We filled up your thread, snowmash! So here's another one.

Neither weather nor circumstance seems to be cooperating at the moment, so I thought we could do with a virtual garden to sit out in.

shodatin has started work already:
"we don't lose anything to the frost here, and nobody thieves our daffs and precious bay trees. Most days will be sunny I think, but sometimes we have rain at night, particularly when we've done some planting..."

And I think it needs a summer house with a chiminea or the like to sit round after dark and toast our tootsies.

it's much worse for pixie,s dd2.

I think it's hard to know where I'm at, and lots of people won't comment.

snowmash · 14/03/2011 18:14

Tianc, definitely cyber...

ThisIsANiceCage · 14/03/2011 18:15

Oops, sorry. Blush

Dont need to be sorry tianc!

Pixie, I'm very grateful for all the offers... Just really hoping they'll say I can go tomorrow

shodatin · 14/03/2011 20:16

Of course you want to go home snowmash, and I'm sure they understand that, but before they let my brother go, he was allowed to go home for a visit accompanied by one of the nurses - it's a slow process being discharged I'm afraid.

On subject of robin, the one in my neighbour's garden would not only sit on a hand, last time I saw it, he'd got four/five little ones following, which perched nearby and watched while he ate. I like to think maybe the next generation learned to do the same thing, but I've moved from that location now.

ThisIsANiceCage · 14/03/2011 20:36

You're very nice, snowmash. Blush

Oh I'm now properly Envy, shodatin.

Been thinking about stargazing, now it's dark - but alas more of an streetlit orange overcast haze here.

Not even a sight of that amazing moon I've been reading about. Apparently it's going to be a super-large moon on March 19, max around 6-7pm, due to, um, perigee (position on elliptical orbit round earth). Hope the skies clear a bit for Saturday so we can see it.

OP posts:
snowmash · 14/03/2011 21:14

I didn't know that, shodatin. Wonder if it's like that for everyone.

shodatin · 14/03/2011 22:10

I wish I knew more snowmash, but i'm fairly certain they won't simply discharge you without setting up some kind of support for the future, which of course they would discuss with you, so I doubt you'll be going tomorrow.
At least you will be able to ask the consultant himself very soon, and maybe get a better idea of the timescale they have in mind.

shodatin · 14/03/2011 22:15

Thanks for the moon information TIANC; will write a memo to self for Saturday.
Not too many stars in sight here either, there is one really bright light here which goes off about 2a.m. and makes a big difference (if I'm still awake.)

snowmash · 14/03/2011 22:21

I do ask the doctors - just get we need to keep you a little longer :s

snowmash · 14/03/2011 22:21

But I should try to sleep - night all! Sleep well!

ThisIsANiceCage · 14/03/2011 22:26
Sad

But if you need it to stay safe... It's selfish of us, but I think we'd all like you to carry on that living thing.

Night night, hope you get some good rest.
((hugs)) for tomorrow.

Goodnight snowmash- what TIANC said about safety for you ( not that I've been around here long enough to pronounce upon this very stressful matter ). We're all sending virtual lavender to you tonight.

Sorry away all evening without mentioning it - went out in a rush to a comforting history talk.

Love the robin chat TIANC & shodatin. absolutely sniffling at thought of infant robins being shown how to eat from human hand .

( & thanks for mentioning that young thrushes are so vulnerable, TIANC- I don't have much chance of saving any of Ms Thrush's LOs if they stay near ground level for a whole year, but I'll watch the cats obsessively now as we do have a thrush here atm. 1 st one I've seen since childhood).

I didn't know about the moon thing, excellent. I'm going to see if I can find a bunny on that day so I can see its expression as the moon rises.. Wishing everyone a decent sleep, especially pixie's DD.

shodatin · 15/03/2011 10:12

Hope we all had a restful night.
Snowmash, I hope this is a good day for you and that the consultant says you've made lots of progress.

I was wondering late last night - as you do - what kind of flowers we need in order to feed the hummingbirds someone suggested....

cityhobgoblin · 15/03/2011 10:38

Morning all. snowmash, I hope that as shodatin says the consultant will offer you examples of your progress and that if they want you to stay in a bit longer, that this progress won't make you feel even worse about that. If today does prove very upsetting for you , I hope there will still be a sense of fairness.

Hi shodatin - a very down -to -earth guide to catering for hummingbirds ebirding.about.com/od/attractingbirds/a/hummingbirdflowers.htmbirding.about.com/od/attractingbirds/a/hummingbirdflowers.htm
ugly long link

Hope everyone has a good morning

cityhobgoblin · 15/03/2011 10:38

oops, did it twice

shodatin · 15/03/2011 10:56

Glad the link is only half the printed size - I was mentally postponing this to next weekend due to time involved in simply typing it out - it will still have to wait until tomorrow, but many thanks for information.
