snowmash's cybergarden

We filled up your thread, snowmash! So here's another one.

Neither weather nor circumstance seems to be cooperating at the moment, so I thought we could do with a virtual garden to sit out in.

shodatin has started work already:
"we don't lose anything to the frost here, and nobody thieves our daffs and precious bay trees. Most days will be sunny I think, but sometimes we have rain at night, particularly when we've done some planting..."

And I think it needs a summer house with a chiminea or the like to sit round after dark and toast our tootsies.

Sleep well. Sending warm, strengthening vibes for tomorrow.

Goodnight snowmash and everyone else, hope you sleep well.

snowmash · 03/04/2011 22:34

Thoughts//prayers up to 5 pm much appreciated as I don't know what will happen when.

shodatin · 04/04/2011 09:33

Wishing you a good day snowmash, with enhanced understanding all round, and good morning to everyone, hope you're sharing our sunshine.

ThisIsANiceCage · 04/04/2011 10:12

Morning all. Thanks for that sunshine, shodatin - it's arrived here bright and warm!

Hope everyone has had some decent rest, and today proves a good day all round.

Thank you so much for sending the Get Up and Go Fairy, too! I think I've had a sprinkling of fairy dust while I slept! Not going to rush around tho; slow n steady, etc.

showmash thinking of you even more than usual today.

So, inspired by you lot, we went to the garden centre yesterday.

So today I get to gloat over 6 strawberry plants and a proper terracotta strawberry planter - with sort with cupped holes round the sides - to keep them away from the slugs and old diseased strawberries.

Also a huge pot which will soon be home to a very tiny, slender bay tree whip. And a sodding great chain. Grin

(very late ) morning all! Thinking of you, snowmash .
Good news TIANC , and hope pixie's DD has a good day in / out .

Sorry not to have said goodnight , snowmash - impromptu snoozing .

Still Grin at Isaac Pennington on MN , shodatin . Those words really move me - we know snowmash is trying so , so hard to conquer her fear and I hope the team put positive steps in the treatment plan this week to help her not have to rely only on intense effort . ( not just meaning meds , talking therapy outdoor time etc too)

(since I was the one who mentioned Quakers in the first place ,shodatin being more measured & keen to draw others into conversation rather than ponce about like me ) , I'd like to mention that Meetings are for people of all faiths or none )

Hope you do get a decent explanation of what they're requiring of you , snowmash , and a chance to talk more about the meds.

cityhobgoblin · 04/04/2011 12:12

Oooooo, a gorgeous planter ! The slugs of this spring are ginormous , so you chose well . Strawbery plants are very hardy and amusing . As for the well - protected infant bay tree , we know all too well how coveted they are ( hope that person - sorry , not sure who it is - has gardening consolations this month).

cityhobgoblin · 04/04/2011 12:15

Sorry TIANC, I see you have already had slug - ridden and diseased experience of growing strawberries
< off for more caffeine >

Brew Brew Brew , anyone ?

ThisIsANiceCage · 04/04/2011 12:48

Ooh, Brew!

DP is a keen fantasy gardener, Pixie! He's always suggesting stuff, like the Moorish fountain and robin. Tho he did ask whether our star-gazing involved Prof Brian Cox joining us under the warm rugs. ShockGrin

Hmm, pics would show up the rest of my RL slug-infested jungle garden... Fortunately I'm let off till at least Thurs, when the carer can make up a bin of potting mix (little does she know what joy awaits her!).

Hope Little Pixie feels up to a trip outdoors. And that snowmash gets one too.

Hi TIANC, glad to hear about garden purchases. A strawberry planter was my very first container purchase, long ago, and presently has self-seeded "creeping campanula" in all the holes - usually admired and I don't mind as the birds (and slugs) kept getting the strawberries. Really hope you have better luck -or more vigilance- than I did. Coincidence department - today I bought my replacement bay tree, still very obviously a cutting... Hope very much that yours are safe, by whatever method (no experience here). Also hope GUAG Fairy stays around and whispers a warning now and then, like Brew from hob, excellent idea, thanks I will.
I don't normally mention religion at all, but was so pleased about hob, then noticed the IP quote on my desk when snowmash mentioned fear of meds so was moved to share (as we do!) Hoping the fear does "fall on a sudden" snowmash and you can take whatever is necessary for your health today.

cityhobgoblin · 04/04/2011 14:04

Grin imaginative TIANC'sS dp ! Too imaginative [ shock]- Prof Cox - I'd be outta there !

'Twas surely a form of ministry , shodatin ! Creeping campanula is beautiful & the sort of casual look I like . I find some of the flowers suited to rockeries make an extravagant display in containers which I can move about to disguise the gaps in front garden where nothing will grow ! Very easy to look after - I find the seeds in multipacks in (southern) cheapie shops .

All thinking of you , snowmash

ThisIsANiceCage · 04/04/2011 15:57

Time for more Brew, I think. And BiscuitBiscuitBiscuit.

shodatin · 04/04/2011 17:10

Good idea TIANC, while I sit quietly and think of snowmash, hoping her conversation regarding meds goes well.
After that, I might sit and think about Professor B.Cox joining us to star-gaze, wonderful idea from your DP, why didn't I think of that for our cybergarden?

Hope people managed to enjoy being out and about before rain arrived - the sea was almost blue this morning but will have reverted to usual grey by now.

cityhobgoblin · 04/04/2011 17:52

Thanks for generous snack , TIANC
Glad you enjoyed the sunshine , shodatin - no rain here yet , still very bright & wildly blowy .

Oh my , if we have Brian Cox in , our cybergarden will be overrun with MNers ( which would be fun if they weren't all clamouring for the Prof ) . I vote for that nice zestful female astronomer often on TV (sorry, must find link).

Wondering if madmouse's mousling had to go for his GA Botox today. If so, hope went safely & less stressfully ly than the visit last week.

All thinking of you , snowmash

Hope there's been some improvement for you snowmash, please let us know if /when you can.

shodatin · 04/04/2011 23:22

I'll have to go to bed fairly soon, but regret we've had no news from snowmash, and can only hope for better things tomorrow. Night all.

ThisIsANiceCage · 05/04/2011 00:55

Still holding you in my thoughts, snowmash. Hope you're still with us in body, however bruised in spirit right now.

Good night each and every one, hope we all manage some sleep.

cityhobgoblin · 05/04/2011 12:08

Been thinking of you snowmash . Hope you can face reading your thread at least .
If your worst fears have been realised , and you're on a section and forced Sad to take drugs , and your fear has caused you to react in ways that have made staff concerned for you , we all hope you can feel our virtual hand holding .
Wish I could find more helpful words.

Very sorry couldn't say goodnight / good morning but pooter went odd again last night and it took kind dh 3 hrs to fix for me ...I was sure it would need expensive attention / new equipment , so am very grateful it's working so far.

Hope you slept well shodatin and TIANC - agree with pixie about gardening pics please , when you have the energy for it .
Hope the pixie and madmouse & kizzie families have a good day .

cityhobgoblin · 05/04/2011 12:11

Ah, I knew I'd be too early about mousling & make you wibble even more than you must be , sorry . Hope you have oases of peace in your busy day
