Here's a new thread for us.

OP posts:
Merivel · 26/04/2012 09:46

eek , more typos < drinks more Brew >

shodatin · 26/04/2012 13:01

Thanks for all the goaty-toes this morning, and appointment did go as well as it could, considering, although I can't agree there was any virus involved, at least am authorised to decrease one item and given explanation why nothing OTC would be effective. Am due to update specialist nurse at end of week, and can only hope for further small changes, but thanks again for all the good wishes.
A good morning altogether, with always-late friend arriving on time, then item ordered from internet also arriving, by post on estimated date. Had tried ordering this about a year ago, gave up on webpage and sent letter snailmail, which was never answered, so thought it was worth a try when I saw another supplier on EBay.
The forecast "Heavy Rain" has still not arrived, so am hoping we (and families) can all stay dry today.

Hope upward's flat is now back to usual standard of comfort and convenience, and all continues well with the medication.

Merivel · 26/04/2012 18:49

Aha shodatin, thank you for update- I was awaitiing eagerly , but couldn't post < medal for persistence under difficult conditions > Glad your specialist nurse is keeping up to date & GP gav green light to some adjustment to rtegime , though not surprised you're not convinced a virus may have be part of it . Please don't hold back on telling nurse how much it's been affecting you & for how long ... I like to think there are significant breakthroughs to be made here .

Glad you managed to meet friend as well , & hope you won't have had to sleep all day plus evening

Sending best wishes to Upward, hoping she isn't hideously busy Brew sshodatin has thought of asking you your very favouritr music so we can have a worthy welcome home party for you

Thank you for helpful info on meter safety inspections , Nilgiri- no-one turned up yesterday ! 1 They emailed today asking for a readng , but I never can see it properly < off to commune with the Incy Wincy ones >

Many strengthening vibes for the work you're trying to do , and thank you for totally undeserved praise .. poor Dh , on the other hand , has been working till the early hours but should finally ease for several months soon , with some very busy weeks < cartwheels >

Those communal meals are the most amazing idea- off to find out more

Nilgiri · 26/04/2012 22:49

Eek, MN seems broken tonight.

Nilgiri · 26/04/2012 23:15

Glad meeting with GP wasn't too frustrating, shodatin, and that you'll have specialist nurse to help tweak things. Fingers crossed for small improvements and increased comfort, at the least.

Very impressed that everything arrived on time except the Heavy Rain. But you were definitely owed a break after yesterday being the other way round (poor DB, dripping on station platform).

Hope you've had a similarly successful day, Upward, with enough small victories to keep you going. Oh, and how are you getting on with your new toy, that was waiting tantalisingly for your return? Are you friends yet?

What, no one came to show love and attention to your electricity meter, after you'd prepared yesterday, Merivel? Ungrateful swines! Still, sounds like they're not terribly worried about fraud.

Shock at Incy Wincy meter-reading assistant! I now have this image of a spider pointing a very tiny torch with one hand, holding a notebook in a second and scribbling with a third. While tweaking its spectacles with a fourth.

So glad to hear things may ease for poor DH soon. It sounds appalling that he's working such hours - I do hope he is well rewarded and appreciated by his employers, and not just taken for granted.

Nilgiri · 26/04/2012 23:18

And, erm, what is a Japanese water shoe? Google was not very helpful...

Merivel · 27/04/2012 12:23

Morning good people BrewBrewBrewBrew .
Nilgiri , you win platinum ultra commendation for comic genius - spiders with spectacles GrinGrinGrin

Apologies for obscure footwear , but they are horribly prosaic ... also ,that may not be the correct term for them but they are little neoprene shoes with a rounded ankle opening fastened with a togglLeGrin & ver comfy out of the water

Thank you so much for kind concern for Dh , for which he is most grateful & amazed . ( ditto Incy Wincy fun ) He is tussling with employers for , but no , not a good workplace overall - he can use his talents there & really develop himself & help eople , but calm workplace & healthy balance are elusive there , so..... He's nipped in on his working from home day to ensure his clients are supported through a big occasion < proud >

Really hope you & upward are OK this morning , shodatin < frets>
Oh yes , I forgot to commiserate with DB's horrible sodden journey / waiting , urgh . Hope rain still holding off ... lovely poster on other thread is going to try home soap -making , so I was able to tell her you've had success over the years r

Lots of tasks so must get on - so grateful to have had extra poons this past couple of weks , & wissh them for all of us

< HF hunts water shoe with suspiciously- bobbing toggle >

shodatin · 27/04/2012 12:37

Morning all, I seem to have forgotten to sign off yesterday evening, which I usually do, but it was a tiring day with too much dormousing. I thought the Japanese water shoes were the type with two blocks on the sole, keeping feet dry, but obviously something else. Remember reading once that "Water" and associations usually meant something about sex in Japan, so am becoming more interested in these special shoes. Can quite understand HF with enquiring mind showing an interest, but beagle would only show attention if chewable.
Something else just remembered: there were indeed problems yesterday evening on Mumsnet, at least when I wanted to post, and eventually gave up on idea.
Am just a bit concerned we've had no news from upward for last few days, and hope all is well.

