My dog saved my life yesterday

I have insurmountable problems. They really are insurmountable. Health issues , work issues , family issues and friend issues.

I rang Samaritans last night and even the volunteer said my plan was well thought through and I'd thought about everything. And i had . I had every last detail sorted.

Except my dog would not leave me . I tried to shut him in the kitchen with a note on the door , and he wouldn't stop crying and scratching to get back to me .
When I let him out he stuck to my side . He wouldn't let me go to the loo alone . He got into bed next to me . He got on my knee . He cuddled into my neck . He eventually got under the covers and made sure he was touching me all night .

So I couldn't do it . I couldn't bear the thought of him crying to get to me . So I'm still here . I hate my life so much but I can't leave him . He's absolutely the only reason I'm here today .

Life can be a rollercoaster. But you have people who obviously care, and a beautiful dog.

Oh OP. I've been a paid carer and I promise you it is impossible not to care for your clients. They become a massive part of your life. Those people care, they genuinely, truly care for you. And so does your daughter. She is hurt and angry right now but she loves you.

It sounds like your manager cares about you too.

It's so easy to feel alone when you're low and so, so hard to see the people around you who love you.

Things can get so on top of us we only see the negatives in our lives. I can guarantee the people you leave behind will never understand why you did it and not have a clue of the pain you are currently feeling. People you had no idea that care, they are around you. You just need to let them in and start making small but positive changes.

When I was in a dark place a few years ago I was given this advice and it really helped. Start by looking for one thing a day you are grateful for, every morning when you wake up thank the world for that one thing. Then before you go to bed find one positive from the day that you are grateful for and say it out loud how thankful you are. Every few days find more things to add for that day.
Only you are in control of your life and what it brings, make it count. No one on here knows you but we know that you have a dog who your are clearly his whole world, his reason for life. You have a cleaner that barely knows you that cares, a boss, a best friend. They all care, and are things in your life to be grateful for.

Can’t read this and not respond. So sorry you are feeling like this and so glad your beautiful boy is with you and that his love has given you a reason to keep going. When you are in that dark, dark place it’s hard to carry on, but someone close to me has been there and things are much better now. Everything can change, though it can be a long road and patience is needed. Please do speak to your doctor tomorrow, there is help out there and your carer and manager have shown you that people do care.

Oh op sending a virtual hug… just remember you are loved so much by your dog, all he wants is for you to be alive for him… he thinks you are fantastic so maybe he is right.

I am glad you’ve got your priceless dog and I am glad there are people around you who care about you.
I hope you find some more happiness soon, but meanwhile, one day at a time, keep going because your dog needs you and it is absolutely evident from the reactions of people around you that you are lovable and care-about-able.

It sounds as though you do need professional help, whatever you told your manager. Have you been referred to Occupational Health?

Regarding pip, have you appealed the decision? There's a fabulous Facebook group that helps people claim pip.

Hang in there and fight minute to minute if you have to.

Yours is obviously telling you how much you are worth and his unconditional love is so special.
Please don't hesitate to take any help offered-to get you through short term, to sort the PIP etc etc.
You aren't alone.

Oh sweetheart I knew you were at such a low ebb the other day. I'm sorry you feel so desperate and thank god for your wee dog.

You don't need to solve all your problems. Sometimes there is just nothing you can do or it's not actually your problem to solve.

Take one day at a time and try to remember how people reacted today, your helper, your manager, your best friend. They were there, and that lovely dog is priceless.
