Phil he's got it into his head it's bad luck to cry on your birthday...
I know what you mean about routines.my lot all need structure otherwise behaviour declines superfast and I'm more lion tamer than mum!!
He's gone off to school with dad.school are offering 2jours instead of 3 last couple of days as more asd end up in unit and it's noisier and more disruptions as some aren't coping with things being out if routine either!
I'm expecting he won't do well last day(Thurs) as it's last day and I've been informed SENCO does become a bit of a zoo then with fractious asd kids coming in hunting for solace or being sent there as need peeling off ceilings!!

I know, DS1 used to roll about on the floor of the mini bus if they went on trips the week before Christmas, but he's 28 and has never been diagnosed with anything neurological.

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/12/2018 08:21

Aaaaand D's is crying doesn't want go to school on his birthday.its going to be a very stressful day I think(both girls up early so he could open presents before they left and tired and temperamental is putting it nicely!!)

Hope everyone's either super busy or on an even keel at moment!!
DS struggled with two hours and is currently looking at his history of magic illustrated book with his dad on sofa having found a trip to Sainsbury's extremely stressful

OP posts:
Philomensapie · 18/12/2018 19:52

But he did 2 hours. Well done! How are you coping zoo?

I had a mega busy day, met my mum in the Sainsbury's café for breakfast, went home, my aunt came with presents, went to the school for the Christmas concert, had hotdogs for supper at school, DD won a huge hamper in the raffle, my aunt went home, did the lantern walk.

DS2 properly overacted in the concert Xmas Grin, he was hyper during the lantern walk, but it was both a very different day and very late for him to be out, his 1 flash point was trying to help with his buttons, which he'd asked me to do. Xmas Hmm

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/12/2018 20:09

Considering so many changes to routine I'd call that a pretty good day Phil

I'm not great.his dad's rubbish Xmas time(childhood memories parents pre divorce) and he's MH spiralling.hes been horrible to me snapping all day.ive had tears as he took D's up to play on Xbox all pm n watch film up there now with him and lil zoo.dd2 and I not included.ive hardly seem D's all day☹️
He works stupid amount hours try avoid things then gets overtired and irritable beyond measure.. booked silly hours til Xmas so be "delightful" on the day
Heyhoo.try and keep out one foot in front of the other.kids need me to

I woke up at 5 when DH's alarm went off, DS2 just came in and was sent back to bed.

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/12/2018 06:02

I'd class that as not too bad Phil

OP posts:
Philomensapie · 19/12/2018 06:09

He didn't get to bed too late, but he still woke up early. He's tired when he wakes up, so he's not getting enough sleep.

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/12/2018 06:27

Has anyone been able to explain why he wakes then Phil?
Must drive you to the absolute edge knowing he needs more sleep but not being able to get enough.my girls(D's much less so) are AWFUL if sleep deprived.kil zoo was late settling day before yesterday and we had tears and shouting in morning.expecting similar today highly likely as dad was here and messing around til gone 1030 .still last day and party for her so might not be too bad thinks my lack of sleep is making me crazy,of course she will still kick up
Sadly if there's shouting gets to D's and he's finding school harder and harder with SENCO getting busier as more of the mainstream asd kids are being unsettled by routine changes and are noisy and disruptive
He finishes school tomorrow

Great news! Xmas Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/12/2018 17:45

how's things Phil*?
DS broke up today.i knew was running late so I rang SENCO (dial direct) and ask them if he'd prefer stay 5mins longer or meet me at end of school road at a pub(by a busy street ) he opted wait at school

He's been very stressed this afternoon, think change routines and my try finish sort gifts etc having less time with him is starting to show...

Philomensapie · 20/12/2018 20:01

Xmas Sad I hope he'll feel better with 2 weeks off school. Flowers

DS2's been horrible all the time he's been at home since last Sunday, tiredness has made it worse. He's in bed at his proper time tonight.

vikingwoman · 20/12/2018 20:52

Hope you are all managing okay - tomorrow is last day before school break.

Zoo how was DS2's birthday? Sorry to hear about DP - my DP has a stressful personality too...at times. Happy to hear you've got a camhs appointment in January! Smile.

Philomena hang in there - how well do you think DS2 will cope during the holidays?

Wishing all a very Merry Christmas (if I don't post before then - but I hope to!) Xmas Smile Xmas Smile Xmas Smile .

Unfortunately we didn't get a spot for DS1 in the treatment/classroom in the hospital. They are semestered so spots only available Feb. and Sept. Very disappointing but the upshot is that DS1 seems to be coming around to trying some sort of schooling again. We're going to have plenty of chats over the holidays. His next psychiatrist appointment is Jan 9.

Philomensapie · 20/12/2018 21:02

Probably a lot better viking, I think he's started masking at school, so the pressure's off when he walks out of that gate. If he doesn't have to mask for 6.5 hours 5 days a week, he won't be that pressure cooker waiting to explode. He's going to my aunt's in January though, so I'll have the fallout when he gets back. Woodland walks at 5pm when he needs 3 hours to wind down.

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/12/2018 21:31

Phil does your D's like wooded areas?my D's adores being in foresty type areas.soothes him,esp in summer months when lots insects to watch(loves watching wood ants beavering away).
Viking lovely to hear from you!I'm sorry that things weren't available for D's.can you try again for the next scheduled intake?it's good he's contemplating education again.not long to psychiatry app!!will Xmas be a difficult time for him?
DS is afraid he's going to "ruin Xmas by getting stressed and upsetting everyone" brings tears to my eyes typing that.poor little fella thinking such thingsSadI'm really hoping he gets on well with the occupational therapist,so much is hingeing on this...

Philomensapie · 20/12/2018 21:43

Apparently so, we're in London and don't have any near us. My aunt took them to build a den in the woods at 5pm last time. Way too late, and we got some horrendous behaviour in the afternoons when he came back. That kind of thing needs to happen before 4pm. I haven't even told her he needs 3 hours to wind down because she won't believe it.

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/12/2018 22:02

Agreed that's not clever as way too exciting/stimulating building a den after 5Hmm

We a blessed to have country side one direction 30 mins walk, town 40 mins other way and at diagonal we have a nature reserve(a supermarket built on old golf course and remit was as small part of mass of badger setts would be disturbed they had provide new setts and move said badgers thus making remaining land permanently protected and open for public to use)and an old railway line track that's now suitable surfaced for dog walkers/cycling and sections can off road into fields and streams it's beautiful esp in summer❤️we are very very lucky as have quite few parks and recreational areas too

Zoo sounds divine where you live!❤️️❤️️
Philomena how long will he be at your aunt's in January?

Came across this website through someone at work. It's UK-based and sounds interesting. www.bigwhitewall.co.uk/
I haven't logged into it but maybe good not only for us parents but also younger people like your son, Zoo ?
