I don't really read these threads

I do know that depression is a real illness and requires medical help and I do not wish to denigrate those who are suffering in this way

I cannot help thinking that a lot of these posts stem from expecting more from life than there really is. Some people just seem to want to feel good all the time, and the things that are getting you down are JUST LIFE

I think a lot of you do need to pull your socks up and stop analysing things. just get on with your lives and make the best of it

God forbid you had something proper to worry about - like war, disease, famine

Don't seem to see many of the mothers from the SN board posting here nor those who I do see as having real problems to worry about.

Actually thats why I like mumsnet, the chance to get a really good head-bending discussion going. I like it when I get won over by 'the other side' too.

Can't believe that my post criticising someone smacking her kids or cods posts about spoilt children got totally blasted and yet its fine to call someone a 'worthless piece of crap'!

hmmm, after the last uproar a couple of weeks ago its been pretty calm and what better way to get people talking? my own opinion!

I do agree that some of the responses have been a little extreme, and in fact I think that is probably what the original poster was aiming for.

But please, can we let this die now? If you want to carry on with this discussion, perhaps you could take it to one of the other threads so that those on the FL threads who have been upset by it don't have to keep seeing this discussion at the top of the list of threads. By keeping it here, the flames are still being fanned.

I also think Justine's comment "There is a civilised discussion in there somewhere hoping to come out." is very patronising and a bit big-brotherish 'we are listening and you're not saying what we want you to say'

some people dont want to justify to ingnorant people 'why' they feel there life is so shit and thats why that threads there. yes, i can be a bit depressing reading the stuff...but hey i thought that was what it was about? i know ive posted there and try to help others who do too.so im sorry if we depress you 'mystery' poster and are letting you down, ill just get out my majic wand and make all sn children well again and those feeling low will can have thier crappy past/present/future erased!
