still taking tablet at 9.30pm each night. Think I’m going to have to change timing as I’m so tired every morning until lunch time.

all the rages and and crippling doubts and neuroses just vanished and the person underneath them struggling to get out emerged.

It really did feel like a wonder drug and it changed me from being a raging, unbearable mum and wife, into a calm and cheerful one.

@goldfinchonthelawn This is exactly me above. A raging unbearable mum. I don’t want to be like this no more. U have really encouraged me to stay on these as ur outcome is what I want. Last week I was in better form, nearly daze like and nicer to be around. Though as last couple of days I have taken 100000 steps back and last night was a nightmare.

I really can’t turn back now. I can’t be like this anymore. What mg were u on? Xo

I was on 20mg I think. Might have gone up to 25 or 30 for a while but pretty sure it was 20mg most of the timne. Then I got a pill cutter and titrated down really gradually. After years, when the side effects outweighed the benefits. But at first the benefits changed my life.

Hang in there. It is so lovely when you discover you didn;t scream about something but took a breath and thought about it and solved it with DC in a calm and gentle way. (Or with DH Grin)

Painintheass22 · 23/06/2022 16:16

Oh the tiredness just won’t go away. Will this pass?

Hi @Painintheass22 , sorry I've not posted for a while but I've had Covid and been quite poorly with it all week! Just came on to say hang on in there. You've come too far to give up!

Re the tiredness, I really don't know - I get v tired and need a nap most days, but I did pre-citalopram, so I don't think it's that. [gallic shrug] How are you sleeping?

Painintheass22 · 26/06/2022 05:35

@FetchezLaVache so sorry u were feeling poorly. How are you now? I honestly feel like stopping. I can’t handle it

Desiredeffect · 26/06/2022 06:37

I have been on it for 4 years now and it's totally helped me. I don't feel much anxiety and life is calmer.

Painintheass22 · 26/06/2022 09:39

my life is a mess and nothing is going to help me

OP posts:
Painintheass22 · 26/06/2022 11:12

would upping my dose to 20mg help?

OP posts:
FetchezLaVache · 26/06/2022 11:57

@Painintheass22 I'm getting better, thanks! It's been a shit week though and DS (12) has now caught it and seems even worse than I was.

You might need to up your dose to 20mg, I did, but I can't remember how soon I did it or whether you need to get accustomed to 10mg first and then increase. Can you get a phone appointment with your GP?

But please don't stop! You have to give it a fair run. Do you think, as you've had this with everything you've tried, it's a psychological reaction? Maybe try a mindfulness meditation video on YouTube or do some yoga. Find some inner zen! Wink

JLwac · 26/06/2022 12:05

10mg didn't do anything for me. I now take 20mg and life is so much better for me. I used to be anxious, depressed and angry, and now people comment on how laid back I am! Please don't give them up yet OP - maybe ask your GP about a 20mg dose? I take mine after breakfast every day as I find if I don't eat first I feel sick.

goldfinchonthelawn · 26/06/2022 12:48

Painintheass22 · 26/06/2022 11:12

would upping my dose to 20mg help?

yes, 20mg should be the minimum if you are actually depressed, 10ml just keeps you goingonce you feel OK.

hang in there.

IhopeYourCakeIsShit · 26/06/2022 12:52

@HoneyFlowers The OP has already googled side effects and specifically asked for positive stories so that she doesn't chicken out/scare herself and not get better, you daft woman.

Painintheass22 · 26/06/2022 14:26

@FetchezLaVache i feel I’m getting worse instead of better. It’s awful to the point I’m nearly suicidal

OP posts:
Painintheass22 · 26/06/2022 14:28

@JLwac thank u. At what point did u change from 10mg to 20mg? I’m about 16 days on them now and they arent helping. I feel suicidal. Like I’m stuck in a hole and everyone would be better without me

OP posts:
Painintheass22 · 26/06/2022 14:29

@IhopeYourCakeIsShit thank you. I didn’t dwell too much on that post as if I did I wouldn’t have took it. I really need positive stories.

@Painintheass22 Keep going, I took it for about 18 months or so, many years ago when suffering from pnd.
Absolute life saver and it gave me that helping hand to start getting back to normal.
There was this gradual realisation one day that I didn't feel like crap or want to burst into tears or chuck myself in the local river.
Once you do feel more 'normal' start investing in other ways to maintain your physical and mental health so that when you gradually taper off and face life's normal ups and downs you will feel better equipped to handle things.
Much love to you.

JLwac · 26/06/2022 17:20

I changed to 20mg after about a month I think, but as you are feeling so low I would speak to your GP tomorrow if you can. I'm sorry things are so hard for you at the moment. It will get better Flowers

Painintheass22 · 26/06/2022 18:01

@IhopeYourCakeIsShit @JLwac i will ring doctor in morning and see what she thinks. It’s hard to get the doctor I want though. I just need to know there is light at the end of the tunnel. I am honestly pushing my loved ones so far away. I hope someday I can come on here to tell someone else it was life changing

Hi

Got chatting to my GP this afternoon and she gave me the go ahead to start 20mg dose. And to take 2x10mg today and she will do me out a prescription for 20mg tablet from tomorrow.

so I have just taken them. Needing more positive stories from ladies who went from 10mg to 20mg? Feeling weak and scared 🥺

OP posts:
Painintheass22 · 27/06/2022 19:47

So 17 days on 10mg. now on 20mg from 18th day.

OP posts:
Painintheass22 · 27/06/2022 21:33

Anyone?

OP posts:
JLwac · 28/06/2022 07:55

I was worried at first, but honestly 20mg helps me to live a "normal" life. I'm going to a meeting this morning and I have no anxiety at all. I feel so much better in myself and not depressed anymore x

Painintheass22 · 29/06/2022 00:13

Really needing this to kick in. Feel like I’m getting worse....borderline psychosis!!! Just need to mellow out and feel normal so desperately
