Glad you've had a good day, shodatin, with or without brain!

The no-memory thing is a bit scary, isn't it? I have paper and pencil-on-a-string on the noticeboard, so I can jot things down if I can remember them that far. Makes a big difference, but doesn't help with forgotten conversations.Confused

Good day here too! More woodwork painted in the study - I do love visible progress! But where's our sunshine? Or honest to goodness rain? Can't be doin' with this perpetual louring grey.

Hope mouse family had a good "weekend" today. Haven't asked about mouseling's physio recently; hope that's still going well despite him having been under the weather.

hob hope today has been restful after your frantic busy-ness!

snowmash thinking of you today when I was moving the scented plants around.

kizzie, Pixie and friends, come sit round the chiminea and have a Brew!

Sleep well everyone, hope we all have good rest and wake bright and refreshed tomorrow.

cityhobgoblin · 18/05/2011 13:05

Morning all , yep , very grey here too TIANC, yet no rain for plants. Good news about your solar panel & progress with your woodwork & so happy to hear your progress over the past year . Hope not as drained from good works as I fear you will be - what an amazing thing about your DP and his cousin finding connections through genealogy < sniff sniff >

Condolences at horrors of memory problems - istances like that must be very unsettling , shodatin , & Grin at brains sunning themselves - mine's playing gooseberry to yours . I don't always manage to remember to write down my reminder , before I've forgotten it ....

I'd have chosen that new vacum , shodatin ,, & you're greener than most people who would have assumed th existing one couldn't be repaired .

Hope kizzie , madmouse and pixie are well
Thanks for large , soothing chamomile tea , TIANC - very busy again yesterday , but very enjoyable - made some new friends this past year , who I'm thrilled about. Sorry I fell asleep again as soon as got back , so didn't say goodnight.

This afternoon I'm off to meet my Mum to see my Dad's newly - erected headstone - he passed away many years ago but we've only just been able to get a stone , & the mason put it up before ringing to say so , which makes me wonder if he doubted the result ! Really hope the colour , lettering & design I preferred haven't turned out too garish & so upset my mum.

shodatin · 18/05/2011 15:12

Thanks for your view on new vaccuum hob, am still in two minds as it's such a strange little dolly-sized gadget but same (1400) max as previous full-size. It probably takes off and hovers until half-full, or makes 95-decibel noise, but will see when I have time for a trial.

Hope all is to your satisfaction when you see the gravestone, and that your Mum is satisfied with it too. You were right to take time over it I'm sure, as I still remember the stress of trying to get it right and in an acceptable material.

madmouse · 18/05/2011 16:30

Hi all sorry been madly budy

Thanks for all the thoughts and wishes - the confirmation was wonderful Smile

LOL at mousling being looked after so I could be in contemplative frame of mind! More like rushing home after morning service, giving dh a break after presiding over said service & pastoring after the service - finishing off roast dinner shoved in oven before church, have an unexpected friend to visit, dress up, race off back to town as needed to be in church for 4.30 to rehearse with bishop....and that was all before the service.

Service was beautiful and felt very loved and surrounded by my dh, mousling (yes he was there, being good for 2 whole hours!!) and 4 of my closest friends, who have supported me through a really rough few years.

Mousling doing well in physio thank you to whoever asked. We've just been cruising round all the furniture with him holding my hand and holding on the furniture with the other hand - more progress!

Hope you're all ok xx

busy even!!

OP posts:
shodatin · 18/05/2011 17:14

Lovely to hear from you madmouse, and so pleased all went well on your big day, although a bit hectic it seems. Congratulations due to mouseling for being good for such a long time, although I.m sure he found it genuinely interesting!

Good news about the physio, and hope DS enjoyed the furniture cruising and not too tiring for either of you.

cityhobgoblin · 18/05/2011 23:11

Sounds even better than I'd expected , madmouse , especially dh , mousling & dearest friends being with you & feeling surrounded by love . Didn't think you'd get peace & quiet , but that was exceptionally hectic .
Excellent news about mousling's progress - & as for 2 hours of quiet , it must be as shodatin says , that he was fascinated .

