Feeling Overwhelmed - again.

Just that. I am feeling overwhelmed again. Nothing really to complain of and no crisis to deal with, but I feel so overwhelmed and despondant.

Anyone else feeling this way today who would like to talk sympathetically to a fellow sufferer?

NASWM, enjoy your burnt sausages. We had burnt chips earlier - lovely!

No dh is here but although he has literally just this minute walked past and tutted to see the Mumsnet page up, he doesn't really mind being on here (I don't think). There is nothing I want to watch on TV and the children have only just gone to bed so I don't want to follow them too soon.

I am an odd person - I don't drink alcohol, but I am munching Sainsburys mint creme chocolate which I adore. Good for Demnentor attacks as tribpot said the other day.

No no no ladies, do not feel that your problems are less important than mine. In many ways I am lucky, dh and I share the childcare completely so unlike most MNers I have a husband who knows exactly what it's like to take care of a baby, and ds has two parents at home to look after him. (At the moment at least). We had lunch with my bro and SIL recently and I think my SIL was quite awed that dh could speak intelligently on the subject of "days when you spend 90% of your time getting the baby to go to sleep".

Laughing at NASWM's sausages (so to speak), must go and have some dinner soon, it's hard on days when dh doesn't feel up to eating to motivate myself to bother.

I am on MSN it's tribunicia [underscore] potestas at hotmail dot com. I know - I'm sorry! I once explained to my Junie colleagues what tribpot stood for and I don't think any of them could believe I was such an ancient history geek.

DumbledoresGirl · 24/02/2006 20:53

Been meaning to ask you that tribpot - what your name stands for. I am none the wiser!

NASWM · 24/02/2006 21:13

I'm back and I'm now on the chocolate too DG!

DumbledoresGirl · 24/02/2006 21:20

Oops sorry went away for a bit. So NAswm, are you going to find out about msn or do you think dh wouldn't approve?

OP posts:
DumbledoresGirl · 24/02/2006 21:20

Oh and tribpot, can I add you to my list of contacts?

OP posts:
NASWM · 24/02/2006 21:24

Well I have just spent 10 mins tryng to download the damn thing. I though as I had hotmail I wouldhave messanegr. But i cant work out how to do it. Not after half a bottle of wine anyway. I think I will email you. Do you mind? Tell me to go away if you want.

DumbledoresGirl · 24/02/2006 21:32

Please do! I have to say that I got my brother to help me download msn and then later dh and I discovered our other email provider was completely b*ggered up by the msn. I don't know why - technical details are not my thing. But dh was !

NASWM · 24/02/2006 21:36

DumbledoresGirl · 24/02/2006 21:36

Well, I have sent a message to whoever was trying to contact me. If it was you, you should have an orange bar flashing at you.

OP posts:
DumbledoresGirl · 24/02/2006 21:37

Just bring up my message and start typing and click send (or press the return button).

OP posts:
DumbledoresGirl · 24/02/2006 21:38

Whatever you did NASWM was right but I didn't have time to accept your invitation to respond.

OP posts:
DumbledoresGirl · 24/02/2006 21:39

It is OK, msn is totally between the 2 people speaking to each other although you can invite other people to join in too.

OP posts:
tribpot · 24/02/2006 21:39

Yes, please add to list of contacts!

The name literally means "the power of the tribunes of the plebs". In Ancient Rome (before the Emperors) the rich people basically ran the show, but the poor(ish) people, the plebs, had the tribunes to defend them. The tribunes could veto any measure introduced by the senate (that's there the term veto comes from, it means "I forbid"). And also their personages were sacrosanct, so to attack a tribune was to commit an act of blasphemy.

Julius Caesar was voted to be given the power of the tribunes of the plebs (don't ask why, mainly cos people were afraid) so he was granted the title "TRIBUNICIA POTESTAS" or trib pot for short. Hence any inscription with his name on will have Trib Pot after it (and all subsequent emperors too).

So there we are, dead simple really

DumbledoresGirl · 24/02/2006 21:57

tribpot, I have finally inveigled NASWM onto msn and am chatting at the moment. I will do my best to add you in a mo.

OP posts:
tribpot · 24/02/2006 22:00

Okay, please do invite me and I will not tell you anything about Ancient Roman history

NASWM · 24/02/2006 22:03

I did it tribpot. We are chatting now. Know idea whow to get you on too though... Will ask DG hang on

DumbledoresGirl · 25/02/2006 13:31

Just to let you know Tribpot and NASWM that I really enjoyed chatting to you both last night. Sorry if it got a bit heavy at any point. And before you say anything NASWM, no you did not say anything you might regret today! I went to bed on a high and couldn't sleep for ages (very unlike me) as I was thinking about you both.

Anyway, feeling physically shitty today and have to go Tesco shopping soon and maybe might persuade dh to let me go out to cinema later so might not be around today, so I just wnated to leave this little message for you, which I hope you find.

PS I have changed my msn name to DG but my contact address I can't seem to change so it remains the same if it isn't automatically on your list of contacts.

Hope you are having a good w/e.
