Here's a new thread for us.

Wonderful, wonderful news upward! Am so very pleased for you, and sure you'll have the flat looking good in no time, or at least, looking better than the ward. Congratulations for putting up with it for so long, and hope the meds are fixed at last.
Been a bit difficult here today, but will be back later.

Merivel · 23/04/2012 18:31

< dabs tears of laughter >

< hands Nilgiri pot of shodatin's c17th burns ointment >

< pats Dragon for precision waste incineration >

Sorry today has been proving difficult , shodatin < feels helpless >
You are so right that a messy home is a billion times lovelier to look at than a ward , & hope you soon feel settled back in & comfortable , Upward.

Brews , and shodatin's healing mintBrew

< asks [dragon} to tow trebuchet >

Upwardandonward · 23/04/2012 18:34

Cyber fairies sound a great idea, as does a tame rubbish burning dragon!

It took me a couple of hours to remember the thermostat, but at least I did.

Thanks for all the messages, I'm sure it's tidier than the ward already - the atmosphere was very troubled this time around unfortunately.

Here's some more Brew to help with difficult times

OP posts:
Nilgiri · 23/04/2012 18:53

Yikes. Sorry ward was grimmer than usual. Sad

And sorry you're having a difficult day, shodatin.

And more thanks to Merivel for valiant quest for Dragon lair and thinking to bring suitable ointment...

Merivel · 23/04/2012 21:55

Shocked to hear it was so difficult , upward - how miserable & untherapeutic for everyone .
Glad you're settling in back home Smile

Hope you 're not too unwell , shodatin, & are able to sleep a bit at least

< blushes at praise for humbly shadowing St G >

Hope the ointment is working , Nilgiri

shodatin · 23/04/2012 22:00

Hope you're more comfortable now upward, although it will no doubt take a few days to get back to normal. Have noticed recently, people are so often discharged from hospital without any proper provision of care, inc. middle of night etc. but it must be very inconvenient.

Sorry I missed your run-in with the Dragon Nilgiri, great presence of mind to find a waterbutt, but not impressed with beagle's non-violent guarding, whether he was snoring all night or not. Merivel, this dragon's all yours, and I don't want to know about it's lair or whether it will drag a trebuchet, St. George should have finished it off, and had better get himself back here sharpish - well, before midnight - and make sure poor Nilgiri is not attacked again.

Thanks for the Brew upward, which is appreciated as not eaten much today ThanksThanks[thanks ] and I hope what arrives here is huge bunch of flowers for brightening up the flat. So pleased you're home again.

Nilgiri · 23/04/2012 22:34

Suspect the beagle snuggled up to Dragon in his sleep, imagining she was HF - or perhaps beagle-of-his-dreams. His boggling at discovery definitely matched shodatin's canines' shock and awe at the antipodean animals!

Thank you for goaty-toes, Merivel, I think they must have worked as I've been cruising gently today not crashing. Very admiring of you spending your spoons on precious outings with DH. Probably when the mundanities hit you feel guilty, but I'm sure you achieve a much better balance than me.

shodatin · 24/04/2012 00:12

Glad you've had a good day Nilgiri, and spent some spoons on fun rather than the endless chores. Am in agreement that Merivel manages this amazingly well.

Thanks for explaining why we have a guard dog that didn't notice we were being attacked by a dragon, I just hope he's a tiny bit fiercer with any petrol thieves.

Good idea to have an early night, although have had too much dormousing today. Hope you enjoy first night back in your own bed upward, plus being able to get up and eat/drink whenever you like, and that everyone else has a good night.

shodatin · 24/04/2012 09:38

Morning all (Lovely sunny morning here), hope everyone slept well. I'm recovered again today, so happy to make tray of assorted Brew Brew Brew. Was about to suggest that Merivel got dragon to reheat her Brew later if necessary, but see that it's gone, so Nilgiri and brave beagle can relax again for another year.

Upwardandonward · 24/04/2012 12:43

Morning to you too!

Thanks for the Brew, I slept reasonably thanks, and hope everyone else did too.

OP posts:
Merivel · 24/04/2012 13:58

< peeks cautiously to see if St George carried out shodatin's
instructions > Thank you for Brews, Upward , & apologies for
dormousing . So good to see you having had a reasonable night's sleep in own bed Smile Slept well , thank you ( afraid to say after zonking out on sofa again , Nilgiri)

So pleased you're having a better day shodatin, & hope you have some sunshine .
How can I thank you enough for the for the joy your thoughts on the
dragon situation brought me - ( & btw your firm opinions matched what Dh
said when I told him we had a dragon on the loose )

< offers beagle a workshop in non-violent defensive strategies & HF chauffeurs him in time machine >

Thank you shodatin & Nilgiri for positive comments on my life
balance ... am going to keep trying to have little outings as am putting a lot of pressure on myself to improve numerous areas of my life - am so grateful for having some energy at the moment , & Dh has car, for now ... was very different when was restricted by other difficulties , so I feel for those in difficult situations . Really hope we can all have little things to look forward to this spring /summer

< readies nice quiet catherine wheels etc for our celebration >
< lines up upwards favourite musical ensemble for rehearsal >

shodatin · 24/04/2012 17:06

Glad you had a reasonable first night back at home upward, and hope it's more relaxing tonight. Also hope you've managed some organising of people and objects, particularly for food and drink, and can be more comfortable as days go by.