Grin at shodatin' s " hovers & takes off "
Dad's stone looks brilliant , thank you so much , more tasteful than I feared & not on the wrong plot , as my Mum had expected ! . It's a massive relief as you'll unfortunately know customers don't always get the best service from stonemasons - so sorry to bring back sad memories , though I know you try hard to be philosophical . You put it so kindly & tactfully about taking time over it , & in fact we wouldn't have got the right wording if we'd done it any earlier.

My Mum was startled by an ambulance siren & managed to apparently scrape a parked car in pulling over, & the owner rushed up being aggressive , but fortunately Mum was trapped in car by volume of traffic till very rude woman was persuaded to pipe down , & there was no visible damage , phew.

So sorry for worrying you about your memory , shodatin & will recheck as promised in a bit . Oh yes , have your tomato seedlings made it safely to May ? My 1st time growing from seed (!) & I love the way tiny recognisable tomato leaves emeerge so early .

Hope TIANC has had a good day & was able to achlieve either a little more visible progress , or enough rest to fuel some . Lots of plump cyberfledglings around now , which can sometimes be found sitting haplessly on the lawn sunning themselves as cybercats look on - fortunately cyber parent birds are watching too , & sound the alarm.

Our thoughts are with you as always, snowmash, & hope you're gradually feeling a little better. Hope you have some pleasant company in there , though of course no one there will be feeling up to their normal standard of wittiness .

Peaceful night to kizzie, pixie and friends of snowmash's thread.

Sorry for essay Sad ... little & often

shodatin · 19/05/2011 00:08

Glad the memorial stone meets expectations - I remember the difficulties well.
A neighbour arranging one for her husband was impressed by the kindness and understanding of the stonemason then shocked by the bill for his time. One is vulnerable in this situation but my memories are no longer upsetting thanks.

Sorry for your Mum's little accident but glad you both managed to stay calm and cars were undamaged - could have been worse of course but horrible to be yelled at. Some people seem to enjoy being dramatic, unfortunately.

My tomatoes did go in too early (and home-made cloches blew away). They do look a bit strange but half have flowers so I'm hopeful. Hope all yours are doing well and that you have a good harvest, now that's the exciting bit for me! When I first grew them from seed, a friend told me to tie them to a metal support with metal ties, as they benefit from electrical charge during storms, and I do have better results this way. Best supports are old brass stair rods if you find any, altho I'm using one pruned branch per three plants with metal wire under each plant when set out, using a tripod shape. Sorry for so much waffle, and you probably have better advice too.

shodatin · 19/05/2011 00:11

Apologies to everyone uninterested in tomato plants - had not noticed the time (and still uncertain whether snowmash has any interest in gardening).

Good night all, and sleep well.

ThisIsANiceCage · 19/05/2011 01:03

Oh how wonderful, madmouse! Sounds like a lovely gathering and service after all the haste and bother!

at your hovering hoover, shodatin. You'll have to keep us updated now - maybe post here before and after switching on, so if you're sucked up we'll know to dial 999!

And you are leading me into gardening geekdom! I have a (bought) bush/tumbler tomato plant, and now cannot resist uniting it with some of my post-electrician copper cable collection. All in the interests of science, you understand! Grin

hob, so glad you and your mum were please with the headstone. It's one of those "closure" things for a lot of people, I think?

Agree, cyberfledglings definitely more successful than RL cat-chased birdies. Although I don't fancy the cats' chances against these chicks.

snowmash hope today was as good as possible for you.

Definitely time to say good night, and wish you all refreshing rest and a good awakening.

to kizzie, butterpie and friends.

shodatin · 19/05/2011 11:04

Thanks for that link to nestlings TIANC - amazing what we can see now.

Lucky you with copper wire, have been hunting around for some to go round pots and dissuade slugs, but never tried this. Slugs/snails have to be desperate to eat my tomatoes, but ornamentals suffer so worth a go. Try it, then you can be next year's geek with tomatoes.

Just a bit worried about hoover-thing, so delaying switch-on until I have witness/helper to do phoning if necessary as I'm not very brave.

