So good to see you snowmash !!! What painful spring months you have had - sorry you have had to draw on your reserves of courage for so long ... even yours aren't limitless . So relieved to hear you are on the road to recovery & hope you'll eventually find your way as you gradually become fitter . It must be very hard at the moment .
Please , please don't be Blush , no way - you are inspirational.

Roof work sounds exciting shodatin - hope workmen continue in their industrious ways .
I was mullng over your wise but very poignant thoughts on whether this thread was stressful for snowmash , wondering how to respond , when I saw her post ... so I know you'll be delighted to see her & encouraging her as she gradually recovers .

Your work this week has been very influential TIANC ( vast numbers of lurkers here too , taking note of your warning ) and I was more worried about the toll on your physical health , so was sorry to see it's v disturbing. Even from a relatively uninformed point I find the issues terrifying in several ways .

Blush I'm not the clever genealogist in this house - I worded it as I did because ironically dh is very careful about online details Grin & wasn't around to give permission . Hasn't it been astounding the past year or two , having all the extra resources come online .
To help you recover from your work on your current thread , I think you should do a new one offering to link a few Mners up as the not - so - distant cousins they surely are . You might have to limit it to 3 posters or something (& charge handsomely )

Hope kizzie madmouse and pixie have a good Saturday

Goodnight all, specially snowmash

cityhobgoblin · 14/05/2011 09:40

Morning all , especially snowmash ! Hope everyone has a pleasant day ( original , aren't I )

shodatin - PM' ing you with TIANC's thread location , in case it's a terrible breach of etiquette to post it hereGrin
Need to be away for the day so will see you all later Brew BrewBrewBrewBrewBrew

cityhobgoblin · 14/05/2011 09:41

oops - that apostrophe , sorry

shodatin · 14/05/2011 23:20

Thanks to hob for information about TIANC's thread -v.interesting, and thanks to TIANC for the warnings.

Been unable to have internet connection until this evening, which felt very strange, and my three experts were/are baffled. Am back just in time to say "goodnight" to everyone, and hope we all wake refreshed in the morning.

ThisIsANiceCage · 15/05/2011 01:18

snowmash! How very wonderful to hear from you! Here, have a Brew!

Not so wonderful that you've been so very unwell. Sad

But really, really good news that you're on the (long, hard) upward track now. Bloody marvellous!

ThisIsANiceCage · 15/05/2011 01:45

Thanks for so much positivity about that thread, hob and shodatin. I find it far too paranoia-inducing to want to link to it from our lovely safe cybergarden! (Irrational, I know! If anyone wants a PMed link, just ask.)

hob, thanks also for your (absolutely correct) concern for my physical as well as mental health. Exhausting to process that much info. But. Great for moral to see my new limits; I'm so much more capable than this time last year. Hope your busy day's gone well.

shodatin I see your fixed roof and offer in return a working solar panel! Bloke came a few days ago and I've been checking it nervously ever since, but am going to bravely declare it Fixed. Hurrah!

snowmash saying hi, solar fixed, DP here for the weekend. Life pretty good!

Hope kizzie, madmouse, butterpie et al had good days too. I think madmouse's confirmation must be almost due. Best wishes for it.

Nightie night, sweet peas!

madmouse · 15/05/2011 08:32

It's today - I woke up at 7am with knots in my tummy. And I'm not due in church until 4.30pm!

Well there is the normal service with mousling's Sunday school first, that will help.

Mousling is now really all better from his virus btw and is eating to catch up. Nursery handed him to dh on Friday stating 'He should not have to eat again this side of Monday'. Grin

snowmash · 15/05/2011 09:35

Good luck for today, madmouse

Glad that mouseling is feeling better!

Morning all and hope everyone has a good one.

shodatin · 15/05/2011 10:30

Hello again snowmash - Lovely that you're back with us and I've really missed you. I do hope your life gets easier from now on, and you do deserve a prize for all you've been through.

All best wishes for today, madmouse, and it's really good news about DS.

