Seeing all these Feeling Low Posts makes me feel like screaming THAT'S LIFE

I'm sorry

I don't really read these threads

I do know that depression is a real illness and requires medical help and I do not wish to denigrate those who are suffering in this way

I cannot help thinking that a lot of these posts stem from expecting more from life than there really is. Some people just seem to want to feel good all the time, and the things that are getting you down are JUST LIFE

I think a lot of you do need to pull your socks up and stop analysing things. just get on with your lives and make the best of it

God forbid you had something proper to worry about - like war, disease, famine

Don't seem to see many of the mothers from the SN board posting here nor those who I do see as having real problems to worry about.

For the last time. Rp is clearly nor refering to people who suffer from depression.

fairyfly · 25/10/2004 20:53

aaergggghhhhhhhhhhhhh she didn't say all you with crappy pasts and presents (futures not a very positive step) should shut up

gothicmama · 25/10/2004 20:53

she could but she hasnot and has disguished identity so can only have been out to cause trouble or was Mn trying to gauge opinion(unlikely me thinks)at the end of teh day no-one can know wht makes someone else tick unless they have had exactly the same life experiences in teh same place and time what is water off a ducks back to some is a torrent of water to someone else and think fo a lot the Fl section is either to check they stil exist or to get hope or to pass on experiences and say I have come tho it I hop RP has got what they wanted and if they have faced feeling low they have found their method to cope with it and I hope it's not starting imflammatory threads cos we need more smiles

fairyfly · 25/10/2004 20:54

actually crappy presents are a very good reason to be depressed i know i was last christmas

fairyfly · 25/10/2004 20:54

actually crappy presents are a very good reason to be depressed i know i was last christmas

EvesMama · 25/10/2004 20:54

thats one opinion and im glad you can see it from a different view, but it has also been taken other ways by many. they could always come back and explain, and if they(if it is a they and not a tech??)have also been dealt a crappy hand in life, why upset all those who would try an help them.....its a hoax! its been posted to cause an argument.

EvesMama · 25/10/2004 20:56

i agree with those who said before...lets go, this thread is getting normally friendly posters arguing and causing conflict. those who are depressed will take it harder and more to heart than those on a smooth run.thats why everyones getting pissed off with eachother!

miam · 25/10/2004 20:59

Hmmm. I think this board was intended for those who need support. That may be those who have clinical depression etc. but equally it can be very helpful for those who are going through temporary difficulties and just need somewhere to talk.

Should we therefore only allow those with diagnosed depression to post on this thread? Or should we specify that only those who have been feeling low for over a certain period of time need apply?

RP - I'm not sure what your reasons are for posting, but the fact is that this is a fabulous board - for anyone, under any circumstances to find a hearing ear. Obviously you cope better than some with problems and that is good. But please show a little understanding and fellow-feeling to those who need a place to talk without being talked down to.

Titania · 25/10/2004 21:00

i am stil very upset.....made me think twice about posting when im upset now.......its threads like this that push people to directions they dont want to go.........i am so very very angry and upset...........

JoolsToo · 25/10/2004 21:03

how so we know its a 'she'?

hercules · 25/10/2004 21:05

It seems that rp has been demonised unfairly.

Life isnt always plain sailing, shit does happen to everyone.

Of course it doesnt help to be told to pull your socks up but rp is entitled to her view.

She does offer advice - stop analysing and make the best of your lives.

JoolsToo · 25/10/2004 21:06

hercules - I hear you - but I think you're flogging a dead horse - you're not RP are you

hercules · 25/10/2004 21:08

No! Although I do feel like I am defending her a lot but thats because she or he is not here.

I dont agree all the way with rp but do think it wasnt that unreasonable and could have been a discussion topic.

hercules · 25/10/2004 21:09

Someone made a racist remark the other day and that wasnt removed so I dont see why this would be.

JoolsToo · 25/10/2004 21:11

sshhh! -me too - personally I prefer a gritty thread - and I think some really good debates could be had - but I think the fact that this was posted anonymously has caused the all the trouble.

sportyspice · 25/10/2004 21:12

I am astounded that whoever the 'Regular Poster' is thinks it is ok to criticise people who are either genuinely suffering from depression or simply having a bad day. How is that going to help? Mumsnet should not be about judging people and if the RegularPoster is fed up with the 'feeling low' topic then simply don't go there!!! I feel for all those who have posted on it who now feel they've been kicked whilst down!!

fairyfly · 25/10/2004 21:13

i think removing it would be foolish, it won't change anything, those that are upset will stll be upset, hiding someones opinion of something doesn't mean the opinion doesn't exist. it is far more appropriate to leave it up and hope whoever it was has chance to defend herself. and besides i think that this thread has proved her opinion that people do worry far to much about ridiculous things, this thread being one of them

clairabelle · 25/10/2004 21:13

I have only read the first message but am sat here open mouthed in shock, you ignorant little sod You obviously have not ever felt low or in need of support well good for you but how dare you tell people that have to get a life, I am spitting feathers. All I can say is it's a bloody good job you don't do my job people would be jumping off roofs left right and centre!!!

hercules · 25/10/2004 21:14

Okay one last time. She isnt criticisng anyone suffering from depression.

hercules · 25/10/2004 21:15

She is not telling anyone to get a life!!!!!!

I give up. I need to get on with my life.
I am worrying too much about this thread it is true ff

I need money for this rp! Lots of it!

WigWamBam · 25/10/2004 21:17

I know she's not Hercules, but she chose to post on the depression threads, knowing that depressed people would more than likely be sensitive about her post.

fairyfly · 25/10/2004 21:17

one last time before you go hercules, altogether now
SHE DIDN@T MENTION PEOPLE WITH DEPRESSION

hercules · 25/10/2004 21:18