A beautiful morning here, washing is out and plan more gardening. Good weather for painting too, or is all yours indoors? I used to really enjoy that ,
with husband joking he had to keep moving or I'd change his colour too.

Hope snowmash can enjoy lovely weather outside ward, and that life is getting more enjoyable.

cityhobgoblin · 19/05/2011 18:40

Evening everyone , so sorry for absence again. What a vivid picture of you fearsomely wielding the paintbrush , shodatin , & hope you enjoyed some gardening today . Incredible susnshine here again - hope everyone's had a taste of it , especially snowmash .

Thank you so much for your fabulous tomato tips , shodatin - sorry for causing you to worry about too much gardening talk potentially boring the other good people of snowmash's thread - everyone knows it' s my fault . I actually didn't see your post till a moment ago , so sorry for delay in thanking you . I ' ve not heard a single one of those ideas before, & I can't wait to see how I get on .

Sorry your cloches came down - was about to moan about the high winds today damaging courgette plants , but am in an easier growing climate than you ... good going for you to have flowers already.

How hateful of that stonemasosn to take advantage of your friend like that - preying on the vulnerable merits Trading Standards / police investigation - if only the ripped - off people felt up to reporting it Sad . Maybe the current government & charity leaflets on arranging a funeral could say more about it .

What a fabulous nest of formidable fledglings , thank you TIANC, & I'm sure snowmash will enjoy it if phone permits . I love the way p falcons have these stern expressions combined with stripey trousers . < consults thesaurus more closely so can vary vocabulary >

Ooh yes, have always meant to try the copper wire method , so please tell us if it works . Tomato tumblers look so luscious . Hope you're having a good day .

Hope kizzie, madmouse & pixieare well & that snowmash has found some reasonably nice tea on offer.

shodatin · 20/05/2011 00:13

Wishing everyone a peaceful night, and hoping to hear from snowmash again soon.

ThisIsANiceCage · 20/05/2011 01:40

Indoor painting at the mo, shodatin, tho I was eyeing up the repaired render outside today. Need more round tuits... But the garden lures me from my duties. Grin

And, ahem, DP is also pretty scared to stand still. Bumps in wallpaper have also been mentioned. Blush

hob that's it! What a perfect description of the peregrins! Will never look at their stripey trousers quite the same again! Sorry you've had garden damage tho - do you think the courgette plants will recover?

snowmash hope you had better weather. A bit of faint sunshine here today, better than the eternal grey but not enough to cheer about.

Hope everyone has had a good day, to kizzie, madmouse, butterpie and Pixie clan.

Here's a bedtime BrewBrewBrew, everyone, and night night to you all.

shodatin · 20/05/2011 12:58

Morning all - and a sunny one here once again. It seems a shame not to be gardening or painting while we have the weather, although your DP is probably eyeing up you eyeing up the next painting job, TIANC.

Hope we're all having a good day whatever we're up to, and snowmash,, it's one day more you've accomplished in the hospital therefore one day closer to going home. Hope you're feeling better by now too.

cityhobgoblin · 20/05/2011 17:19

Hi everyone - sorry for lateness - marathon sleep again , but still able to fit in fun activities. Glad you had sun shodatin & hope you enjoyed some gardening - cool & cloudy here Envy , & v windy .

Hope you have indeed been lured from your duties TAINC ..what is a round tuit ? ( I'll look it up if yo haven't time to explain but rather hope to hear it here )
Thank you , courgettes will be fine , but aubergines pretty battered . Thought of you when saw gleaming white moon in the night - most unearthly .

Thinking of you snowmash , & hope the weekend has some distinct features to alleviate the more tedious aspects of the routine.

Hope madmouse, kizzie & pixie are well and not too busy for a rest on the cybergrass.

shodatin · 20/05/2011 22:14

Hi hob, guess you needed to sleep if you were looking at the moon in the night. Is it a regular insomnia problem or just occasionally awake? Glad your courgettes will survive - I bought one today (short of space now). I well remember the first time I saw a round tuit... and will let TIANC explain.

That's a lovely wish for snowmash; may I add more wishes for a good weekend, and hope to hear from you again soon.

So pleased I gardened this morning, as I got rained on this afternoon while in town, bit of a surprise.