St. George seems to have been and gone - or rather, dragon's gone, which is a relief to some of us (beagle included, who is no doubt looking forward to his proposed workshop, and a change of scene after spending so much time sleeping in the summerhouse and pretending to be interested in being a guard dog). Merivel's DH must have been either surprised about the dragon story, or convinced we're all barking.
It's good you have the car at present, as certainly makes transport easier (and used to be cheaper for two). I'd always planned to give up my vehicle on retirement - one of the reasons to moving to suitable area- but that was when I was fit enough to walk
and I'd be stuck without it at present (and probably have to move again, which doesn't bear thinking about).
Another beautiful day here, with visiting Friend today and DB due tomorrow, as is lots of rain, unfortunately.

Upwardandonward · 24/04/2012 19:13

You sound busy merivel. Wishing you continued spoons for it all! I'm glad you've got visitors, shodatin it is indeed a shame about the rain, it puts a dampener on going out the next few days. nilgiri I hope life is treating you well

OP posts:
shodatin · 24/04/2012 21:11

Hope the flat is back to normal comfort standards now upward, and please let me know if I can send any of the three mints (or other herbs/seeds) for a windowsill during the summer. Also hope you don't have to go out while the forecast heavy rain is falling, and wonder if you've thought of having faster and more comfortable transport than a wheelchair? Just an idea, and please forgive me for not minding own business.
Am looking forward to nice quiet fireworks Merivel, but will need some time to find what's available (like on YouTube). We should have some of upward's favourite "happy" music at the same time, to make it more of a homecoming celebration after so many weeks away, and some of the companion animals are likely to sulk if it takes place while they're away on courses etc.

Thanks for news of your DSis, Nilgiri, who is very brave and determined. My own DSis Skyped last night, at her bedtime, as unable to sleep with dental anaesthetic wearing off after root treatment. I'd been feeling sorry for self before hearing of their problems.

shodatin · 25/04/2012 00:12

Time to say "Goodnight" and hope everyone sleeps well.

Nilgiri · 25/04/2012 00:33

So glad everyone slept OK last night even on sofa.

And indeed hope you're sleeping well tonight, as I've left things rather late again today.Blush

Merivel · 25/04/2012 11:10

Morning , good peopleBrews - no no , Nilgiri - your later posting time
fits in well & is very comforting for anyone having trouble sleeping .

Thanks for Brews- eeek , did you see the health warning about edible
glitter ? People didn't realise the difference between the non-toxic
sort made of plastic , & the safer one that you probably shouldn't eat

Last night my pc started doing another memory consolidating op without warning ,so lost my post & couldn't use net l for rest of evening , apologies

GrinGrin at companion animals being liable to sulk if we start Upward's party without them - so right as ever , shodatin As to Dh potentially thinking we're barking Smile , that wouldn't be like him at all & he's inured to odd company

So fed up for you feeling unwell for so long , shodatin - hope there
will soon be a really helpfulbreakthrough , & any HCPs you encounter
will be so skille d& sensitive that you will feel miraculously less
worried . Hope your poor DSis found a painkiller that worked ..poor thing , I 've always found root canal totally painless

Hope you're not too wiped out after your extra efforts ,Nilgiri , -
& I am beginning to realise you are even more committed to spending your time in worthwhile ways even than I thought , & thatI am a pleasure seeker of the thread < ties on plainest Quaker bonnet >

Been waiting since early for someone to inspect electricity meter- I
think company think it's being tampered with ..ah well , at least that's not the case , but will have a huge back bill now due to previous estimated ones

Thank you shodatin for excellent suggestions for Upward's party - think delaying it a day or two might indeed give her a chance to settle back in & choose here favourite music ! < hears orchestra rehearsing >
Brews

Merivel · 25/04/2012 11:11

Apologies for strange spacing due to pc issues

< gives beagle a treat for effective guard duty >

shodatin · 25/04/2012 15:07

Shame about PC playing up with memory thing Merivel, and hope it's soon sorted - your DH with lolly-stick might be effective?
Sorry to hear about proposed back payment for electricity. We once got boatowner to check our temporary base as had not put money in for a month, and he discovered previous people had bypassed the meter altogether, but luckily he didn';t suspect us, realising it was beyond our technical ability anyway.
Thanks for good wishes Merivel, and will think of you when at GP's surgery tomorrow, all goaty-toed.
Hope all's well with upward now, and that Nilgiri's not over-tired after extra chores and socialising.
DSis sent kind note assuring me toothache recovered, good news as very busy at work at present with lunch on Table Mountain for either 700 or 7000 next month (am useless with numbers; it's a great many).

