Welcome back, TIANC !

I'm sorry, I'm having a bit of a rough time at the moment - appreciate the thread, even if I'm not posting.

shodatin · 24/08/2011 16:43

Poor you, upward, been doing so well, I wonder if it's been a bit too much?
Hope you can put feet up and relax - try this new Brew, rooibos tea with Morrocan mint, supposedly refreshing but non-caffeinated (and useful for people who forget tea-times)

Congratulations on ears, hob, and hope you'll soon feel the benefit. Your new GP surgery seems first-rate, am so pleased for you. And thankyou for your compliment, don't deserve it.

Upwardandonward · 24/08/2011 17:55

I don't thihnk I want my meds reviewed (code for increased, I think). I really want to get through this blip without massive doses.

shodatin · 24/08/2011 20:56

When is the review due, do you know? Is there anything you think could be reduced at that time? I don't think they can actually make you increase dosage, but it might be useful to have a temporary increase, just for the most difficult times, if this would be possible (don't know enough about dosage).

Upwardandonward · 24/08/2011 21:48

It'll be when they have time/ad hoc next week (as for the first 2 days I'll still be going to the day services). Still, no use fretting as that wont change the outcome.

Upwardandonward · 24/08/2011 22:05

I'm also wondering if I should keep going to the day services...I don't think I want people making notes about me at the minute. :(

cityhobgoblin · 24/08/2011 23:38

Evening good people , and sorry you're having an extra hard time , upward . Just got in so will rack brain to try & come up with anything vaguely useful , but shodatin has asked all the importaant questions . Ah , I do have one question you might possibly like to consider , upward , but it's probably better left till tomorrow .

Really hope you sleep well & same for all of us.

You are incredibly aware & thoughtful , shodatin , whether you agree or not Smile Thank you so much for taking an interest in my baby steps towards getting a sensible standard of care . Hope you 're feeling a little more recovered from evil bug ? Oh yes , I keep seeing the fabric pattern you 're working with , the one that's come back into fashion , in the shops .

Been fortunate enough to have had another nice afternoon , meandering around a local museum & historic buildings during dh's time off < brews us all medieval sleep BrewBrewBrewBrew >

shodatin · 25/08/2011 01:15

Upward, they're only making notes to be helpful, and I realise you're probably feeling a bit sensitive, but I don't think the notes are a bad thing at present.
Could you manage a few more attendances, do you think? Am remembering all the people who would appreciate the opportunity you have with day-care, and that it might take a bit longer to be beneficial/enjoyable.
Sounds like a good afternoon, hob, but probably a bit tiring physically.
Thankyou for the [brew}, and I hope everyone has a good night.

ThisIsANiceCage · 25/08/2011 01:49

So what's nice about being away and having a healthy break from everything, is coming back and thinking, "Wow, look at this amazing thread with all these lovely people, wise words - and rather good refreshments!"

Upward sorry the last few days have been rough. Very impressive that you made it to the day centre at all, especially if you're feeling a bit scrambled at the moment. They sound a nice bunch.

Understand completely why you don't like the note-taking, btw. But I think shodatin's right that medical notes probably aren't a bad thing at present.

Hope tomorrow's a bit better, and this blip wears off fairly quickly.

ThisIsANiceCage · 25/08/2011 02:14

Am well impressed by all this architectural enthusiasm! Of course, you're smack in wool country, aren't you, shodatin? Sounds fabulous.

Ditto hob's medieval meanderings. Glad you got good weather for it. Such a contrast between sharp, bright sunlight and cool gloom as you go in...

Our own trip gets a definite tick, btw! Much better than I'd dared to hope for, and I got out for at least a trundle round the block on most days. So thank you for all your strengthening vibes beforehand - that and the cyberflask saw me through.Grin

shodatin · 25/08/2011 10:13

Am so pleased you managed to get properly involved in the trip, TIANC, and certain it was good-for-you, altho we missed you here. Looks like time for refreshment again, my turn to hand out (brew} Brew Brew Brew and please help yourselves to the biscuit-box (filled with chocolate variety which I have instead of pudding).
Hope today's a bit easier for you upward, day-centre or not, and that you're able to relax at some time.

madmouse · 25/08/2011 10:20

Just crashing in with a day-brightener!

mousling has been fitted with splints and trying hard to get used to them. Walking is difficult but

HE STOOD ON HIS OWN FOR 6 WHOLE SECONDS THIS MORNING!!!!!!

And he was really proud of himself. But then was laughing too much to releat it.

Just thought I'd share that Grin
As you were Grin

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 25/08/2011 10:25

Excellent! That's made my day :)

shodatin · 25/08/2011 17:12

Just read your post, madmouse, and thankyou for sharing. How marvellous that mouseling's able to manage the splints; bet he was really excited at standing alone today (and probably planning excursions already, bless him) - it's really good news.

cityhobgoblin · 25/08/2011 23:18

< cartwheel emoticons > at mouseling ' s momentous day & his being proud of himself Smile Thank you madmouse . Wouldn't mouseling be surprised if he knew how he delights all we strangers .

Sorry for sleepy silence today . Thinking of you , upward & am so sorry if I sounded dismissive last night - was just sleepy & it came out wrong . I too would be stressed by being watched out for in the way you describe , but agree with shodatin & TIANC that it's likely to be helpful at the moment . Would caution you against stopping going to services at the moment , as that may well be viewed as you having symptom of increased depression or paranoia Sad & while you're at the day services the staff can see that you're participating at least somewhat , rather than totally withdrawn .

