I agree with hob about Kids Company.

cityhobgoblin · 12/08/2011 10:42

GrinGrinGrin at individually - signing bees , TIANC . I can really picture them putting in the extra effort to sign their names with a flourish that . How lovely to have honey produced from plants grown in DP's home soil .Smile Agree they're likely to be clever than us - I get a feeling of something rather fearsome & impressive from my local bees ...

< sniff sniff > You are the loveliest people & the best company I could imagine for upward as she assimilates her recent experiences & looks to the future . Really appreciate your kind words shodatin & TIANC but don't deserve them & must be more concise < Your kindness this week has made me feel much cheerier about tiring few days ahead

Thank you for explaining about the team ,upward - glad you have th econtinuity , but of course you're finding your feet with each other . Hope they provide great support in your determined efforts with adjustment & acceptance the pace of your recovery

Oh shame about the ISS , shodatin ( I forgot to look again last night too . The Sky at Night last night showed a picture taken by one o f the astronauts on it , showing parts of the ISS - perhaps you can see it on the net / i -player

Am feeling more confident about HCPs , thank you so much for helping me with my v long - held ill - feeling ... Am sorry you don't get a euphoria - inducing dose on the NHS Grin Hope the dose is adequate for the pain , though ? Sad It's usually a stubborn problem to be seen at a pain clinic ...I know you hate to grumble .< humbled >

Aha , thought you 'd be a fan of Kid's Co , TIANC - really addressing the roots of troublesome / violent youth behaviour. Another one I like is Quaker Alternatives to Violence , working in schools etc.

You are so quick - thinking on the political threads , which must be v hard for you energy - wise when even reading can wipe you out . Really believe sites like this influence members so I think it's a frontier of the battle < pompous Smile

Hope kizzie has been able to take the necessary time for herself to deal with her anxiety problems , & that madmouse is taking her time trying to recover her strength after her bad time .

Upwardandonward · 12/08/2011 15:21

I hope you're having an okay day, TIANC. shodatin , hob , madmouse and anyone I've forgotten, hope you're having good days. It's a bit overcast here today.

ThisIsANiceCage · 12/08/2011 15:35

Grey an' 'orrid here! Got the lights on and am on bed, surrounded by brightly coloured folders MNing sorting out material out for trip.

Have bitten the bullet and cancelled some of our archive bookings, so at least I won't be putting too many other people to trouble if I'm ill. I actually don't care if I'm sick as a dog all week as long as DP has a great time, but as hob says, him struggling with my research notes will be... interesting.

Will snooze now - in nest of highlighter pens and stationery!

cityhobgoblin · 12/08/2011 17:04

Grey with a cold wid hereSmile, upward . Having good day thanks , still up to ears in prolonged spring cleaning / maintenance . Hope you're not quite as wiped out today , & you have a small treat or nice pasttime to reward yourself for your achievements this week .

That sounds really positive , TIANC - so pleased you're going to see if you can go in some way . So sorry you had to cancel some of the bookings but very thoughtful of you & am sure karma will operate .

" Me , me , me " again - one of our happy holiday memories is of me accompanying dh on a work trip & having to hibernate in the Travelodge due to illness , stranded by an industrial pig farm in miles of eerie flat countryside . It was really cheery & romantic because so silly . Hope you can improve on that !

cold w i n d Smile, sorry

cityhobgoblin · 12/08/2011 17:52

oh my , sorry once more Grin

Upwardandonward · 12/08/2011 21:22

The word pictures of bees are good - I've not been close to a swarm in recent years. I hope the spring cleaning progressed ok. Today's treat has been the internet, although I'm struggling to see how I spent so much time on it. I also bit the bullet and looked up the calories for the past 37 days....

Coloured folders and stationery sounds productive, TIANC !

shodatin · 12/08/2011 21:37

Hello upward, and congratulations on getting the internet organised - am so pleased for you. Hope you're feeling better today too. Don't worry about the calories, you know now how unimportant they are.
I spent today with DB so I'm exhausted both physically and mentally, and he might feel the same, but we're both agreed it was worthwhile.

Really enjoyed the posts about the bees, and I hope you enjoy the honey TIANC, in fact I hope everyone can enjoy some serious relaxing this weekend.

Upwardandonward · 12/08/2011 22:45

The calories are important unfortunately. The MH meds I'm on are linked to weight gain, and I need to lose it as it is... I hope you get some relaxation over the weekend.

madmouse · 12/08/2011 23:02

upward the weekend it all went bad for me they gave me some quetapine to calm me down. It worked but I read the leaflet and it said weightgain. I groaned as I'm already far too heavy. My dh who would like me a bit lighter (for my health's sake) said 'I'll buy you every galaxy bar in the world if that means I get you back'

One thing at a time. Mental health is priceless. Although I know your medical situation is complicated and weight will no doubt have an impact. But be gentle with yourself xx

Marvellous news that you've got internet again, Upward. Good luck with getting slowly and steadily to your ideal, healthy weight.

Btw I finally harvested the courgette (singular) and fried it with garlic as you suggested. Yum! Thank you for that!

shodatin sorry you're so wiped out, but glad it was for such a worthwhile day. Hope you get to rest and recoup tomorrow.

hob what a bizarrely wonderful trip! How fab that it turned into a romantic nest in the middle of nowhere!

Not sure if I'll be able to post for the next week, so can I wish everyone a restful weekend and really good week. Look after yourselves, all.

shodatin · 13/08/2011 00:14

Hope you have a good week, TIANC, and that the energy's sufficient, but I'll really miss hearing from you while you're away.