Nilgiri · 25/04/2012 17:44

Art'noon!

It's a real Incy Wincy Spider day today! There's a poor old duster been out on the line since Monday, and I never quite get it in before the next downpour.

Shock and [impressed] at DSis's lunch for 700(0) on Table Mountain! That'll take quite some organising! And although the mountain is "flat", it's actually all uppity-down rocks (pic 2). How on earth are they going to put tables out?

More goaty-toes for you at the GP tomorrow.

Oh no, hope electricity reading actually results in nice refund, Merivel, rather than back bill, if it's been estimated for ages. I think they have to do safety inspections every so many years, so it's probably that rather than actual suspicions.

And I really don't deserve such praise!Blush Especially compared to all your amazing RL work. I spend my time on my backside, putting off the difficult things I ought to do (like the one I've had right in front of me for three weeks - damn thing will go off the boil if I don't get a shimmy on). Anyway, visitors come first for a while.

Upward hope you've been having a good day, and didn't get washed out of the spout away in sudden showers.

shodatin · 25/04/2012 21:14

Thanks for the photos of the mountain, Nilgiri, have never seen the one from the top, which is amazing.
Don't know how far up they go to eat for this annual "do", have just seen a photo which seemed to be one very long table, and under canvas, so maybe it was raining. The idea seems to be that everyone gets together for a meal, all classes and colours, to raise money for children's charities, and nowadays there are similar get-togethers in other cities as people (and politicians) like the idea. It's called Table of Peace and Unity, and does indeed take a lot of organising (but DSis is good at that...)
Thankyou for good wishes for tomorrow's appointment, as I'm sure they help at these times.
Please don';t say you're doing nothing, it takes so much extra energy if unwell, even managing daily life is a struggle, and it's wonderful you're able to look after visitors too (Took DB to cafe today rather than make even simple lunch, but it's not for sitting around). I don't compare my capabilities to DSis either!

SerialKipper · 26/04/2012 00:36

Ahh, have seen photo now - looks like they use one of the roads below the lower cable car station. Would give great views across the city, and for an excellent cause. And great heavens, yes, let's not compare any cybergardeners to you bionic DSis. Shock

Glad you got out with DB today, and hope you had better weather than down here. DP phoned to say "Squelch," after a day in wet shoes.

Hope Merivel's lolly stick computer is working today. Oh and thank you for alert about types of edible glitter: I've never found an excuse to actually use any, but there's always hope!

Upward hope you're getting back into your own comfortable routine, and not finding the practicalities too demanding.

Nilgiri · 26/04/2012 00:39

Uff. Sorry, Upward, c'est moi. ^^

shodatin · 26/04/2012 09:22

Morning all, and thanks Nilgiri for details of Table location. Shame your DP got wet shoes yesterday, DB's train was late (rain on line?) so missed the good connection and had an extra hour on wet station - what misery this rain can bring.
Don't know how you manage to do so much for us gardeners at the end of the day - excellent spoon management of course - but thanks again for all the refreshments.
Remembering tray of Brew this morning, plus any remaining biscuits left in sealed tin and - for a change- some of my new, recommended-for-breakfast pure orange juice .

Merivel · 26/04/2012 09:45

Morning good people Very sorry for being absent all day - homee things & dormousing .Thank you so much for Brews , biscuits & staggering mental images of vertiginous banquets- love hearing this & will look up this magnificent idea , & table mountain too of course . .Glad your DSis wasn't in quite as much pain , & you were able to see DB , despite not feeling up to usual preparations

Thank you for brilliant posts Nilgiri & trying to reassure us about your life balance ... poor DP , all day in awful squelchy shoes - perhaps he needs those little Japanese water shoes , with adjustable toggles < mean , & hopes he hasn't got a chill >

Will have to catch up later this morning , but just want to send every good wish for your aaappointmment , shodatin , & to say perhaps if you do need adoctior does urge more investigation than y can face , it might turn out really helpful , & Not necessarily a impossible as it seems ? < hopeful>

Love Incy Wincy spider day - another one today here , but hope some sun shines through for us all , especially Upward , who I hope won't be too busy to snooze with us in steamer chair later
