Here's a new thread for us.

OP posts:
shodatin · 30/03/2012 22:11

Must say goodnight now, back in morning. Thanks for explanation hob, and apologies.

Nilgiri · 30/03/2012 23:26

Upward, I'm so sorry it's more than a day or two. You did so well to cope as well as you did around all the hassle with the op. Really hope you get a chance to potter outside tomorrow, and this sunshine holds for you - a friend has been threatening snow...

Very glad that temperature problem seems to have normalised, shodatin, and that you may have a way to solve it in the future. Hope you won't have to test it any time soon.

Shock at cat bringing "prezzies" to beagle to deal with. Though after their collaborative food thefts I really shouldn't be surprised at anything.

How fabulous that you can now get to a gig again, hob! Yy to something special to wear. And lovely that DH is at home even though working.

DP safely here by train, thank you very much for thinking of him. Hope all you petrol-powered folks don't run into problems over the weekend, as the news showed queueing continuing despite the strike being called off!

Wishing everyone a peaceful and healing night's rest.

cityhobgoblin · 31/03/2012 09:41

Oh I knew I sounded too upbeat - I couldn't express myself properly - I know will be some days or weeks Sad So agree with Nilgiri on how incredibly well you managed the op / related appts and dla assessment ( sorry if it was something else ) & .

Lovely shodatin , why the apologies ? when you are kind enough to ask about my news - thank you for remembering & sorry for convoluted reply

Delighted DP got back OK ...almost everywhere round here sold out 3 days ago - told you I live in a non- community-minded area !

< passes Nilgiris DP the snow shovel >

Apologies if absent , busy day < fortunate > Hope we all have as relaxing a weekend as possible , & that you can find some form of distraction , upward - do you feel up to a bit of radio yet ? Really hope side effects bearable .

Brews and espressos - hope your temp fluctuations aren't too bad this morning , shodatin.

< off to check cybertadpoles & hopping things & perhaps even young fish >

shodatin · 31/03/2012 11:21

Thanks for posting everyone, good to have news of cybergarden activities, particularly smaller items.

Nilgiri, our kitten (female) was added to two-pup household for mouse-duties, and immediately sided with them, washing their faces, mock-wrestling etc. simply as part of tailed-trio as they were all so young with no adult animals to supervise, results sometimes surprising.

Postie brought Tax Disc, just in time, so big relief.
Temp. still difficult as seems to slow down brain activity. Today is DSis's birthday, so must try Skyping.

Hope you have better weekend upward, maybe you could go outside with visitor/s? Will be thinking of hob all dressed up for gig, and hope all goes well for Nilgiri with plenty of spoons.

Nilgiri · 31/03/2012 16:32

Ooh, happy birthday to DSis, shodatin. Hope you have enough spoons for call, and strategy in place to say goodbye firmly when you've had enough (I know I'm projecting my own difficulties here).

Sorry temp still causing such a mix of discomfort and fogginess.

shodatin · 31/03/2012 20:10

Thanks for good wishes and Brew Nilgiri. DSis left message for me after dawn departure for mountain trip, so hope to talk tomorrow, then words with GP day after.
Hope you're having happy and relaxing weekend, that hob's enjoying the music and that life is improving now for upward after enough new meds.

Merivel · 31/03/2012 20:52

Hi , it's usual person with rubbish namechange , apologising as haven't been able to send PMs for a good 6 weeks about this sort of thing < creeps back to Geeky Stuff >
Phew , thanks for Brews , NilgiriGrin at tailed-trio and GrinGrin puppy-washing kitten - thank you for bringing delight to this household yet again , shodatin

Happy birthday to DSis - like the sound of mountain visit.
Thank you so much for lovely wishes for gig - is tomorrow - have been unexpectedly busy as extra political things today , ones where every "body" counts - though would have been better if I hadn't gone to buy large bag of raspberry liquorice from store we then picketed < talk about losing track of your targets > Sales of papers sharply rising too
Was trying to have a quiet day in advance of excitement < reaches for nightcap & candleholder>

Aaargh , empathy with trying to end exhausting calls , Nilgiri< ndt stands guard over your phone & Skyping >

I do find shodatin that raised temperature has a massive effect on neurological functions - though I guess that's a whole lot of functions ! < goaty toes for your brainwave to help when you can try it >

Hope upward is not finding the ward environment as horribly stressful as she was dreading , and that staff are supportive - wish we could come and visit < something for upward to be relieved about >

< sets out footstools & beanbags in summerhouse , and lays a medium fire for chilly evening >
< hopes petrol won't be stolen overnight >

shodatin · 31/03/2012 22:19

Hi Merivel, lovely name which rings faint bell - a cheese?
So glad you got supplies before picketing, and hope it was successful.
Don't worry about petrol theft - no-one ever pushes past quietly obstinate beagle on non-violent guard duty.
Thankyou once again for welcoming atmosphere in cybergarden, complete with medium fire, and hope to PM you on Monday with health update.
Have to say "goodnight" - sleep well all.