Good news about your solar panel TIANC, such a long wait for you I'd forgotten about it! Sigh of relief at finally getting stuff fixed, and hope you can relax a bit today and recover physically too.

Am so relieved to have resumed contact with snowmash and internet contact too - it's a good day here already.

shodatin · 15/05/2011 17:10

Hope all went well at confirmation service madmouse - at least we know you were beautifully dressed for the occasion, so hope it feels good.

Hope you managed a relaxing day snowmash, with some interesting and considerate visitors for the weekend.

I had another internet "out" and still baffled by cause, so glad to be able to post again. Am thinking of copying snowmash and getting a modern phone as back-up (but would really rather have a shed next)

kizzie · 15/05/2011 18:01

snowmash what a lovely lovely surprise to hear from you - made my day Smile

madmouse hope youve had a wonderful day - sure you have.

I'm a bit slow on the uptake (!) but are you all talking about family trees. I did mine 2 years ago - got totally obsessed with it and absolutely loved doing it over a few months. (Obviously ignore me if youre not talking about that at all!!!!!!)

shodatin · 15/05/2011 20:28

Hi kizzie, isn't it lovely to have snowmash back, and after such a long time. Good to 'see ' you too,I was thinking the other day that I would very much like to have your help in starting to Twitter - seem to be missing a lot- so whenever you have time available I'd be grateful for a PM on the subject.
Hope things are going well for you, and life is satisfying .

Yes, everyone but me was discussing family trees; something else I've yet to get round to and again, happy to know more.

ThisIsANiceCage · 16/05/2011 00:53

^ "Great for moral." "Morale", I mean, "morale"^. Please, if anyone sees my brain, can you post it back to me? One careless owner, bit bashed in places...

Meanwhile here's hoping madmouse's day was a wonderful, memorable one, filled with blessings and light. Congratulations on your confirmation!

And that the rest of us had good'uns too. Did absolutely nothing here - it was great! Grin And there's a huge shiny moon out there tonight. So bright! Must be casting shadows in the garden.

Night night, sleep well everyone, and hope we wake rested and refreshed tomorrow.

shodatin · 16/05/2011 10:34

Morning all. Last I looked, the final message was from me, and did not stop to say goodnight to myself, so thanks to TIANC.
Had not even noticed "morale", so guess brains have eloped together.

Yes, I was thinking of you madmouse, and hope all went well for you.

Hope life is still improving for you snowmash, and you can see end of tunnel.

kizzie · 16/05/2011 16:25

Hi shodatin - of course will send you Pm on Twitter. Only prob is that for some strange reason I cant access PMs on the computer Im using at start of week - but will send in few days. Will send suggestions of people you can follow too - to get you started with a few interesting people.

kizzie · 16/05/2011 16:29

Ps. TIANC - Ive woprked out what your other thread is. I DREAD to think what is there about me. Been on here for yrs and yrs and yrs .....

Really glad its proved to you how much you have improved Smile

shodatin · 16/05/2011 17:53

Thank you very much kizzie, I would be very pleased to have some assistance, and no hurry at all as I'm actually years behind rest of world.

Hope things are going well for you, and that you have something to be satisfied about at the end of every day. I don't think you have anything to be worried about regarding the other thread - I remember asking at least one very silly question but not hing important to discover otherwise.

cityhobgoblin · 16/05/2011 19:27

Evening everyone and miserably sorry to have been away yet again - went to a family wedding on Saturday , then a work exhibition with dh , & other commitments mean I haven't drawn breath in between, except to snore long & loud ( incredibly grateful to have had energy surge to be able to do it). So happy to see snowmash here again , & hope today was OK for her.

Many congratulations from here too , madmouse , & hope you weren't too nervous . Was mouseling able to be there , or was he looked by Church friends after Sunday School so you could be in a contemplative state of mind ?Smile

Could your internet outage be an area problem , shodatin - we suffer local ones & I'm not too sure what the supplier's latest excuse is. ( Ooooh, I think I'd get the shed ! Harder to get a reasonably - priced shed than a bargain internet phone , I reckon ) Has your roof work been completed ?

