Seeing all these Feeling Low Posts makes me feel like screaming THAT'S LIFE

I'm sorry

I don't really read these threads

I do know that depression is a real illness and requires medical help and I do not wish to denigrate those who are suffering in this way

I cannot help thinking that a lot of these posts stem from expecting more from life than there really is. Some people just seem to want to feel good all the time, and the things that are getting you down are JUST LIFE

I think a lot of you do need to pull your socks up and stop analysing things. just get on with your lives and make the best of it

God forbid you had something proper to worry about - like war, disease, famine

Don't seem to see many of the mothers from the SN board posting here nor those who I do see as having real problems to worry about.

Discuss...

eh kbear? You are what? discussing?

Bellie · 25/10/2004 18:01

Kalex I agree with you - I too have had CD in the past and I have been watched very closely throughout my pg and have been told that I will be watched closely afterwards.
I have not posted on any of the feeling low threads, but they have helped me at times when I have been feeling down and sitting on my own worrying about life.
Mn is a great support and should continue to be for those on these threads

KBear · 25/10/2004 18:03

I don't normally leap in like that actually, more of a lurker but was surprised to read it. I realise now it is probably a wind up anyway so I'm off to lurk some more!!

hercules · 25/10/2004 18:04

I do agree to a certain extent that pills are in some cases presribed too soon but that is surely more the fault of the system than the person.

If someone has taken the time to visit the GP things must be pretty bad (reasons irrelevant).

There must be more appropriate forms of therapy for some people rather than tablets.

I'm not referring to any posts on mumsnet btw as I havent read any!

JuniperDewdrop · 25/10/2004 18:04

Just read this thread think it should be ignored tbh.

hercules · 25/10/2004 18:05

Dh is from a different country and has never heard of pnd and believes that it is very much a western "thing".

hercules · 25/10/2004 18:06

regularposter - if you do want a discussion you have to discuss back.

misdee · 25/10/2004 18:09

This thread probably should be ignored. i know its callous of me but i tend to ignore the Feeling low section of the board. I sufferted badly with PND after dd1, and in a way avoiding the board means i have closure on that part of my life, even tho i culd probably offer a shou, lder to cry on etc, i dont want to as that aprt of my life is over as far as i am concerned, and atm i'm not in teh right place to ffer support, far too much in my own life to worry about. But i would never tell anyone feeling low/depressed/anxious to pul ltheir socks up and get on with life. that is uncalled for. It very cowardly to post udner a different name.

hercules · 25/10/2004 18:11

Oh come on regularposter. Where are you?

fairyfly · 25/10/2004 18:11

hercules · 25/10/2004 18:12

Titania · 25/10/2004 18:12

SO REGULARPOSTER.....IF YOUR CHILD WAS SEXUALLY ABUSED FOR YEARS BY HER GRANDFATHER, PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY ABUSED BY MOTHER/FATHER ALL HER LIFE, HAD 3 MISCARRIAGES, ANOREXIA, AS WELL AS MEDICAL PROBLEMS AND GOD KNOWS WHAT ELSE, YOU WOULD TURN ROUND AND SAY 'OH WELL THATS LIFE'.......I DON'T BLOODY WELL THINK SO.....JUST BECAUSE SOME OF YOU LIVE IN YOUR PERFECT LIFE IN YOUR PERFECT BUBBLE, IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT THAT IS HOW IT IS FOR ALL OF US COS IT DAMN WELL ISN'T.

YOU ARE A COWARD FOR NOT POSTING UNDER YOUR REAL NAME FOR STARTERS, AND SECOND, IF YOU DON'T REALLY READ THESE THREADS THEN WHY THE BLOODY HELL ARE YOU MOANING ABOUT IT? IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT DON'T READ THEM.....IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE IS IT?

YOU HAVE REALLY PISSED ME OFF NOW AND I DON'T CARE IF YOU KNOW IT........

MistressMary · 25/10/2004 18:13

Dscuss? More like Disgust I was thinking.
And you come on here to share your view and don't have the guts to keep your proper user name! pfft.
Sorry I should have ignored this one.

JuniperDewdrop · 25/10/2004 18:13

Yay!!!! Titania

ok so I was still lurking ........

WigWamBam · 25/10/2004 18:14

We should all have ignored this one, Mistress Mary.

Go Titania!

agy · 25/10/2004 18:15

Anyone who's finding it hard to cope should not hesitate to see their GP. Its up to the doctor to decide on treatment, no-one else. Modern ads can save lives. We should be glad they are available.

Papillon · 25/10/2004 18:16

I don´t suffer from clinical depression but I can feel down sometimes. So I am going to rewrite your thread title RegularPoster because if you worried about war and famine more then perhaps you would use your energy in alot more positive manner rather than directing negative insinuations at those who have enough to deal with, without your judgements!

Feeling low makes me feel like screaming and seeing all these thats`s life comments does not help so bug off back to your own lovely life as you are denigrating those who are suffering in this way.

JuniperDewdrop · 25/10/2004 18:18

You put it so well paps!!

Spacecadet · 25/10/2004 18:18

I think its best to ignore this type of " WIND UP" thread having not only suffered from clinical depression but having worked as a qualified mental health nurse I can assure anyone reading this that clinical depression is a very real illness and is no way comparable with the feeling of unhappiness that we all suffer when things go wrong or a general feeling low.People usually become clinically depressed becauese there is an abnormality in the levels of neurotransmitters in the brain, mainly serotonin which can completely alter our way of thinking, yes it is possible to combat mild cases with counselling regular excercise etc but to suggest that people should pull their socks up is just the kind of prehistoric attitude that I was hoping was dying out.Ok I will get off my soap box now!!

gothicmama · 25/10/2004 18:18

does it matter if it helps people to talk and get some hope-
it does not effect / affect your life
so butt out and let teh people who need it to use it
very rude of me really but come on why post this unless you want to upset people

Titania · 25/10/2004 18:19

i was going to add 'if you dont like it then sod off' but thought it might be inappropriate.....

JuniperDewdrop · 25/10/2004 18:19

One positive thing to come out of this I suppose is anyone feeling low is getting a lot of support.

kalex · 25/10/2004 18:20

In the Ricky Lake style :

"Go Titiana, Go Titania, GO Titiana, GO GO GO"

Your words my feelings, come live in my head for a week, then see what you say.

hercules · 25/10/2004 18:20

Perhaps people do expect too much from life. I guess it could tie in partly with how much some people indulge their kids especially at christmas. It gives some kids unrealistic ideas about life. I'm thinking of Dhs brother who was thoroughly spoiled as a child and now as an adult by dhs parents.
He is an alcoholic, hasnt worked for 6 years and still expects overseas holidays travelling first class (which he gets).

JuniperDewdrop · 25/10/2004 18:21

yes but there's being spoilt hercules.... and feeling like shit!