Nilgiri · 27/04/2012 19:58

Just popping in for a Brew.

Merivel · 27/04/2012 21:31

Thank you for Brews and [biscuts] , kind Nilgiri
Extremely sorry , didn't expect top be away so long- went to town on
mainly pleasant errands , but when I returned & saw Dh hadn't got back from work I went to get himSmile , & the ensuing delay as he finished tasks & we walked home through muddy woods took hours - stopped to try to dig up teeny hawthorn sapling of my dreamson roadside Shock but am temporarily defeated< cackles >

Sorry you needed vast amousts of dormousing yesterday , shodatin ...
can you plan any not-too-tiring frivolity soon ?

Good heavens , didn't know that about water in Japanese culture ! No
no no - practical , unsexy waterproof footwear , like these , only
comical - rounded & domed & toggly

Another one hoping Upward is busy rather than anything amiss, & is able to relax & enjoy simple pleasures

< beagle looks at cybergardeners wheedliingly >

Merivel · 27/04/2012 22:12

Ooops , forgot to ask if anyone would like a little violet plant sent by post , using shodatin's clever methods- I know seeds arwe the best way of sending , but they seem quite sturdy little plants ,which I think would like to escape my tender ministrations

shodatin · 27/04/2012 22:53

Thanks for the Brew and refreshments Nilgiri, which I keep forgetting about.

Thanks to Merivel for shoe link, but page isn't obtainable and just too many Japanese shoes to choose, but will have another go tomorrow. Meanwhile, I'd really love a little violet if you don't mind packing one up, it's such a nice idea to share them between us. Is there anything I can send from over-stuffed seed tin/garden?

Where are you, upward? Please give us a wave in passing, just to let us know you're alright - a "Hi" will do if you're short of time/spoons/words/inspiration.

Nilgiri · 28/04/2012 00:16

Hope today was as OK as possible, Upward. As shodatin says, we're always eager to hear from you, even just a wave.

Glad you managed a walk with DH, Merivel. Oh dear about his employers - I had rather got the impression they took him for granted. But good news that he's getting development opportunities out of it - and of course that he is able to be so useful to clients. Did anything come of his chance for a job change, or have I lost track there?

Shock at Japanese symbolism of water for sex! Much more exciting than these highly practical shoes Merivel describes (are they like [[http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/120741495727?var=lv

shodatin · 28/04/2012 00:33

Thanks for remembering name of Japanese shoes Nilgiri, and what a very mixed selection of facts you know! Thanks for night-time tidying too, as shoe would probably not survive being sucked-at all night....
Goodnight all, sleep well (and special thought for upward).

Merivel · 28/04/2012 09:22

Morning allBrews , with upward's magic Brews massive rush so will have topost properly llater-

shodatin · 28/04/2012 11:56

Just an idea:- If anyone would like holly seedling/s (supposedly lucky!) I've half-dozen should be moved out of way and would certainly post safely.
Local friend just warned me of low temperature outdoors, so am glad I can stay indoors, but no rain just yet.
Hope you're being busy enjoying yourself Upward, and not having to deal with any more problems. Brew just in case it helps, having usual espresso myself before starting on food organisation.

shodatin · 28/04/2012 12:33

My favourite shoes on that site are inflatable-ski-type, seemingly for walking on water, wouldn't survive an evening in beagle's bed but might be useful if we have more rain. Didn't someone have blueprint for building an ark not long ago?

Merivel · 28/04/2012 20:17

Sorry to abandon you to keep our thread going so cheerily ,shodatin -I should have been clearer saying I would be out all aternoon - was
rushing .

Grin How right you are about suitable footwear < continues work on Ark >
Must be very chilly where you are , a really cold wind here indeed but temp due to go up considerably over the weekSmile

Am very taken with the idea of a holly seedlingSmilebut only if / when it wouldn't generate really tiring inconvenience < greedy >

Been very lucky to have been able to have a very full day ... started with a wreath laying /memorial event for people who have lost their lives in / due to
work , as part of union campaigns to improve safety record etc . Local TV filmed so my DM was pleased Grin Political stuff in nearby town , lots of new people noticing ,then Dh picked me up & we had afternoon in nearby countryside ... I wish everyone could order a car with chauffeur whenever needed /desired Sad
Dh has found another place linked to an ancestor , & despite being a remote hamlet, is not so far from home- the church is a tiny medieval one with extra sense of history & a male and female face on the wall, looking on / representing the congregation I imagine? What do cybergardeners think , please?