ThisIsANiceCage · 20/05/2011 22:56

Heh heh, I'll explain when I get a round tuit, hob Wink . And I'll put those photos up when I get a round tuit, and repot the plants when I get a round tuit...

Sorry you missed out on sun today - hope you get a bit tomorrow. It does sound like you need that sleep, may it be refreshing and reviving so you can carry on with your busy, busy days.

Ooh, sun and rain sounds fab, shodatin (tho not getting caught in it). Your garden must be singing!

Tired after busy day gardening here (hurray); DP now here for the weekend and, as you say, looking nervous when I go near paintbrushes. Grin

Can I add my wishes to all the rest for a good weekend and bit of variety for you, snowmash.

And good weekends all round, I hope, for everyone in the garden.

Night night all, sleep well!

shodatin · 20/05/2011 23:58

Thanks for getting out deckchairs, have forgotten how they work.
Didn't someone decide on steamer chairs all round in our cyber-garden? (very unreliable memory here).

And it's good night from me, hoping everyone's OK and good weekends due.

cityhobgoblin · 21/05/2011 10:37

hubpages.com/hub/Gary-Larson BlushBlushBlushoh my , I'm so dim Grin Grin Hope cartoon not offensive , just an old fave
Thank you for braving the shed for us , TIANC !
Yay indeed at day gardening TIANC, & hope you & DP have a lovely weekend . < dabs arnica cream on pinched finger >

Think that's right about the steamer chairs , shodatin, but TIANC 's found extra seating for the outdoors , saving posh cushiony ones for the nice clean orangerie..

Thank you shodatin & TIANC for "asking after" about my sleep - definitely therapeutic & sorry for worrying you with my nocturnal wanderings , shodatin - not insomniac, just moongazing whilst trying to get to bed after falling asleep on sofa again Blush . Thanks to your very kind wish TIANC , I did get lots of extra sleep last night & feel revived for a slightly nerve racking day - hark at me moaning again . Garden so sunny and tempting...

Glorious , glorious sun here , so hope we all enjoy some of it today, especially snowmash
Hope madmouse, kizzie & pixie* & have a brilliant weekend Brew BrewBrew

kizzie · 21/05/2011 14:37

Hi everyone sorry for being missing for last few days. Had very little access to computer.
Hope everyone ok.
shodatin haven't forgotten about twitter - will try to send you a pm tomorrow.
Off to see lovely neice in a sec who is 21 today :-)
Was dull here this morning but glorious sunshine now. I've been feeding my grass this week - looks very parched xx

shodatin · 21/05/2011 21:25

Hi kizzie, was thinking about you just last night, and remembering I'd said no hurry about Twitter - not had time to look into it either, despite it being in the news.

Am relieved I no longer have a lawn, but am sure your feeding system is worthwhile (and of course our cyberlawn here is always just perfect and just mown).

Thanks to hob for some very funny cartoons, and I linked to a few others on same page, which was a serendipitous surprise. Hope snowmash managed to see them too for some light relief.

cityhobgoblin · 21/05/2011 23:24

Evening all , hope everyone has had a good day , especially snowmash - imaginatiive in my greetings aren't I - will try to be more imaginative

Thank you for looking at the cartoons , shodatin - dh & I always say "school for the gifted" at silly moments like round tuits.

Hi kizzie , you're reminding me to sort out our balding lawn (I've been too mean to buy more grass seed yet Blush ) . Has your rhododendron cheered up , or is it too early to tell ?

Hope TIANC is having a good weekend & madmouse, pixie and friends of the thread are well.

Had a lot on today , lots of positive plans for community action , & the one rotten bit was cheered away by dh driving us to a beautiful bay where we ate our tea watching people float about on parachutes with seats attatched ! ( says she technically )

Hope for a peaceful , moonlit night for all

cityhobgoblin · 21/05/2011 23:29

Sorry for one too may "imaginative" s there

ThisIsANiceCage · 21/05/2011 23:33

Sleepy weekend here, so just popping in v quickly to say goodnight. Sorry, will catch up properly in day or two.

Take care, lovely people.
