Morning all
Snowmash, hope you're feeling better today
Have a friend visiting soon, so will look in later

ThisIsANiceCage · 05/02/2011 11:34

Mornin' all.

Hope everyone got some decent sleep.

Was about to whinge that it's another tedious grey day - but have just seen the faintest little patch of blue above the chimney pots! Hooray! [easily pleased emoticon]

Still pretty windy tho. Wuthering, it is, in my flues.

snowmash · 05/02/2011 11:55

Glad you slept enough to cope, madmouse.
Morning madmouse and shodatin.

I am trying not to feel sick/twisted because of something physiological during the f/bs yesterday...something I discussed 9 years ago, can't remember the explanation :(

Also telling myself I need to go and get the post.

Morning TIANC - x post - hope your day is good

ThisIsANiceCage · 05/02/2011 12:11

Sorry yesterday's flashbacks are still causing trouble. Sad

Greyed over again here, so I hope if you get out for the post it's nicer your side!

snowmash · 05/02/2011 14:29

Thanks - spent half an hour trying to work out which coat because of the weather - windy, cold, looking like it might rain, chose the wrong one because it didn't rain.

Got some food as well as getting the post - even opened the difficult one which happens at this time of year (SDA, is it going to be 'this is the increase due to April', or 'we're reassessing you' - fine but now would be difficult...lots of scary talk about reassessment, and I don't remember the first assessment because I got it under youth rules at 16).

Also a letter talking about medicines - very, very, very confused now.

OP posts:
ThisIsANiceCage · 05/02/2011 14:43

Glad the rain held off for you - sod's law with coats, innit? Wink

And at opening the difficult envelope. Seriously impressed. I can be a right wuss and sit on em for days.

snowmash · 05/02/2011 15:32

Thanks - maybe it's easier for me because I've never had a review letter.

I guess the new drugs (combined with old ones) might make me feel strange - had a lettter saying that it's not straightforward what anti-depressant I should take (I think - tried to summarise it below if it makes sense, I'm struggling with it).

I have conditions X and Y (alongside the depressive episode). I take medicine C for condition Y. Condition X is intractable/undergoing guinea pig treatment.

SSRIs are the drug to use for depression in condition Y, but are known to cause condition X in people.

Tricyclics are the drug to use for depression in condition X, but are a risk if condition Y is present. They can also decrease or increase blood levels of medicine C.

If I'd seen it before starting the anti-depressants, I would have felt all drugs are bad (usual standpoint unless I feel ill).

Yes, a very confusing letter, and I wouldn't know what to think either, apart from giving something a trial (and I see you're already guinea-pigging for condition X)
You do seem to have understood it all actually, so congratulations, as well as for opening the other official envelope.
Have just sat down for a break, but today I actually only had one item I had to deal with
(and my garden gate is still broken due to the high winds).
Glad to see you got some more food in snowmush, as well as being together enough to
deal with correspondence.

ThisIsANiceCage · 05/02/2011 19:07

Blimey, how complicated. Sounds like you have to be very closely monitored.

I'm in awe of you for being a guinea pig. It's so courageous, and so important. As a mere user of health services and drugs, I'm really humbled by - and recognise my debt to - you and others who have taken this role.

ThisIsANiceCage · 05/02/2011 19:09

shodatin - your gate and my fence. Tho the neighbour's children's swing is also a suspect here...

Snowmash if you want to talk (making sense of physiological) flashbacks feel free to PM me xx

ThisIsANiceCage · 05/02/2011 21:12

Madmouse good to see you back safely after your long drive.

madmouse · 05/02/2011 21:18

Blardy high winds were hard on the fragile post(?)- PTSD concentration!!

But had a good day with my friend and her kids

snowmash · 05/02/2011 21:38

IMHO being a guinea pig is nothing to feel anything about - it's what happens when you run out of options, so not a choice (JMHO).

Pixie:yes, I keep asking to stop some of them - that was the plan and hopefully still is, just finding people willing to. Hopefully next week I will stop some (don't know the plan, just guessing).

madmouse: thank you very much - very grateful for the offer. Trying to work out how to stop them (although they should calm down next week).

ps glad you had a good day and a safe drive, madmouse!

ThisIsANiceCage · 05/02/2011 21:43

Oh, how lovely (the friend bit, not the wild and blustery bit).

We've been curled up in the warm most of the day, and have just made a big steamed suet pudding with a whole lemon in the middle: perfect for this weather!

Btw, looks like MN is going to be down for maintenance tomorrow from 10am, they're not sure for how long.

ThisIsANiceCage · 05/02/2011 21:49

X-posted with you again snowmash!

snowmash · 05/02/2011 21:59

TIANC: must be psychic - lemon pudding like that is gorgeous.

thanks for the heads up re; maintenance!

OP posts:
ThisIsANiceCage · 05/02/2011 22:12

Yeah, I get that you're not exactly overwhelmed with choices. Sad

DP just put it better than me. He says all the really brave people he knows say the same as you: that they weren't really being brave as they had no choice. But HE THINKS THEY'RE BRAVE, because he would probably sit still and let the worst happen rather than keep pushing forwards.

Without you, there wouldn't be new treatments for anyone else either.

Can we be just a teensy little bit impressed if we do it quietly in a corner? Smile

shodatin · 05/02/2011 22:42

Yes it is impressive snowmush, and not everyone could do it.

Lemon pudding is impressive too, TIANC; why don't I think of making something like that.
Hope your fence is not too difficult or expensive to fix; I remember my last one going in similar weather.
Thanks for noting maintenance tomorrow too.

Hope you have a reasonable day tomorrow, snowmush, even if we're without Mumsnet I'll be thinking of you.
Off towards bed now, so goodnight.

snowmash · 05/02/2011 22:59