There was the most weathered stone cross there , too , v early medieval & made me think of Robin Hood films for some reason

Hope you are OK , upward < channels deep peace of ancient church and churchyard >

Merivel · 28/04/2012 20:18

Shock so many emoticons

shodatin · 28/04/2012 22:20

Glad you've had such an interesting and productive day Merivel, and your DM must indeed be proud of you.
Agree we should all be able to take time away sometimes, and await car-sharing scheme here as a start.
Could easily dig up couple of holly seedlings right now, as ground will be soft enough after so much rain - usually rock-hard as undisturbed under shrubs etc. Most are still small, 6-7cm, but will no doubt grow better in decent soil. Am assuming just plain green, although there is more than one variety of variegated, so will don spectacles and have a look round between showers.

Many medieval churches have human faces carved in stone, frequently with green-man foliage attached, and some people think it's in memory of older, nature-type gods, including some very rude representations, but have not heard of more convincing ideas, considering there are so many similar faces in the older buildings.

Good idea to channel peace of ancient building and surroundings to upward, who may be in need of something positive just at present.

shodatin · 28/04/2012 23:48

Time for bed - hope everyone has a good night.

Nilgiri · 29/04/2012 00:18

Oh what excellent work today, Merivel. Thanks

And thank you so much for telling us about your fascinating church trip. Neither DP nor I have any idea about the faces on the walls, but he recommends "How to Read A Church", by Richard Taylor, as fascinating and informative. I've only seen the excellent TV series, now on DVD, which might interest all the cybergardeners. It's very calm and well structured, and can be watched in short sections.

Thank you everyone for more plant offers. I think I'm going to concentrate on what I've got for now, though the violets are very tempting. Holly would get too large for us, alas.

Inflatable ski-shoes? Wha? Shock I may ask to cling to yours as the waters rise, shodatin! And what if the beagle has been at them meanwhile?

shodatin · 29/04/2012 10:14

Thanks to Nilgiri and DP for info about the reading churches book, which does indeed look interesting, but having perused index, there is only one reference (Green Man) which I couldn't get to read anyway. I do plan to buy this to add to collection of architectire books, so am happy to have heard of it (watched something else on TV).
The ski-shoes look like fun, but not practical enough to use in emergency (or indeed, after beagle had found them, which he surely would) so am suggesting large dinghy or small ark if necessary, but this area is not yet too wet so not worrying.
It's more worrying that we've heard nothing from upward since leaving hospital - hope everything's OK and it's just over-socialising/shortage of spoons at present. Hope this will help:- Brew and flumps.

Merivel · 29/04/2012 14:42

Afternoon allBlush Thank you for Brews, shodatin
I found Mn was down again around 10PM so went off for a snooze & stayed
till afternoon - hope we all slept OK through fearsome gales , & especiallyupward

Ooooh , thank you both for thoughts on church features ... I did wonder ,
shodatin if the faces were connected to the Green Man etc , as very haunting . Thank you Nilgiri's DP - did see & love the TV series & must get Dh that book !

Forgot to mention that a little before we planned to leave , the record-breakingly heavy church door opened on its own- no one was out in churchyard teasing the visitors - so we thoght we would indeed go as requestedGrin There seems to be an Elizabethan manor house tucked behind this isolated church ,guarded by a spring surrounded by bluebells

Hope your area does start a car-sharing scheme , shodatin - am very hopeful will improve life for so many

Thank you so much for holly seedling- goodness me at you venturing out in ths weather though , & sorry if you already have
< warms rugs & stokes fire > .

I will check violets to see if they can be inflicted upon you & hopefully upon Nilgiri , heh heh - teeny little plants , nicely containable with prettily -shaped leaves attractively arranged .
Don't forget , Upward , when you're more settled there are plently of herbs you can try out on windowwsill - just say which & we hacan send spar seeds to any address for you , & I wll save you a violet in case .

Brews and late lunchtime buffet - HF happy to bring to anyone & may even include waitress service in exchange for extra fuss

Merivel · 29/04/2012 14:45

PS sorry for typos -< needs eye test> and thank you for completely undeserved fuss - these tiny little acts of fighting back are good for mh