Re : the drugs review , the decisions you can feel able to make may be more restricted if you're on a community treatment order , so if that's the case I will assume you're being fully informed of your "responsibilities" as set out by the order . If not , it's actually quite tricky to know whether the team might be wanting further compliance as a sign of your commitment to recovery Sad but you sound as though you've been trying incredibly hard with that so I trust they'll take that into account . You are so right that fretting won't change the outcome : really hope you feel less anxious & more supported soon . < thoughts & prayers >

Glad you managed to out a bit TIANC & hope your mind & spirit feel revitalised by the trip . Funny you should mention the cotrast between the bright sunlight & the inside of what was coincidentally a huge wool warehouse .

Yes , love a bit of peering at architecture - www.heritageopendays.org.uk/architectural - heritage week coming up shortly . Some of the little tours book out months in advance but hopefully there will be something happening near you .

Hope we all have a peaceful night - bit cloudy for stargazing here but our cybersky is always clear & sparkling with stars

shodatin · 25/08/2011 23:58

Thanks for link to heritageopendays, hob, had forgotten those. And the stars.
Hope you're soon re-energised and able to enjoy the holiday ( and similar wishes to everyone else incidentally).
Off to bed soon, so hope all have a good night.

ThisIsANiceCage · 26/08/2011 02:55

Oh madmouse that's fanTAStic! Grin Grin So good.

hob sleep sounds much needed after after such delightful days out - and all that cartwheeling Grin. Hope naps are refreshing and don't just leave you feeling drained, as day-sleep sometimes can. Thank you so much for mentioning the heritageopendays - will definitely keep an eye open round here.

Upward hope your day has gone as well as possible. Did you get the incredible rain and lightning that was around this afternoon? Was about to say the rain missed here, but I've just heard the plinking begin on the metal chimney cowl.

Upwardandonward · 26/08/2011 14:31

You didn't sound dismissive, hob - question about what? Hope you had a good night, shodatin and madmouse (hope mousling has AFOs rather than callipers).

TIANC , lovely to see you again! If the rain wasn't too bad yesterday, today it is tipping it down...walked home from the hospital, and hoping my carer turns up soonish so I can get out of these wet clothes.

Staff sat with me and worked out a structure/plan for the next 3 days, and they've given a copy to the crisis team who will possibly schedule in phone calls/remind me to take meds. I have put the crisis team's number on my phone now, still not sure but never mind Confused

I think I'm starting to see why people say they get more support via the crisis services than as an inpatient.

shodatin · 26/08/2011 14:46

Hi upward, Have I understood correctly, that you've actually walked back from the hospital, rather than wheelchair, I mean? Does this mean you're improving physically as well as mentally better? I'm really pleased for you anyway, even if I've misunderstood that you normally use the wheelchair.

Sounds good that you've been able to have a discussion about the next few days, and hope it goes well for you. I remember asking for a reminder to take my evening meds for the first week, just because that's what I needed with the blackouts, and sure enough, someone managed to phone me, which was a weight off my mind at the time and much appreciated that I could ask for help.
Hope you come to feel the same way, and have good people helping.

ThisIsANiceCage · 26/08/2011 15:19

Ooh, hope you'll be out of those wet clothes soon! It's not warm today, either.

They do sound well-organised, this support team. How very sensible to have the reminder calls. shodatin I'm impressed you've had that as well.

Upwardandonward · 26/08/2011 15:34

No, shodatin , it's just the turn of phrase I use (I don't like roll or wheel because that suggests I'm pushing, and drive isn't quite right either). Apparently when very unwell I was insisting I didn't need the chair (I got lots of qus when I used that turn of phrase to CMHT recently).

In warm clothes now, which is good.

I'm hoping the contact does help.

shodatin · 26/08/2011 17:56

Well thanks for the explanation, upward, must admit I was getting a bit excited there, because of the great leaps forward (figuratively)! I should have realised you still needed the chair, having to wait for help with clothes change.
Am not surprised you decided you didn;t need chair while in hospital - I can just imagine that conversation, knowing how very logical and strong-willed you could be when an idea took hold and remembering how you were managing without the chair when you'd decided to leave - we were all very worried for you at that time as you seemed to be fearless. (Hope it's not too tactless to remind you about managing without the chair).

cityhobgoblin · 26/08/2011 20:45

Good to see you upward & very glad your carer wasn't longer - you must have been frozen . I can see why you say "walk" - other words don't fit . Hmm , how about " to whirr " no , too smooth .. Thank you for saying I wasn't tactless . Am still trying to unscramble brain to see what I asked you in that earlier post , that you then asked me about , sorry Blush

Think the plan for next few days sounds potentially helpful & I really hope you find it useful . Glad you found the help you describe , shodatin , at a difficult time.

shodatin , how are you feeling today ? Yes TIANC , not only was shodatin struck by a very sudden vicious bug , the symptoms were scary too - sorry shodatin , please forgive me , but you're too modest to say what a shock you must have had .

Hope you do find a heritage open day event , shodatin & TIANC & all of us Smile. Enjoyed our communal stargazing before sleep .
What a gorgeous phrase *TIANC, about the rain "plinking on the metal chimney cowl"

Sorry still not visiting very often , days rushing by this week ,& thank you for kind wishes for rest .

Really good to hear you sounding so dynamic , upward , no pun intended < foolish hob >

madmouse · 26/08/2011 21:29

upward - yes, AFOs Smile

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 26/08/2011 23:12

shodatin , as hob says, I hope your bug has gone - I agree that it sounded nasty.

madmouse , that's good, they're easier for walking (JMHO, may be biased as I've only ever had callipers).

hob , you can only do what you can do, especially if lots of things are busy.

I hope everyone mentioned and otherwise has a good night.