Upwardandonward · 31/03/2012 22:28

Good night all

OP posts:
Nilgiri · 01/04/2012 01:43

What a beautiful name, Merivel! If you ever get PMs working, you'll find a PM from when I nmechanged, too - and then outed myself accidentally before managing to PM everyone else. Thank you for your political work today, really hope it won't leave you too exhausted to enjoy tomorrow. Blush at inadvertent raspberry liquorice! At least you got in supplies before the picket!

Your words to shodatin about temperature affecting neuro function are very interesting. I find the same - quite stupefying. So sorry you're getting a lot of this at the moment, s, and good luck for health news on Monday.

And shodatin you asked ages ago if anyone had ways to manage black-outs. Sorry, don't have anything helpful to say: I degrade to lumpishness but not unconsciousness, and indeed struggle to sleep when ill - just semi-conscious haze (improving now).

Upward hope you've also been improving, or at least aren't too oppressed by the voices at the moment.

Sleep well all, hope our various busy tomorrows go well.

Upwardandonward · 01/04/2012 09:24

Good morning all. I hope everyone has a good day. It's very sunny here, hope it is as nice where you are.

Brew Brew Brew Brew

OP posts:
Merivel · 01/04/2012 09:36

Ooh thank you for Brew , upward yes , surprisingly sunny here , thank you , & hope you can sit by a window this morning < HF hops onto upward's lap to bask > Sorry not to have said goodnight , & hope night was as peaceful as possible

Ooooh thank you for asking beagle to stand non-violent guard , shodatin ! < deeply reassured >
< produces large tube of arnica for Nilgiri's cyberbruises >

Yes please to the PM , hoping it will be positive news for you but I may have difficulty PM ing back as STILL broken - will ask Tech again when I return from day out , so I can be available if s/he again asks me to do anything to illustrate the problem .
Wonder whether there's any other way I could reply ? I can't think of any way that wouldn't compromise your anonymity . I wonder if as absolute last resort , if PM still not mended, a friend of yours with an email address like mine , without a name in @ , might pass on an email for you ? I think not , really... < incantation for PM to start working >

Lovely Nilgiri , I am ashamed to say I did see your amazingly thoughtful message to keep us abreast of changes , but PM was broken by then and I haven't liked to thank you on thread after your mishap < silly hob >

Sorry to hear you find warm temps affect you in similar ways , Nilgiri. Upset to hear you ve often not been able to fall asleep properly - hope you find improvements ,as I have periodically .
( btw, got confused about shop to picket as they are a new addition to workfare scheme- they're not getting away with it , though Smile)

Bustling about here for afternoon out , but thinking of upward as we all are, and hoping for a positive day
Brews

shodatin · 01/04/2012 11:15

Thanks to both upward and Merivel for refreshing Brews and good wishes. Hope you both have good days, well, I guess Merivel's plans sound exciting, and hope there's an improvement in routine for upward, as well as personal welfare, as it must be so frustrating being in hospital. Beautiful weather here but may have to water containers.

Merivel, I'll PM if I get anything personal, but it will be ok to have just an acknowledgement on this thread in reply , as anything else could get complicated.

shodatin · 01/04/2012 13:23

Wonder if this is suitable time to enquire about previous name, Merivel ? (I was probably wrong about cheese link to present name, so please just forget it).

We didn't teach beagle to guard, by the way, just encouraged it - it was his own idea to discourage visitors, and friends actually got a tail-wag as well.

Nilgiri · 01/04/2012 15:17

Gorgeous sunshine here too. Brew

shodatin · 01/04/2012 16:53

Saw a mention of snow yesterday, and remembered your friend Nilgiri - been beautiful sunny day here too.
Yesterday I potted on some autumn-sown annuals (hoping for double California Poppies in cream colour), two lovely big pots of J.I.No 2, and this p.m. when I checked, found what looks like seedling-pulling-out, probably by "tame" blackbird and/or mate seen earlier this year. I really thought they'd be big enough and tough enough to survive, but have brought them into garage to hopefully re-settle. Nearby pot of limnanthes seedlings were untouched, can't imagine why, and before I forget, the Eryngiums are all looking good and strong and are now probably safe from S of Doom.

shodatin · 01/04/2012 22:36

Hope the musical event was as good as anticipated, Merivel, and that you're now able to rest up after busy weekend.
DSis phoned earlier to describe her wonderful birthday but I remembered about finishing call before exhausted, so thanks to Nilgiri ( and ndt for being on guard).
Hope upward had a decent weekend, despite being in hospital, and that life is easier with meds working.
Actually, best part of evening was watching TV for an hour, so hope others found some entertainment too.

