other Witch talks lots of sense.
i'm gonna re-read her post

psychomum5 · 06/09/2008 00:04