Glad you enjoyed your wildly hard earned loaf around , TIANC after your vital work. Love it when the moon "shines " into garden / bedroom - casting is the right word . Hope you're feeling OK

kizzie, you managed your family tree over just a few months ? Can picture you in a frenzy of microfiche (s?) . It's an amazingly exciting activity ,shodatin, you'd love it , & I reckon it's a good way to honour your ancestors who got us here.. .. Do you have any favourite ancestors , kizzie ? I think TIANC will now tell me that disclosing any genealogy details online is risky - quite recognisable , I'd think ?
Will PM you with a few suggestions for you to start with when you get the time , shodatin , if TIANC hasn't suggested them already of course ...hope you "click " with historical writing styles quicker than I did (n't) !

Hope pixie clan OK & that snowmash got some palatable dinner tonight.

cityhobgoblin · 16/05/2011 19:31

Blush sorry shodatin - after the Twitter suggestions from kizzie, obviously < over caffeinated >

< hands round herbal Brew Brew BrewBrew Brew Brew

shodatin · 16/05/2011 20:39

Hello again hob, glad you're not too exhausted after the weekend.

Not an area problem this time; it could be a loss of power at main plug, but have now re-secured it and await clever ideas from helpers. At least I learned to do system restores, which were much easier than communicating with BT.

Roof was finished same day thanks, with 20-year guarantee plus extravagant admiration today, so I got a good quote for garage renovation and installation of shed next month. Am grateful for your advice re ancestors, but will get back to you later if you don't mind as just too much going on at present.

cityhobgoblin · 16/05/2011 23:53

Thank you shodatin - beeen very lucky this week with energy .You sound very good with repairing things things - I remember your vacum & gate . Hope you soon know cause for certain .
Fab about roof , brilliant . Very pleased to hear about good quotes - are they on a council or charity list of "approved" work people ? I don't know the specifics of the schemes some areas have .
.
Hope you have a peaceful night , snowmash .

The moon is so blurry here , TIANC . I must look up possible causes (says she unromantically )

Good night kizzie , madmouse , pixie and friends

shodatin · 17/05/2011 00:20

Goodnight all and sweet dreams until morning, sorry can't stay awake.

ThisIsANiceCage · 17/05/2011 01:40

Heh heh, shodatin do you think our brains are sunning themselves together on a beach in the Caribbean! Will they come back to us when the honeymoon's over, d'ya think?

Wow, hob, Shock at how much you've been up to. Hope the wedding was lovely, and you're now catching up with your very well-earned rest.

Sounds like lots of us have caught the genealogy bug, sometimes by proxy! Another one really impressed you got anywhere on your family tree in mere months, kizzie. I've been at it for maybe three years - the perfect hobby for keeping one's feet up (no microfiche for me!).

And yes, this is how I realised how much public internet info there is about us all. Mind you, family research has had profoundly positive effects on DP and his newly-found cousin: neither knew another living soul with their surname (apart from their own children); now they have each other plus a vast hinterland. It's been life-changing in subtle but important ways.

Hope madmouse and snowmash have had good days today, and a bit more sunshine than we had here.

Sleep well m'hearties, wishing us all serene sailing tomorrow.

shodatin · 17/05/2011 22:02

Hello TIANC, and thanks for image of brains going AWOL for a break; it could explain a few things, like why I have no recollection of contacting someone a few days ago. What's really worrying is that there could be other occasions I don';t yet know about, so, have decided not to worry at all because I've had a good day and this is a lovely relaxing evening.

By the way, my vaccuum cleaner was making odd noises (seems I didn't fix it properly earlier) so I took it to local shop who quoted me forty-odd pounds basic plus a lot more if it needed a new motor, and showed me the last of a new range for £29. Memory kicked in - a friend had told me about buying one of these, so I decided to have one too, and maybe get another repair quote later. Wish I'd had one of these little ones when I had stairs, and glad I have it as a spare, although probably not very green to buy new and cheap.

shodatin · 18/05/2011 00:37

Maybe someone will be along later, but I'm off now, so goodnight.