Nilgiri · 01/04/2012 22:40

Oh what a shame about the seedlings, shodatin! Do hope they survive. Is anything ever safe from Slugs of Doom?!

Still very impatient to see how your lovely Eryngiums turn out here. My garden is weeks behind the neighbourhood because of all the shading, so they haven't grown much though still green and happy.

And I thinned my snowdrop bulbs a few days ago. Would you (or anyone else) like some? They'll go in the compost, else. But of course you found wild ones in your garden, so those may be better.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow, and wishing you all the best for any news you may get.

Merivel (still loving that name), hope your gig today was wonderful. Bet you'll be shattered by now, but sure it was worth it.

And thank you so much, I'm sleeping a lot better at the moment than I have been. A thing to be thankful for...

Hope Upward's day has been as good as possible - and thank you for much needed invigorating morning Brew.

shodatin · 01/04/2012 23:20

Would really love some snowdrop bulbs Nilgiri, as there are actually very few in my garden, and hate thought of composting, but must insist on sending something for postage. Glad the sleeping is improving, by the way, as it's so important for following day.
Thanks for making night-cap for us; will have last few minutes with herbal steamer before going to bed.

Nilgiri · 01/04/2012 23:31

Och don't be daft! After you lovingly packaged and posted actual leafy Eryngiums for me! Will try to get into the post this week.

Off to bed here, too. Hope we all sleep well tonight, or at least get good refreshing rest, and that all is quiet around Upward.

shodatin · 02/04/2012 09:57

Morning all, another beautiful, sunny day. Still feeling shaky, but had reassurance and further help planned from GP after phone call, so situation improved here.

Hope you're feeling better upward and can maybe get outside while sun's out, and best wishes to other favourite cybergardeners Merivel and Nilgiri.
Makes tray of assorted Brews, cool drinks, etc. and shares last week's last scone with beagle for guarding our petrol supplies, ie pottering around cars and looking important.

Ooh, Brew! Thank you!

So very glad you've had reassurance from GP, shodatin - and promises of further help. That's so good.

More sunshine here, too.

Grin at beagle pottering round and looking important!

shodatin · 02/04/2012 11:03

Original beagle used to do just that - as man at level crossing once said, he always seemed to be on an important errand, "I'd say "Morning Beagle", and he'd say "Ain't got time to talk to you Freddie, I'm busy right now" - this was back in the day when animals could be free to roam on private land (at least on Norfolk riverside). Although never actually talked as far as I know...

Merivel · 02/04/2012 11:26

Grin at proud beagle Thank you for Brews & for lovely mossy nest for lond sssssleep today , Nilgiri
All these lovely posts - so sorry didn't say goodbye before setting off yesterday - was having usual minor PC problems but was getting late fotr departure so had to leave it

Aha , shodatin , than you for message and I believe my reply has actually worked ! First time in about 2 months < baffled > Dh reinstalled something aat weekend , which must have fixed it .
Oh I am relieved that GP is trgoing to sort out a sosme more help, & was giving some reasurance .

hoping you have supportive staff. Please do ask for an advocate , upward- are you worried about the doctors not liking it ( I 'm sure you know they'd support an advocate ) ,or is it all too much to deal with at the moment ? Would really help you .

Ah , name is from a favourite & well-known book you may well have read ( much -panned Hollywood film too that we still haven't got round to watching - this household is a dozen years behind with some tasks )- Restoration by Rose Tremain ...very fond of Quaker character in it , shodatin , Merivel's intensely earnest best friend & conscience

Gig was incredible - small nightclub instead of huge venue , & well-ventilated so sort-of able to cope . Have changed opinion of artist , who had started coming out wiyth dodgy opinions (not Morrisey , Nilgiri !) & has changed mind if not the audience's Avoided old "friends" there . Managed to visit Hogarth's House , which we'd always wanted to see (free! open late afternoon! ! and have peaceful stroll round Chiswick Gardens, before band - heaven .

Woke on way backto find dh swerving onto hard shoulder- he'd managed to avoid a deer on empty motorway ! she canterd off into freezing niight < celebratory Brews >

< collective stern look at blackird & other potential digging persons>