Sorry you had the extra problem with weight madmouse, DB told me about his own experience with one of the drugs but he's now philosophical enough to believe it's only a short-term problem, as I hope it will be for you and for upward.

My weight control system means just eating less, on smaller plates usually, which works slowly but surely (as long as I remember).
Wishing everyone a good night and a good weekend.

Upwardandonward · 13/08/2011 09:08

I just think I'm more likely to be compliant with meds long term if I don't put on weight with them. I am being gentle with it - writing down everything I eat and adding it up much later, so it's more like measuring/recording calories than counting them (so I suppose it's a bit like the smaller plates idea shodatin uses). It also helps me not to undereat.

I'm glad the courgette was nice, TIANC , and that your time away goes well.

shodatin · 13/08/2011 10:28

You're right upward, and it's rare for the HCPs to take weight gain into consideration when prescribing, which is not helpful for anyone with tendencies to depression. Hope it's working for you anyway.

A dull day here, with a few dull chores lined up, including sorting the Youcam system, oh dear me, but necessary for imminent Skypeing. Hope others can have more fun, whatever the weather.

cityhobgoblin · 13/08/2011 17:19

Fingers crossed you've been able to set off all right , kindly clucking TIANC , & that your thermos of trusty cybertea will sustain you . Brew to revive you shodatin after exhausting day yesterday , & Brewto refresh you ,upward - how are you feeling today ?

Your weight management system sounds very measured & sensible , upward . It's a very intrusive thing to effectively ask your patient to put up with struggling with their weight Sad isn't it . I believe the antipsychotics actually increase appetite ? My health condition causes feelings of extreme hunger ( or mimics them Grin) & the only way I can manage it is by eating lots of protein ( am still able to stay veggie ) and do the GI approach , with foods that release energy slowly .

Impressed as ever with your repairing work , shodatin but is that a challenge too big even for you ? Hope not & you can Skype happily.

Hope you have a good , if busy , weekend , madmouse , and that kizzie has had a calmer wee k . Hope you're doing OK , butterpie - I saw you say you were wrriting a fair bit , very interesting .

Loads of maintenance / spring cleaning today but fun too a dh is joining in enthusiastically . Still not streamlined enough to please letting agent , I'm sure < boxes of books fall on top of hob >BrewBrew

shodatin · 13/08/2011 20:15

I'm sure your spring-cleaning will make a big impression on the letting agent hob, and will be worth all the time it's taking. Will you be able to take a break soon?

The YouCam thing has defeated me, combined with the BT emails about my non-dial-up system and non-existent Outlook Express but luckily a friend has offered some help in the coming week. There is still the mystery of where
umpteen MBs have seemingly evaporated, according to same friend and DB, who know I can't do photographs, videos, films or even music, but this will require some expensive intervention when I can afford it. Sorry to go on about it, but have wasted too much time on this laptop.

Upwardandonward · 13/08/2011 22:51

TIANC , I hope you got away safe with enough spoons. hob , your cleaning efforts sounds
Herculean (although I'm sure it's better than the Aegean stables). shodatin , I really hope your friend can sort out your laptop for you. High protein sounds like an interesting way of doing things.

shodatin · 14/08/2011 00:49

Upward, it does sound an interesting system to use high-protein to help with weight, particularly a vegetarian version, so I plan to ask Hob later.

Meanwhile, hope everyone sleeps well and has a relaxing weekend. Night-night.

cityhobgoblin · 14/08/2011 00:58

Argh, just missed saying goodnight to you , shodatin . Hope you're sleeping peacefully , upward. Am GrinGrinGrin at Aegean stables .
Not grinning one bit at your awful laptop troubles, shodatin, & wish I knew more about these things ... it doesn't sound right at all .-

Still toiling - thank you both for your encouragement - but looking forward to bed ... as TIANC would say < slumps headfirst into keyboard >

Upwardandonward · 14/08/2011 10:41

I hope everyone had a good night - I didn't randomly wake up in the night, which is good.

Here's some Brew to get a lazy Sunday started

cityhobgoblin · 14/08/2011 12:29

Delighted you had an uninterrupted night , upward . I had nightmares about house cleaning Grin. Dh is still laughing after I told him what you said about the Augean stables , & longs for such a solution to wash away the mess .
Hope you have a little treat lined up today ( & every day ) .

shodatin , hope your Skyping is fun despite lack of camera . Wish I knew something about this subject ... is there no hope at all of redress from the manufacturers ? You've had the opinions of repair persons on that . I 'm sure , but I'd go to the CAB if even vaguely in doubt , or consult a consumer website at least .

I'll join with upward in wishing us all a lovely lazy day . Glorious sun here with fresh breeze .Thank you for Brew .

Upwardandonward · 14/08/2011 17:41

Sorry to hear about the nightmares! I hope the cleaning's continued ok today hob

I hope everyone's had a good day.

cityhobgoblin · 14/08/2011 18:52

Thank you so much for taaking an interest in my whinges about trivialities , upward - sorry BlushI'll have to see how badly I "fail" the inspection to see whether it needs further efforts with the garden & maintenance . < fancies a rest >

How are you feeling today ? Any letup on the daytime sleepiness ? If you 're up to watching a bit of TV on your new internet , I really recommend a not - too- long Italian light comedy on BBC 4 at 9 : 10 tonight , Mid- August Lunch , if you haven't seen it .

Hope shodatin is having a day of leisure & that TIANC is able to enjoy her break . < waves to kizzie &madmouse >
